Hey Chidosengan, did you run out of Picks of the day?
Not really, I just kinda haven't had the time for it! On to the show!

Chido's Pick of the Day - 6/20/07

The Halberd. Seems like an epic stage, doesn't it? I think I know which song will be picked for it. But I would propose this one for it instead.

Sounds like Yoko Shimomura would do a very good job with this one.

Aaah, Kirby 64, isn't it? A good choice, especially a good choice of composer. *grins*

But Metaknight didn't even appear in Kirby 64... and unless the song is quite much remixed, I'm not sure whether it would fit.

He's there. Look on the Metroid Zero Mission song I posted, and look at the credits.

You forgot to mention that Masato Kouda worked on Devil May Cry!! :(
I would haved, but I couldn't find a song of DMC that credited him. So I went with Monster Hunter.

Chido's Pick of the Day - 6/21/07

OH NO!!!! I MESSED UP ON MY SATs! :( .... I going to have to retake it......

Ugh, I also forgot what was my pick! :ohwell: :urg: :crying:
Sorry, today is turning out to be a bad day for me....

I need to relax my mind. Here, listen to this tune. I know, no way in hell can it make to Brawl. Still relaxing, though.....

ah see you paired him with another composer, not alphabetically, so he was hard to find!

ah that is peaceful. reminds me of the good old days of the 64 generation. i really wish i bought the mario partys for that system. i only have 4-8. 1-3 were the best, what was i thinking?

I hope you'll be okay.

That's a really lovely song. And it's from Mario Party? That's amazing, usually music from those games annoys the hell out of me. xD

Chido's Pick of the Day - 6/22/07

You guys played Advance Wars for GBA and the one for DS right? ...Yeah, those games were so hard I swore I couldn't get through a stage without getting a brain tumor. It had really good songs too.

So we have a tie here. These were basically my 2 favorite songs.

2)http://208.53.158.138/soundtracks/advance-wars-dual-strike/ffyivbvhos/00-nell-s-theme.mp3

Seeing as what he could do, I would love to see Yusuke Takahama do one of these.

Chido's Pick of the Day - 6/24/07

Whoo! this been a nice and busy weekend for me! On saturday, I went to gamestop to get a new DS game without being sure what to get. I saw a used Sonic Rush for $17, plus 10% I had in my card. Then I saw a bargain bin that had Sonic Heroes for $9! Plus $8 off due to the game I was trading in. So I paid $17 for all, about half the price I was intended to spend! Then today I got Custom Robo for $22 since my mom finally paid the $50 that she owed me. Plus I got a pair of shorts, 2 pants, and a shirt. Can you say "great weekend?"

Whoops! Sorry about that. Got a little carried away. On to the pick!

I remember hearing this song in the N64. It's really good. It should be Kirby's new theme song! I wonder what kind of stage they going to give him this time though....

Chido's Pick of the Day - 6/25/07

I wonder.... How come my Blockbuster's PS3 section is 3 times bigger then the Wii's? And there's so many PSP games to rent but absolutely no DS games?

Anyways, have you wonder what the team is going to be for Brawl? What I mean is those teams you fight during the 1-Player games. In Melee, they didn't really had a real theme song like they did in SSB64. So why not rearrange good old "Duel Zone"?

That was a fine piece. Love Naruke's style, a future western style reminiscent of her work in Wild Arms 4.

It sounded great! But it limits my chances of seeing both the "Legend of Zelda" theme and the "Adventures of Link" Palace theme in Brawl. For thsoe of you who don't know, the music on Hyrule Temple in Melee is a remade song from NES LoZ, AoL. It had been my favorite and I was so surprised to find it in Melee.

But yeah, in my opinion, the most powerful song in all of Nintendo is LoZ's theme music. And with all of these composers... I really hope a LOT of attention goes into that song.

As for the released music, man that is amazing! And a bit surprising... I mean if you think about it, it was almost like OoT had officially taken the backseat to TP. While OoT has been the favorite of the modern LoZ games, TP was welcomed as a new game to be praised. OoT has been holding the spot for too long as far as marketing is concerned.

Brawl was killing off the old designs and it with little evidence it's being widely excepted that Sheik won't be in Brawl. Almost everything OoT related seems to be stripped from Brawl. Could we be seeing a OoT stage from this? It seems odd that both Link and Zelda are TP designed yet there are signs of OoT being present in this game. I really want to know if this means anything.

Perhaps the next blog will feature a new stage...? We have Link, Zelda, and "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Medley" already known. I'unno, high hopes on my part I suppose.

Rawr... I've been missing out on a lot of music lately. So many good songs I should comment on, but... rawr. Just know that I love it.

Living in the same apartment with a guy whose life IS music does have its disadvantages. I proudly ( don't ask me, why ) presented him the update, and he disliked it.
As a person who claims that music is at least a major part of my life, that's... a letdown.
I'll try to analyze the song to the best of my ability and restore my honor or something.

If you just like music as it is, do not read on.
Being overly analytic is not fun and totally ruins some experiences. Like music.

Song of Storms: I love this song. The rearrangement enhances the already bittersweet tone of the original, which I really like. There's a minor slip-up in the main instrument at one point. Overall, it's a really good part... the background instruments seem kinda useless, though, they keep repeating themselves quietly and could've been used to add more flow.
Epona's Song part 1: It's an interesting change from the original, yet it seems a bit out of place. What's most disappointing is that the main instrument seems flat and doesn't flow freely, which is probably the greatest problem you encounter when rearranging a song... it feels like it just reiterates the original melody because it has to.
Epona's Song part 2: My least favourite part. Mostly due to personal preference; it just sounds too much like ye olde happy orchestra victory tune or something like that. It also sounds out of place and somewhat carries over the forced melody from the previous part.
Song of Time: I actually kinda like this part. The main instrument is rather flat again, but the background gives it more tempo, and it's definitely an interesting take on the original, and comes as a surprising turn in the tone of the song.
Saria's Song: You cannot possibly go wrong with Saria's Song. It's the best and most energetic part, and also an interesting new take on the original tune. I'm not sure what to think of the fact that the beginning and the end of this segment set it apart from the rest of the medley so much, I think it could maybe have flown better. But still. Love.
Zelda's Lullaby: Heard only briefly, it's not really very interesting... the background doesn't really fit here and the main instrument.. well, that's Zelda's Lullaby. Not much of a rearrangement here, it's okay, I suppose. Hopefully it evolves some more.

So...
Yeah. I guess I see where he's coming from when he calls it lifeless. But I stand by my claim that parts of it are awesome.

Being over-analytical does ruin some things like music.

I mean, just because this is a medley doesn't mean it needs judging by being broken apart and listened to in fragments. The impact the song has as a whole is what counts. And also, in this track's specific case (considering it's in SSBB), it's better that it's no so overdone that it won't fit well in a videogame; one thing I really like about the OoT Medley is the fact that I can definitely imagine it playing in the background of a stage. It sounds about right for what it's going for, and that's what I think matter's most.
