Classic Constructions - Donkey Kong

Uses pixel graphics and combines together elements from Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., and Donkey Kong 3. Stage is like a Baby Park clone in concept, but has some subtle differences - the most noticeable is the presence of enemies like bugs, barrels, and birds that get in the way. It's also a square instead of a circle, very big (only 3 laps) and each lap takes you to a different game - this makes it a lot less chaotic than the usual straight loop stage, as each lap is segregated on its own.

Bramble Blast - Stickerbush Symphony

You can hop into barrels and blast off after aiming - you get (relatively) free aim rather than having to wait, making this a somewhat non-linear course with some potential for insane shortcuts. Beware the brambles!

Frozen Ape - In a Snow-Bound Land

Combines Slipslide Ride, Snow Barrel Blast, and Frosty Village in that order. Drive from the cruel cave into a safe village - this track begins hard but becomes easier.

Sawmill Thrill - Sawmill Thrill

This track is formulated somewhat like a DKC minecart level, each racer has their own track they're stuck to, which will often overlap, and cannot stop accelerating. You should focus on avoiding saws and items placed from other racers, as well as deciding the right moments to drift. You can only fall off from a jump, so be prepared for those. Items will home in on other tracks, always placed in front of the opposing racer, so take aim to snipe.

DK Tracks

Kongo Bongo Island

Music: Intro to Donkey Kong Country (Cartoon)

Just to get some DKC cartoon representation, have a track based on Kongo Bongo. It’s a huge one lap course that starts at DK’s house and takes you through all the different landmarks of the show such as Kaptain Skurvy’s Pirate Ship, the mines, etc. Kritters and what not act as hazards and various characters of the DKC cartoon make cameo appearances if not racing. The race ends back at DK’s house.

Wizpig’s Ultimate Challenge

Music: Wizpig Challenge Theme

IMG_0392.jpeg

IMG_0393.jpeg

This track combines both of the Wizpig boss races in the original Diddy Kong Racing. Same layout and what not, but each track is a lap and is a bit expanded.

Donkey Konga

Music: Donkey Konga Theme

You basically race along a music bar-esque track watching out for when DK plays his bongos. If he hits the bongos when you’re on the circle, you will spin out for a second! Track is a straight line.

Gangplank Galleon

Music: Gangplank Galleon Theme

IMG_0395.jpeg

Based on the first K. Rool boss fight, you drive around his pirate ship. Watch out for Kremlings, fallen cannon balls, etc. There will be a fake out credits roll towards the beginning of the third lap. If you see that, just know, your race is not over yet!

Jungle Hijinx (Track - Jungle Hijinx)
A sort of fusion of the original Jungle Hijinx and Returns version. Start out at Donkey Kong's house and drive through the jungle. There are multiple branching paths.

tumblr_0713e516b92b811687b62138d72e28a3_93d6dda5_500.gif

Hornet Hole (Track - Flight Of The Zinger )
Drive around inside a giant bee hive. Avoid getting stuck in honey and the Zingers that fly around the level.

Tree_Top_Town_O.png

Tree Top Town (Track - Treetop Rock)
Drive across tree top platforms, jump across ledges and use rocket barrels to fly through the air.

Track: Lost World (Crocodile Cacophony)

The final world in DKC2, the track circles around the center mountain before entering it through K. Rool's mouth. After a brief section inside the Kore, the power beacon in the middle serves as a portal to return to the start of the track.

Submit up to 4 Donkey Kong vehicles!

PS, I want to ask a question - what are you guys' thoughts on the "entire season" jobs? Specifically the ones that previously got us One Piece and Pepsi Part 2. I personally find them really fun, and good at their intended purpose of allowing seasons that not everyone is familiar with but a lot of us want either way, but I worry some may find them to take away from the point of the game, so I want to know before I start planning any more (rest assured that if I do, I will try to space them out)

I like the entire season rounds. Good way of getting series that might not get in otherwise, good way of getting obscure or more region specific properties in, or even popular properties who the rest of the thread just aren't that familiar with (see OP). they do take more effort than a normal dridim submission but those who want to submit will.

I don't think they ruin the point of the game or anything. We've changed how we do things a couple times (adding mini seasons, changing the ratios).

Personally, I enjoy the full season jobs as everyone has said. Great way to add nicher properties in as full seasons. I feel for those kind of jobs in the future, we should maybe give specific prompts as to what kind of seasons everyone can submit rather than a free-for-all to make it harder. But, as Wa3 said, that may take away other peoples’ interest. But, overall, I love the full season jobs for sure.

I think the "whole season in one go" kind of job is handled pretty well for the most part - Not super frequent, doesn't clash with the overall point/feel of the thread, and pretty fun to do. That said, I will echo darkvortex/AlteredBeast's idea that those kinds of jobs be given some other "prompt" alongside having to submit the whole season - Something like "Submit an entire season based on an anime!" would be cool.
