I never gave my opinions regarding the "3 picks" thing, but if I was to guess.

• Characters were, Sephiroth, DQ Character and Crono.
• Sepiroth was denied right away, Square Enix doesn't want to play ball with any more FF stuff, as seen by the total lack of content in the game. Cloud's stuff is their limit even when paid.
• DQ character is the character that went to negotiations, whether or not they fell through we don't know.
• Crono is the backup character, if negotiations regarding music go wrong, Toriyama likely will already be on board.

I'd take Crono over anything DQ related. I mean I love Chrono Trigger but still anything Dragon Quest-related is so blah to me.

It’s Duon. If you remove the curve from the D it becomes an L. The curve looks like a semi-circle representing how apparently only half the fan base will appreciate this character.

Geno and Banjo still have hope.
Lloyd probably isn't the L character because his fanbase still thrives.
I don't know what a Phantom Mouse is.
There's one shill pick, and one people won't be upset about.

Fatmanonice has been talking about another character (not the SE rep) that oldschool fans will appreciate but newer fans will either dislike or not know about. Here are some pertinent comments:



I'm guessing this character would be a popular pick for Brawl, Melee, or even 64 speculation. The idea that it's been off people's radars for years disconfirms the recent popular picks, and apparently people thought it would never happen so that skews it towards third parties or characters seen as unlikely compared to others. The character also apparently has a support thread from one of the speculation periods, and is unrelated to the SE rep.

Any thoughts? The only character I can personally think of would be James Bond.

Doesn't that break Sakurai's rule though? Yes, back then he considered Bond as a character, but since then he has stated the character must originate from Video games lol.

And I guess the last character you mentioned is prob the Gen 8 PKMN that will most likely be in the game.

Like I said, the one potential shill character is not even a bad pick. It's a "oh, cool I guess..." and not "**** SAKURAI AND HIS ENTIRE GENETIC LINEAGE!"
