Character #10: Kazuma Kiryu
Media Nickname: The Dragon of Dojima
Stats:
Speed: 5
Strength: 7
Defense: 6
Shooting: 4
Passing: 3
Skill: 5
Super-Star Move: Essence of Super Shot
Kiryu's body becomes covered in a shade of blue flame as he charges up a kick. The words 'FEEL THE HEAT!' come on the screen, and you can either shoot the ball immediately or charge it up by mashing a button for a special attack. If you choose to just shoot it without charging it, he will unleash a kick that will knock some opponents back and be a solid super shot. When you fully charge it, however, the effects make the move absolutely devastating. As he kicks it, it unleashes a fiery flame that makes it faster, has a wider range for hitting out opponents, and can send opponents to the ground for a few seconds
All-Star Move: Essence of Spinning Throw (Dragon Style)
Do you ever feel crowded by the other team when you're just trying to shoot the ball in peace? Do I have the move for you. When you activate this move, Kiryu's body will be enveloped in a red flame and he will grab the opponent closest to him. From there, he will swing that opponent in a helicopter motion, taking out any and all people near them on the opposite team, before throwing the person he grabbed away. This move makes Kiryu an absolute master at clearing away pesky crowders over the ball, but can also wipe out the opposing team to allow him to take the ball.
Star-Burst Move: Essence of Punchout Artist (Rush Style)
Kiryu's body has pink flames covering him as he activates one of his fighting styles, Rush Mode. In Rush Mode, you have faster speed so you can easily dodge attacks and hit opponents with several fast blows. In the past, he's used this style as a 'punchout artist', where people would try and hit him in a certain amount of time for money. Having mastered the art of dodging, activating Rush Mode works as a sort of invincibility for him, as he uses this to automatically sidestep any and all attacks thrown at him, and also get a speed boost.
Goal-Star Move: Essence of Roadside Object (Beast Style)
Kiryu's body becomes engulfed in a yellow flame as he activates another one of his fighting styles, Beast Mode. In this mode, Kiryu trades in his speed for heavy defense and offense. That may not seem like it'd make his job as a goalie any easier, but Beast Mode will pick up items off the ground to use as weapons in a quick animation to save you some time. This move will go one of two ways. Normally it will give Kiryu a large weapon from the Yakuza games for him to smack the ball away (Bicycles, Baseball Bats, Road Sign, Giant Traffic Cones, etc.), but if you activate this in perfect timing to save the ball, Kiryu will actively pick up the entire goalpost, so the ball hits the wall and then bounces back before he puts it down again and keeps Beast Mode to pull out a weapon whenever he needs it.
Goal Victories:
Kiryu stands against the camera and rips off his jersey to reveal the dragon tattoo that's on his back, before a camera cut to Kiryu's front as he raises his fists into the air and shouts "M...V...P!" to the crowd, who cover him in confetti.
Losing:
Kiryu is dressed in FULL football gear. He wears a black and white, realistic-looking striped football jersey with red and yellow as accent colors. It both matches his outfit and the tattoo on his back. The boots/pants also resemble this look from Yakuza 6.

Goal Victories:
- Kiryu looks down at the ball on the ground, before raising his hand up to the air as a stream of confetti falls on him (Victory motion in Pocket Circuit)
- Kiryu breaks out the champagne bottle and makes it rain (Cabaret Club minigame in Kiwami 2)
- Haruka runs onto the stage to celebrate with Kiryu (Being successful in Haruka's requests from earlier Yakuza games)
Kiryu stands against the camera and rips off his jersey to reveal the dragon tattoo that's on his back, before a camera cut to Kiryu's front as he raises his fists into the air and shouts "M...V...P!" to the crowd, who cover him in confetti.
Losing:
- Kiryu hangs his head low, looks at the ground and shakes his head (Typical mini-game lose animation found in the series)
- Kiryu falls onto his knee and first and looks to the ground. (Cutscene animation for Kiryu you might see if you lose at a fight/minigame, but it's not a death)
- Goro Majima swipes at Kiryu with a knife from behind and just barely misses. Kiryu jumps off-screen before being chased by Majima. (stuff like this is fairly common in Yakuza, but is specifically based on the Majima Everywhere system in Kiwami)
