Actual game-related point, but WHY THE **** DID THEY ONLY GIVE US THE OG 8?!

It's absolute hell unlocking all of these characters, and I'm using the fast way of doing 1v1's and rebooting the game.

The Fire Emblem characters are particularly hell to beat.

It's a throwback to the N64 game obviously. Look at the bright side though unlocking characters is steamlined as Sakurai stated whether beating Classic Mode or Vs. Matches and if you lose you can try again with any character.

3 seems to be getting love with all of the merchandise, along with movies, a portable version with a recent dancing game. Persona 2 unfortunately won't get any due to the writer for the game left Atlus a long time ago. And Atlus doesn't want to ruin their work.

This is gonna be the one thing that annoys me the most about the future DLC, and it's already really started with Mortal Kombat. Everything is going to be seen as likely because of "cross-promotion". It's an argument that's going to get really old really fast.

Yes, Classic Mode unlocks are preset.

I kinda figured something like that, but only Classic Mode ones are locks, huh? So any others are just kinda random?
Like, I just used Link in a Spirit Battle and got Zelda (yay).

I don't know about that. Marth and Roy were the farthest thing from world renowned when Melee happened. You could say the same for Corrin partially. Characters are added for different reasons. I believe the same applies to 3rd parties, Bayonetta being the biggest proof of that.

I do think there's a risk of alienation with a MK character, but they know better than me when and how to pull the trigger.

Marth & Roy are a different beast altogether, they are in the base game that was going to sell regardless, the series is big in Japan, and they were originally going to be Japan Exclusive until they proved popular with Playtesters/Nintendo of America or something along those lines.

Corrin is from Fire Emblem, which was, and is, doing gangbusters WorldWide. A new character, yes, but not unknown since many people already saw the base design artwork for Fire Emblem Fates as well as all of the pre-promotion, trailers, etc for the game, which was already released in Japan.

For Bayonetta, she's also not a virtual unknown amongst gamers, even I knew who she was before actually playing any of her games. Heck, she was even expected by a lot of people to be in the base roster for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U due to Nintendo's involvement in Bayonetta 2.

Yes, Corrin & Bayonetta were for marketing purposes as well, but they weren't virtual unknowns or dead franchises in one part of the world by any stretch of the imagination.

Also, as a cultural thing, Japan tends to care more about Japan, so Nintendo & Sakurai are more likely to pick characters that are popular worldwide and are of Japanese origin..not to mention Sakurai likes to plan and discuss how a character will work with the team or person behind that character, so there's that too..language barriers are a big hurdle.

I'm simply saying that they won't likely pick a series that's only popular in the West when they can pick a series that is more popular worldwide.

I am going back into the depths of darkness, to avoid WoL spoilers until I finish it myself.
Until then, I shall see no evil.

I will say, however, that Joker may possibly be the best thing that has ever happened to me in terms of 2B for Smash. He completely renewed my faith for a variety of reasons. This is the best deal in history ever made.

I also wish we got to see gameplay of Joker... Or at least his render... I hope we get more details soon. If you need me, see me in about a week or two from now.

Please do not forget me! And also, 2B for Smash. And Boshi for Smash.
And if it isn't 2B, then it is most certainly DQ'S Slime in my book.
Either way, whatever it is, I hope it's something you'll never see coming.

Maybe, but gonna be honest; acrobatics, pistols, daggers and Arsene are more than enough to make a full moveset. I doubt they'll even go for spells beside Eiha.

part of what made doom awesome was the entirely-justified brutality that made doomguy a ****ing monster. not only was it ****ing reasonable because they're demons and you **** demons UP for casual friday, you're also supposed to be brutal because apparently THIS WASN'T YOUR FIRST ****ING TIME DEALING WITH THIS **** and you know the best way to manage local demonic incursions is to show them that they are not the ****ing predators, YOU are.

chief is supposed to be a monster in his own right and universe and blah-blah-blah but that comes from being an undying sentinel rather that a bloodrage-fueled mad ************ that has infinite ammo once his armor is over 75.

Joker is cool. I love Persona 3 and 4 but still need to play 5, no better incentive to than now. Still waiting on Banjo to be announced to buy the Fighter Pass.

Oh also Smash Ultimate is 10/10 GOTYAY.
