I might be reading the situation wrong but did something happen to make us think he's likely?

While i don't think that missing spirits means much, i heard that Sylux spirit is missing, while other hunters spirits (from metroid Prime Hunters) are spirits. don't quote me. i only heard it.. but if is true... is a little weird. (unless if those hunters spirits are MP3 Hunters, in whic case would be totally different issue)

DLC 3: Incineroar 2(Another Incineroar with a completely unique moveset from the first one)

DLC 5: Bandana Dee (It got to the point where the most suprising character is one that makes sence)

That's not what I mean.
What I mean is that the DQ protagonist, while usually having their "favorite weapons" are blank states that can be played in multiple way, as a Tank, Mage, Healer or whatnot.
It wouldn't be out of characters to have DQ protagonists as multiple alts, since they all can do the same things, which is....Doing everything.

I think it's more likely to have male Erdrick be the playable DQ character with his female version as his alt

For the last few months I've been saying that the SE rep will either be Erdrick, Eight or the Luminary. Erdrick is the Marth of the franchise. Eight has Worldwide appeal and the Luminary is the recent advertising pick (especially if Nintendo Publishes DQXI S in the west)

Yeah, if they manage to secure the rights to Dragon Quest, I'm almost certain it's going to be a Castlevania situation where they have Erdrick as the original and Eight as the Echo. Luminary seems a bit recent, but we'll see.

I still think it's popularity is too low in the rest of the world for Sakurai to consider it, but we'll see. I could be very wrong.

Honestly, this isn't even the worst list of characters I've seen. I give it a solid C+.

Aren't all of the designs done by Toriyama? If Sakurai wants it, he can probably get it.

We might just get Erdrick with alternate costume references to the other Heroes though.

Also, here's my comment about the different heroes so I can say that I called it:

I'm not. I definitely wouldn't be surprised if we get Erdrick or a "Hero" whose costumes are the different heroes of the series (Erdrick, DQ11 hero, etc.).

Anybody who thinks Geno is more likely than a Dragon Quest character is severely underestimating the strength of the series and it's ties with Nintendo. It is legitimately the best-selling Japanese game series not yet represented in Smash Bros, and it has so much going for it.
