Tier lists don't really make that much sense for this game. Nobody establishes what certain qualities are worth. Some will rank characters 99% on how good they are on point. Nobody says what a character is with their best assists is worth against how useful a character is in general. When people say morrigan is top tier they are only thinking about morrigan+missles. She is top tier with missles, but she's not nearly that good in general. She's very hard to place on a team due to low damage, terrible DHCs, and meh assists. Characters like doom and wesker may not be the best points but they are extremely useful in general for other reasons. At the end of the day, the characters are only ingredients. Kusoru used seemingly "mid-low tier" characters but his team was competitive because those characters together made a strong team.

There's a big difference between a character like dorm, who may not get a lot of exposure, but everyone can agree is amazing based on what you can plainly see when you look at the characters qualities and moves.

And a character like Jill who seems to have generally bad or mediocre traits all around (crappy damage, really awkward supers, semi useless level 3, and a very steep learning curve) and everyone agrees is really bad except for the 5 guys sitting in the corner yelling at everyone else like "yo we SWEAR she's amazing man, her resets are broken"

Agreed. You can't just counterpick him. You need to outplay him too.

But here are some counterpicks for non Chris G morridooms:

Points:
Hawkeye (gimlet, high durability projectiles)
Ammy (reflect, fullscreen super)
Dorm (fullscreen specials, beam supers, teleports, flight)
Strange (vishanti, 7 rings, teleports, high durability projectiles)
Vergil (teleports, spiral swords)
Strong Rushdown* (only against a morrigan that is started on point at the start of the match)

DHC/THCs:
Storm
Beam/fullscreen supers

Assists:
Vajra
beams (to hit doom assist and stop missles from coming)

Pretty much what those two said. Morrigan-Doom is simply not an easy strategy to beat when executed well, and ChrisG is a genuinely great player; there's no doubt in my mind that he ranks among the very best in the country in this game. It's like Metaknight – there's not an easy counter, and Mew2King, Nairo, and ally simply are amazing at the game.

You kinda want something with flight and a beam assist, that way Morrigan has to choose whether to gun for assists or gun for flight.
