I wouldn't put it away that Sakurai goes for someone more """""iconic"""" in the public's eyes as a Guest from Square-Enix. Like another FF rep or Dragon Quest Rep.


Geno's inclusion all goes down to "Will Sakurai just asks for Geno? Or will he try to pull another Miracle like Cloud?"

With the long time demand of Geno, just like Sm4sh, I feel he would be in the game to some extent. Whether it be fighter, assist, costume, trophy, etc is unknown. Him being here just makes sense.

Obviously a fighter would be the best scenario imo.

I'll argue with this by saying that Asking Erdrick, Noctis, Neku, Squall or Sora is probably more difficult and miraculous since Square will try to get as much as they can in the deal with how big of Star power those characters have, which rival some of the first party characters we already have.

Mmmmmmmkay. I don't know why something being wholesome or family friendly is viewed as an insult or something "bad" to some people, but eh, whatever.

Minecraft content is really tricky. On the one hand, Steve while in hindsight makes perfect sense, seems a bit too out there for base roster right now. On the other hand, if your gonna get an IP as big as Minecraft, why on earth would you only do an AT or stage and not bring a character? I'm starting to think that if there is Minecraft content present, then I really do think Steve is coming. That's just me, though.

I'm kind of thinking that if we do get another Square character that they're not from Final Fantasy, since that doesn't appear to have more music. Then again, that may not necessarily mean anything since it was just a demonstration build.

Geno is a popular pick that I could see happening, although they honestly wouldn't do anything for me.

Square owns space invaders? Huh I never knew that.

Space invaders could work as a retro but I doubt they would add a 3rd party for a retro, but I would main them

And once Kingdom Hearts 3 is out, and they decide whether or not they want to port to the Switch, we might see Sora as DLC in the run-up to that. The base game will probably be those who wouldn't sell like hotcakes as DLC.

Exactly. Geno is a hard sell being an obscure character from a 20 year old Mario game, but Sora? EVERYONE knows who Sora is and would gladly shell out extra cash to get him on their roster. I’m betting all of my marbles on this, and I don’t even care for either character.

One thing Verge just recently noted is it's less about the character, and more that Square Enix being an extra secretive company to begin with. Which is why I had figured, and this partly infers, that we can't say who the character might be due to its secrecy.

I think Geno is a given, but I don't think we will get another J-RPG character from Square Enix, there is enough representation of this genre in Smash as it is. So Lara Croft for me is more possible.

I would like to point out that Hitagi told us if the square character was leaked people's jobs were on the line before Vergeben did.
I also like Vergeben's statement on why the SE character was so secret, a few days ago in discord we were discussing the secrecy of the SE and came to the conclusion that the reason why it was so secret is because square was involved. You'll notice that cloud didn't leak during smash 4, probably due to similar circumstances.

Never knew Square owned Space Invsders. I think theyre well suited for an assist trophy, and are cerainly important enough for representation in Samsh. But not playable. 2B would be a neat DLC choice, but I think she needs a miracle like Bayonetta had, and I dont think thats happening.

Hurts my heart that Neku isn't higher but I understand.

2B is another outside pick that I support from the bottom of my heart but only of it comes with an Automata Switch port. That'd be a huge Get.

Nah. That's a false rumor. Nomura Himself who wanted to make a KH fighting game said "No, **** that."

He realized the battle looked like how dynamic the fights were for Advent Children. And it was BECAUSE the game started as a KH game with final fantasy Characters and Disney characters in that he realized that it would be cool to push things further by making a full blown FF crossover.


Remember. KH was the FIRST TIME FF Characters crossed over with each other... He just pushed the concept further for Dissidia

Wait, did he say for sure that the Square character is base game? If so, then yeah, if you're someone that takes Verge for his word then the box could be dead. TBH though while the box has some good ideas behind it, it suffers from some very serious faults. The biggest being some refusing the idea it could simply be unfinished or a mockup when it's already been proven it is a digital mockup rather than a picture of an actual box. Or that characters could be on the back. The only theory we've had that doesn't seem to have holes in it so far is Music Theory.

I'd rather Steve be in the game killing a theory that says we'll only get Incineroar and Ken as the final newcomers.

As that would mean there's potential for more than just two more fighters.

Cloud represents Final Fantasy VII specifically. He does not represent the Final Fantasy series. So if there is another Final Fantasy fighter, which I think is unlikely, it must be a fighter from Final Fantasy VII. I think that if there was going to be another Final Fantasy fighter not from Final Fantasy VII, Cloud would not still be representing just VII specifically. Having two installments each represented as individual series would just be redundant and dumb.

I don't play Kingdom Hearts, so I have an outside perspective here, but Sora doesn't seem to fit the look of Dissidia. Even if Kingdom Hearts bosses or enemies can look less cartoonish and more threatening, from a marketing perspective, Sora himself actually fits in Smash, aesthetically, while Dissidia maybe he doesn't as much. Just a thought.

The other thing to consider is that, possibly, Disney doesn't want Sora to appear anywhere without Disney characters like Donald and Goofy being in close proximity, thus killing any crossover offer before it can get started.

In my opinion we shouldn't even bother to humor this one. I don't know if they're implying him being playable or a boss, but I'm almost positive that a boss would be the only chance King Boo has.
