Submit A Game With A Beach Area

Last Christmas we had a job for games with winter areas so why not do one for summer and have a job for games with a beach area? Any game is fine as long as it has a beach themed level or significant area that’s a beach.

Submit A Political Game

Time to get controversial. Video games, just like any medium, are no stranger to introducing complex themes so this job is for games with political messages in their narratives. It doesn’t need to be a huge thing but it does need to be at least somewhat clear and deliberate. Please be sure to explain what kind of “politics” are in the game (and don’t do the internet thing and say a game is political because it has a minority in it).

Wanted! Monty Mole

A game that very directly references the 80s UK miners' strikes, where you control a miner who needs to steal coal to stay warm over winter - it even has a stage rather wittily named "Arthur's Castle", with a final boss resembling Scargill. It's kinda weird, anti-Scargill yet also anti-Thatcher, but with no actual motive beyond referencing random controversies and tabloid pieces to aggravate the press, but an interesting piece of history and a micro classic either way.

Kingdom Hearts (Destiny Islands is an area with a beach)

Kingdom Hearts is an RPG video game made by Squaresoft & Disney and it was released in 2002.
The game takes place in multiverse that was composed of various worlds from Disney franchises and FF games and the worlds are accessible by Gummi ship (yes, you have to travel from one world to another).
The story is about Sora, a boy who goes on adventure to discover various worlds and save them from evil Xehanort & other Disney villains.

This game is considered as one of greatest game of all time due to the crossover concept, writing, unusual gameplay and music. The game sold over 36 million compies and became one of 10 most selling PS2 games.
Heck, it even started the video game franchise on high note and the sequels are doing well just like the first game that I'm submitting.

Fallout: New Vegas (It has "war" topics)

Fallout: New Vegas is an action RPG video game made by Obsidian Entertainment & Bethesda and it was released in 2010.
This game takes place somewhere in region of USA composed of parts of California, Nevada and Arizona and it also takes place in alternate timeline thanks to atomic age and "Great war" (war between US and China) took place in 2077 (actual game takes place in 2281).
The player character known as "Courier" has to deliver the package through Mojave desert to New Vegas (which was used to be Las Vegas) while avoiding problems and monsters.

This game is considered as one of best entries in Fallout franchise and it's considered as one of greatest RPGs of all time.
Heck, it got praised for writing (story and traits of characters), gameplay and quests that you find in this game.

Hotline Miami is a Top-Down Shooter developed by Dennaton Games and published by Devolver Digital,in this game,the player controls Jacket,a silent guy who have calls of an organization called 50 Blessings to kill russian mafia members.

Hotline Miami goes on Cold War era,the Hotline Miami franchise lore have a little bit of critics about the Cold War.

Banjo-Kazooie
Now that we have at least one actual MS game here I'm much more okay with including this. It was a fairly influential platofmer and would represent colectathons. Rare where a pretty prolific dev during the 90s and this is hands down their biggest non Nintendo (no matter what smash fans tell you) game. Included it here because of Treasure Trove Cove.

Disco Elysium
Disco Elysium is an isometric RPG, but features little to no combat, instead everything is done through skill checks and dialogue trees. The game has a deep skill system and the various elements can be different depending on what parts of a certain ideology you choose to embrace. You play as an amnesiac detective, who along with his partner Kim Kitsuragi, has been tasked with solving a murder mystery. During the investigation, he starts to remember events about his own past, which tie into the mysterious events effecting the city.

The game is deeply and openly political, the game takes place in a sicfi future where nations are split up between Communism, Fascism, Moralism, and Ultraliberalism. It deals with heavy themes like Revolution, policing, religion and more. It's also very funny.

The game was praised for its story and themes and has won awards. It has an oil painting inspired artsyle that makes it stand out. this would be the Final Cut addition

Beach - Fire Emblem Engage

Hoping to get a game from the series in this collection. Chapter 16 - Seashore Travels takes place on a beach (& was a really fun, standout level imo). Feel like Engage could be a good starting point for newcomers getting a taste of characters from the whole series & focusing more on core gameplay before diving into something like 3 Houses.

Poltical - Metal Gear Rising Revengence

Short but fantastic action game by Platinum (think they should have a game in this collection & this is arguably the biggest ip they worked on), know we already have mgs but this is a completely different beast imo. Also left quite a mark with its quotes & characters.

The game literally has an expansion about islands and beaches so it would count here. Anyways the Sims is probably one of the biggest franchises we don’t have yet and the simulation genre in general is one we don’t have much representation of.

Red Dead Redemption (Politics)

Red Dead 2 might be a little more deserving but I haven’t played it so I’ll just submit this. Red Dead Redemption is a super successful game that’s influenced a lot of modern open world games and storytelling. It’s political messages is that it addresses gang life, explores the idea of “progress” and the American dream, and you know, you’re literally involved in the Mexican revolution which was an actual political event.

God of War was published by Sony Interactive Entertainment in 2005 for the PlayStation 2 and quickly cemented God of War as the biggest PlayStation exclusive series out there. It follows Kratos, a Spartan warrior on a quest for bloody revenge after he was tricked by the gods of Olympus to kill his own family. Numerous elements from across Greek mythology are commonplace through out the world of the game. It’s known for a fixed camera angle and intensely brutal hack ‘n slash action which influenced a huge amount of games of the era and games still being made today. To this day Kratos is still considered Sony’s mascot, even if he’s a little more brutal than, say, Nintendo’s Mario.

Chrono Trigger
Chrono Trigger was created in 1995 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System as a collaboration between Square and Enix and the “dream team” of Hironobu Sakaguchi, Yuji Hori, and Akira Toriyama, three men who created and designed Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, the two biggest and most influential RPG’s out there. Their collaboration is now considered to have surpassed even those two series in quality and scope and is now considered one of the greatest RPG’s of all time. It’s deceptively simple story follows a young boy named Crono as he gets trapped in the past alongside his friends Marle and Lucca. The three are then forced to become heroes as they go back to the present and fight an evil mage named Magus… Who might be hiding some secrets about their world. Your journey takes you to many time periods including the Middle Ages, the future, the ice age, and prehistoric times, and paints a huge sprawling world with it’s story.

Sorta stealing this from Drifting Dimensions This game is, to be completely honest, not very realistic but why not play along a bit and pretend our company just has the deepest connections to the industry in the world and is able to get all these licenses. So just submit the name of the company that does this. (An original company not an existing one).

Submit A Spin-Off Game

Some of the biggest game series in existence are spin-offs so why not have a job for them? A spin-off is a bit hard to clearly define but it’s basically a game that takes a character or concept (or makes a new character or concept) besides the main character and makes a game around them, or has a completely different gameplay style but the same characters or world. In the case where two games share a same universe, the later game would be allowed (so something like Apex Legends or Control are eligible).

My submission will be Final Fantasy Tactics

Final Fantasy Tactics, despite being a spin-off, is often considered one of the best Final Fantasy games. It hasn’t been agnowledged very much by SE however (plus the tactics series is pretty much dead) so I think this would be a good opportunity to put it in the public conscious again. It’s also very influential in the tactical RPG genre.
