Onto the next job:

Job #261: Submit a Fighting Vipers character

ok so like we all know it's gonna be Honey but this could be a nice opportunity for us to delve into some other cool picks regardless. The series is comprised of fighting games of course, so you guys already have a nice spread of potential picks laid out for yourselves. HAVE AT IT

Character Name: Picky
Character Origin: Fighting Vipers (1995)

Speed Weed said it best - Candy/Honey's probably the most likely result here (and if not her, then probably Bahn.) That said, I'd like to take a moment to shine a light on someone I think would be really unique - Picky, the youngest of the group.

Fighting Vipers had a lot of pretty unique character designs and movesets, especially for fighting games, but I honestly feel like you'd be hard-pressed to even think of another character in a fighting game who does so with a skateboard. Considering his unique uses of the board given it's usually strapped to his back (such as being able to evade opponents by swinging under their legs, or being able to simply whack people with it), there's plenty of potential - and that's not even getting into his other moves and the like. (And hey, he wouldn't be out of place on some Jet Set Radio stages, whilst not stepping on Beat's toes mechanically.)

Helpfully, he also very effectively visually represents one of the more prominent "gimmicks" from Fighting Vipers - armour. It'd be nice for us to be able to somehow bring that over to here, with aspects of Picky's protective gear getting damaged or knocked off if he takes large amounts of damage (probably only as a visual effect for balancing's sake, though) - which would be able to be more obviously included compared to, say, Bahn or Candy/Honey.

The only thing I think we'd need to change is his Pepsi board, but that being said, his Fighting Vipers 2 appearance already handled that for us. He's a bit of a dark horse pick, but I think he's honestly a fun (if unlikely) one.

Know we already have Ulala & Amigo but feel like there is alot of potential with a music themed fighters, especially with someone who is aesthetically very different from the others we have. Think it could be fun to fully realize his guitar & singing abilities with his some of his moves & the armor mechanic from Fighting Vipers.

Bahn

Bahn is the main protagonist of the Fighting Vipers series, and a high school gang leader residing in Nishino Machi, Japan, otherwise known as "Genghis Bahn III". He has traveled overseas to find and fight his father, whom he has never met and abandoned him and his mother when he was just a small child.

Now, I know he kinda looks like Jotaro Kujo from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and he has a couple hard-hitting moves that are kind of a borrowed mix of Akira (Virtua Fighter), Ryu (Street Fighter), and even Kazuya (Tekken), but he adds his own little spin to all of it, and I think he has potential to be a great character. He has a few "Shoryukens", shoulder strikes, and other attacks that do quite a bit of damage. Whether or not you think his moves are "rip-offs", he'd still be a pretty fun and cool character to use.

Besides, he was also in Fighters Megamix, a crossover fighting game that included many SEGA characters, ranging from the cast of Virtua Fighter 2 and Fighting Vipers to Janet from Virtua Cop 2 and Hornet from Daytona USA.

Still up Peach's dress.
Grace

Grace_Sega_Freaks_Card.jpg

Sega has had a history of rollerblading characters. We've had Skate in Streets of Rage 2, we've of course had the GG's of Jet Set Radio including Battle of Ages' own Beat. Hell, even Shadow the Hedgehog 'runs' by rollerblading rather than regular running.

At the time of her debut, Grace stood out from the rest of the fighting game crowd by being a rollerblader which was a pretty unique concept at the time. She was also used quite a bit on advertising alongside Bahn and Honey.

Grace may not be our first rollerblading fighter, but just because her and Beat share the same taste in kicks doesn't mean they would share a moveset.

Whilst Beat may be full of rebellious teen spirit, I visualise Grace as being more filled with the righteous rage of a lover spurned allowing her to have a far more aggressive fighting style focused around brutalising her opponents with skate shoes. A fast rushdown character that can hit hard and fast with low traction.

Honey (Fighting Vipers)

Honey is a character from the fighting game series Fighting Vipers. She was known as Candy in some versions. A fashion student who joined a fighting tournament to promote her fashion line. Honey is technically not the main character of that game, but she became extremely popular, having dolls and other merch made of her and even having a Sonic character based on her appearing in Sonic the Fighters.

Due to recent discovery with Kenji Eno WARP games, have some new capsule toys:

Laura (D): a Fictional digital actress created by Kenji Eno, in each game she 'plays' a completely different character, in the same way real-life actors play different roles in movies. In D, she is Laura Harris; in Enemy Zero, she is Laura Lewis; and in D2, she is Laura Parton. Despite sharing a similar-looking character model, they are all different characters who are involved in completely separate storylines.

Jamilla Heartless (Enemy Zero): a spin off character created for Enemy Zero Comix depicting other worlds and characters within that games universe.

Headless (Enemy Zero): Aliens you fight in the saturn Horror game, Enemy Zero. You never actually see their actual designs in the game as they are a always invisible and you need to use sound in order to detect if their near you making an interesting gimmick for a horror game.

Oyaji Hunter(Oyaji Hunter Mahjong): A hero who takes on a mission to save cute girls from indecent old men by fighting them with Mahjong.

Job #261: Emi
Emi_FV2.jpg

Emi is one of the newcomers that debuted in the second game - a child prodigy from a prestigious family who lives with her grandfather. When the latter goes missing, Emi hacks into Armstone City's government systems to find any trace of him, and in the process finds out about the mayor, B.M., having captured him in his establishment. As such, she joins the Vipers, donning tech-heavy armor and her Teddy-Mech weapon, to save him. She's a very energetic girl who likes techno music and collecting 8-bit games, and is a very defensive fighter who's also one of the fastest in the game. I picked her cause I think she'd be a really fun archetype, having like this small hyperactive nerdy girl with a lot of techy **** - I think she'd add some really interesting flavor to the roster if she got in. She also has several move names that reference other SEGA games, so that's cool. I like her. She is silly and neat.

  1. Raxel. Honestly, his rock-inspired nature alone is appealing, but his mechanical uniqueness and potential interactions on top of that give Raxel such an awesome and unique vibe overall. It helps that guitar-wielding fighters aren't all too common, and I think he'd have a really unique presence compared to nearly anyone else. It also helps that he's a fairly iconic character from the series, too - to the point where I genuinely wouldn't mind him as an unusual "dark horse" rep for the series.
  2. Bahn. Honey might be a decent pick to represent the series, but Bahn's whole look and design are really cool. That said, he's also got a lot of space to differentiate himself from our Virtua Fighter characters, and it'd be a lot of fun to see him here even if he's one of the less "gimmicky" characters overall. Whilst there's other characters from the series that are objectively more unique, it'd be nice to see him regardless.
  3. Honey. To absolutely nobody's surprise, she's here too - because she is an obvious and fairly unique character to include. She's got a pretty unique moveset overall and could represent Fighting Vipers decently well despite not being its main protagonist, and her popularity helps her a lot in this regard.

Job #263: Fighting Vipers Stage - The Great B.M.

The Great B.M. is one of the arenas that appeared in Fighting Vipers 2, which was released as a sequel for the arcades in April 1998 and ported to Dreamcast in January 18th, 2001. In Arcade Mode, it was used as a home stage of the eponymous B.M. (Big Mahler), the series' main antagonist/final boss, a tyrannical dictator and iron-fisted mayor of Armstone City, who organized and hosted both martial arts tournaments for armor-clad fighters known as the Vipers, especially to confront those that rebel against his control, and specifically Mahler, who has a grudge towards him and didn't register tournaments.

In Battle of AGES, the stage takes place in a large caged arena with a green/gray checkered floor and purple sides, held by a huge cobra snake on it's giant green humanoid hand, far distances above the Earth's atmosphere. It would glare at players as they fight and sometimes either slam it's other fist, fire laser beams or summon lightning bolts down at them during the match. Every time a fighter is defeated/knocked out, flames will erupt from the background cage barrier like how a Super K.O. sequence works in the original game's arena.

Similarly to the Fighting Vipers games and Mishima Dojo & King of Fighters Stadium in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, both sides of the caged arena are surrounded by large walls/barriers that can be jumped over to exit on the hand's palm (that acts as a huge solid platform akin to Final Destination) or enter back. Players can break them down by attacking with enough hits or dealing enough knockback to their opponents, launching them hard down off the cobra's hand and plummet into their doom in a lower blast zone back to Earth. After being left broken for a certain amount of time, cage barriers will repair themselves like how they're restored between rounds.

Job #263: Fighting Vipers Stage - Neo Armstone City Tower

Honey's homestage in the FV2 and also her hometown in canon. Calling it a tower is a bit false since its just a glass battlefield being carried by helicopter but you get a nice view of the city at least.

Just as the gimmick with stages in FV, walls and barriers can be broken with enough force and you can be launched off the stage.

Will nominate Pickys Diner Stage

Stage infamous for having Pepsi branding in Japan, Would be cool to have an alt form that brings back Pepsi colors with a fake knockoff brand. Other Fighting Vipers characters including Picky appear in background, Stage layout will be similar to Mashima Dojo with breakable walls.

Job #264: Bahn

A very strong High school delinquent/bancho inspired by you know who from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure gone to search for his father in Armstone city. Resilient and hits hard, a single punch from his "Super Straight" attack can launch opponents flying. He has several shoulder strikes very reminiscent of Akira's Bājíquán. his armor can be broken off in Vipers fashion.
