i have to do this, cause most of today i've been playing Kid Icarus and the songs are just stuck in my head.

we know of Pit's stage right? well, which would suit that stage better. The Underworld music, the Overworld music, Skyworld, or Palace in the Sky. Now i know it is Angel Land so people would think "Obviously Sky or Palace in the Sky theme" but isn't the Underworld more recognizable? i think for the stage it will be the underworld theme.

oh and i love the dungeon music. just low beats in the background and this slow moving rythm in the front. i don't care who does it cause i don't know all the composers that well (i've heard their music, but i don't know who did what in which place) but as long as they do it justice. the dungeon should be Pit's second stage!

and one last question. Which do you think Koji Kondo will do? he could do the Mario and Zelda themes, but that would be too obvious. maybe he will end up doing something else (KID ICARUS!!!)

I've just read in Yasunori Mitsuda's blog that he will be contributing with 2 songs.

「大乱闘スマッシュブラザーズX」に光田が2曲参加しました!
Literally, "I'm going to participate in Super Smash Bros Brawl with 2 songs!".

That opens for speculation: What if everyone makes two songs? Then we have 72 songs. For stages only? Most likely not. But I don't think Sakurai paid these guys just to arrange the 4-seconds victory tunes...

*implodes*

......................... that would be... not bad. '_'
...is that a realistic number?
There will quite possibly be some collaborations...
... but wow.

It could be, Sakurai seems to be pushing a "each game in Brawl will be different" with the changing stages, so I think we'll have 2 songs per stage to reinforce that.

There were 29 stages in Melee. 3 of these tunes were exact replicates of retro tunes (Mushroom Kingdom I & II and Balloon Fight). Flat Zone was original and it wouldn't get an alternate because... G&W never had any actual music to pick after all. And other 3 were from SSB64. So that goes for 34 tunes for stages, alternates included. Not counting menus, fanfares, jingles, victory themes, retro music and hammer or starman tunes. Melee had 79 songs counting them all.

But if everybody is contributing with 2 tunes (some may just participate with 1, others may 3), the soundtrack will be massive. I'm leaving victory tunes out, because I would feel like cheated if they waste their talent arranging in that and counting them as "songs" >_>

Actually, Melee had about 59 songs, that's minus sirens, jingles, and victory fanfares.

There was once a little machine that swept the nation. Even with competition 5 times stronger than it, it would always come out on top. It is still talked about today, and influenced many others.

Today, we look at Mario's first adventure in this little bundle of joy we all know as the Game Boy.

I am so going to buy the OST when it comes out. Even if it is 50 bajillion discs.
Agreed!

Dude, great pick. I love that song. It brought back memories of when I was a kid, lolz. Anyway, if that song was in, who do you think would do the best job mixing it?

I guess either Koji Hayama or Kazumi Totaka could do the job right. Just a guess.

Who here really expected Yoshi's Story's ending theme to be remixed, huh? None?

I thought so.

So to keep in that direction, I propose this song. Now, here is its background. In Japan, there was this add-on for the N64 called the 64DD, mostly to expand some games.

There was an excellent expansion for one game, and that was F-Zero X. It allowed you to create you own tracks as well as your own cars from scratch. It also featured new songs that weren't heard before, some which are just plain awesome.

The problem? It didn't sell too well, it was never was released to the US, and all development for it was canceled (Including Earthbound 64/Mother 3). So its awesome songs were really heard widely.

One day, I just happened to browse around YouTube, and found one of those custom tracks. I heard one of those songs in it, and I instantly fell in love with it. I tried to hear it better, but all that boosting noise made it hard to. So I tried to find and download it, but failed. These songs are very rare, but I did find a remix of it over at ocremix.org by Tony Thai, and sound very much like the actual thing.

Lady and Gentlemen, I give you what should be this Smash's Capt. Falcon's theme:

For those who want to (or try to) listen to the real thing:

Awesome track by the way.

Ooo, fond memories of watching my best friend as a child play Starfox.
I wish they took that Corneria theme for Brawl and remixed it... It's from Assault? Well, anything as long as it's not the N64 Corneria theme. I'm starting to get so sick of that song... over and over and over and over...

...those were some awesome remixes, too. Make me appreciate the series more.

The "Yoshi's Story Ending" rip you have linked to right now is a mono analog recording rather than a digital copy. Here's a link to the files I extracted directly from website source material. I tagged them according to all of the information given about the song on the site.

http://www.cooltastic.com/music/brawl/

I'll probablly take the time to rip all the Brawl music myself, but in case I'm not punctual, here's how to get an exact copy:
1. Look at the page source and do a search for .swf. That link is the .swf file they are using.
2. Save that file to your hard drive.
3. Run the file through a decompiler such as Sothink SWF Decompiler.
4. You'll find a file named "sound1.mp3"
5. Rename that file with the song title so we don't have a lot of sound1.mp3's floating around!
6. Tag it. I recommend we standardize our tagging and have all the mp3s in one place. My website has lots of unused bandwidth for now, but we'll see if that lasts!

Thanks Pvr0! I don't know if you know all the admins, but I'm the brother of Holly (Bahamutess). She and Cole (Bahamut) have been talking about this site for awhile but I just never got around to participating. I'm as big of a fan that you can be of Smash while falling short of being a tournament player. I can win a decent percentage of matches against Bahamut ...

I love the new music update. Ridley's theme just got smexified and now I can't wait to hear the full song.

I will definitely be looking into purchasing this soundtrack.

Well, we finnaly got to see what Yusuke Takahama is capable of, huh?

I took PJGasca's rip, also changed the Yoshi's Story ending song link to PJGasca's. Thanks to all who helped! Until next update!

So far, none of the music shown has appealed to me. This bothers me quite a bit, but maybe there will be a few tracks that I fall in love with. I know I had favourites in SSBM, but even with all the different composers, the lack of a coherent style can be a good thing or a bad thing. Basically, it improves the chances that all the songs will be great, or it increases the chances that fewer composers will hit their peak abilities and produce sub-par stuff. What can I say? I dont like SSBB music so far.

I think the remake of the Melee theme was very good, but I'm quite impressed with this Metroid remake. I wasn't expecting them to put a more vibrant remix of it into the matter, but it's good to see it there nonetheless.

And it's either Ridley will be a boss (perhaps a boss like Bowser or Giga Bowser or Crazy Hand, etc.), a piece of scenery like Kraid in Brinstar for Melee, or a playable character. I don't really see the latter happening, since he's a pretty big character to fit in, but they could very well just shrink him down to size like some of the other characters that may be present.

Size is completely relative. Back in the NES days he was about as tall as Samus and shed compulsively.

Not only that... Kirby is eight inches tall. He's about as tall as Pikachu, who is one foot four inches tall. Pikachu is about as tall as Samus, who according to the official Super Metroid player's guide is six foot something.

I pretty sure Zelda fans have heard this one before. I have been appearing in many games, even it Twilight Princess.

I think the Castle itself should get a little recognition.

.:Double Feature:.
Do you remember how the Pokemon Stadium had two songs?

We already know what song are they gonna use. How about this for an alternate? I mean, seeing how they're using Ruby/Sapphire instead of Diamond/Pearl

Aah, good old castle... when I first entered the castle in TP, I stopped to listen for a few minutes and was like "Ooo................................................... hah, check it out. Good ol' castle. ....ooooooo................."

From Pokemon R/S, how about the song you hear when you battle your rival for the first time? I think that's a pretty nice song, and I'm sure everyone's already getting sick of "RANDOM ENCOUNTER MUZAK".
