I think it's more realistic to wait for Piranha Plant's release to find out the next DLC character. But I'll still watch the awards for any game announcements.

I think there is a high possibility. Especially because The Game Awards tweeted a trivia question about Smash Bros. I could be reading too much into this, but I think there will be some sort of Smash Bros announcement.

We either get a Mewtwo-like reveal at the VGAs
Or we get a full reveal in January or around Piranha Plant's release in February.

DLC fighter wise, if spirits deconfirm fighters, I'm shooting for Phoenix Wright, Sephiroth (if we're really getting a second Square rep), Master Chief (if we're really getting a Microsoft rep), Adeleine, and Rhythm/Tap Trial Girl from Rhythm Heaven.

ive always dreamed about master cheif being in smash. he'd fit in very well imo and he can have a really interesting moveset using weapons and gimmicks from his games. if not doomguy for sure

So, Paly’s new guidances recognize the Zelda timeline divergence. As she says in Zelda’s, she’s from the downfall timeline, where the Hero of Time was defeated by Ganon.

The Hero of Time is in the game.
As is the version of Ganon that killed him.

So canonically, in order for to exist, killed

So she can now hang out and fight with a little kid, all the while knowing this cute little courageous kid has to die in canon for her to exist.

I'm not sure; character reveals tend to be in events that Nintendo has full control over, like Directs or their E3 presentations, but it's safe to say that Nintendo is going to bring something.

I'm leaning towards "no", but it's still worth keeping an eye on - from a personal standpoint, we got the announcements for Psychonauts 2 and Bayonetta 3 at this awards show in previous years, so I'm interested to see what we'll get this year. (I've heard rumblings about Rocksteady's new project, but people keep saying that Rocksteady's going to make a Superman or Suicide Squad game, so I don't know how seriously to take it)

I'm thinking it's like 80% likely yeah. Remember Bayonetta and Corrin were revealed months before release. They only need to prepare a reveal trailer for them even if they are still in development, they can still work with what they have or just make a CGI trailer if that's what they have in mind. It can perfectly not happen but it wouldn't be weird at all if it did, considering they are gonna be releasing 5 characters across all 2019 till february 2020, that means the first character at least should be releasing sometime during the first 3-4 months of 2019 .

Yeah, Vince is only the headset, but the two others Mii do indeed share costumes with others Mii Fighters.

My guess is that costume who aren't reference to any character in particular will be shared with all Mii fighter, while those like Ashley or Black Knight will be unique to Swordfighter and such.

In all cases, this give me more hopes for my boy, thank you for the help.

You never know buddy with Disney acquiring FOX, they may add DLC that involves the X-Men. Or by the time the game is released Disney will already have acquired FOX and thus allowed them to add X-Men, etc.
Also reports suggest Disney may be able to acquire FOX by January 2019

Yeah 200%. Maybe not for GOTY but for Fighting and Family almost definitely.

It makes sense if the first DLC character is shown off at the game awards. It would ensure that a lot of the casual players buy the pass, before they might end up quitting the game.

That said this is Nintendo, it is impossible to tell what they are going to do.
