One more point is that playing singles at the same time means that there's no hype for the doubles because everyone is busy.
Imagine if you had a doubles game which you had to play during the grand finals of singles - it means you can't watch the top players play which is half the fun for me, seeing who emerges as winner from our UK power triangle. The same should be true for doubles, the Grand Finals last time when me and VA played Prof and Fuzz was so much fun, because loads of people were watching and commenting when something cool happened.
Just putting my opinion out there. I understand what you were trying to do and why, but I like the hype of watching top level play, and also the pressure of having a crowd watching you play important games.
