Honestly, this isn't even the worst list of characters I've seen. I give it a solid C+.

Aren't all of the designs done by Toriyama? If Sakurai wants it, he can probably get it.

We might just get Erdrick with alternate costume references to the other Heroes though.

Also, here's my comment about the different heroes so I can say that I called it:

So you're telling me getting all those heroes, also getting the music, and navigating all the legal hell necessary to get a DQ rep in...is actually pretty simple.

As is tradition, I think we've come to a point we will completely agree to disagree on until it's either proved or disproved TPC lol. I think we're both very tired of the Squenix debates.

Erdrick doesn't look like a generic "hero" to me. I think he/she has a very unique design, unlike the Luminary

Basically already heard all I have to say.

At one point from one or two people there was a ''Hero" being thrown around. Everyone I talked to about it just assumed it to be a generic holder name for a Dragon Quest rep.

That's all. It seems to have been another decoy thing like Arthur from Million Dollar Arthur maybe?

Or an early version of the list perhaps before the Dragon Quest characters were name dropped.

Don't worry friend you are simply stating facts, and you are not wrong. The Luminary(DQ11 protag) is the equivalent in recognition as the Warrior of Light(FF14 protag). Point is neither are very well known compared to Square's other characters.

Honestly, I'm not convinced we're getting Dragon Quest at all.

I still think it's popularity is too low in the rest of the world for Sakurai to consider it, but we'll see. I could be very wrong.

Still thinking Crono as dark horse. With Geno or second FF rep like Sephiroth being most likely.

I agree I despite signs pointing to a DQ rep, there is simply too much hassle when it comes to the DQ franchise. Most recognizable character is a regular enemy in recent two games, all protagonists are pretty much interchangeable, not globally popular and composer doesn't work well with others. Nintendo and Square may have simply realized DQ is not worth it.

That seems like false advertisement to me, to get an Echo. We were strictly promised 5 characters for the Season Pass. Getting another one which wasn't part of the pack-which can already be bought-seems...wrong for various reasons.

We were promised that for the Fighter Pass...Sakurai and Nintendo never said they wouldn't add Free or Paid Echo Fighter DLC outside of the pack, it seems possible and even likely to me.

Granted, I want it to happen.

Yoko Shimonura is also one of the main composers for KH, so that's a point in Sora's favor as much as it a point in Geno's favor.

The reason Nintendo may not care about Geno is because his game is a rival to one of their game franchises. Nintendo wouldn't want another Super Mario RPG as it would conflict with their Mario & Luigi RPG's. This being said if Geno doesn't get in Smash Ultimate it will most likely have to do with Square's involvement in the decision instead of Nintendo's.

SMRPG started the whole Mario RPG thing.

They could just include Geno and Mallow in a new Mario & Luigi, or count this as part of their Mario RPGs (despite being owned by Square as well) since Geno's game is literally a Mario game, they have no reason to ignore it, and they aren't.

SNES Mini, Virtual Console, even bothering to get a Mii costume for DLC last time, even bothering to use artwork to make Spirits of them, even bothering to acknowledging said game on it's anniversary...

I don't think it's so much a lack of ''care", but rather they can only do what they're allowed to do to show they care about his fanbase.

Anything else just seems illogical. Everyone who claims otherwise has a funny meaning of the word ''care."
