Banjo's an outdated character... literally. He spawns from two games that feel outdated to play, while staring in a generally mixed game that people don't like, and honestly feels like a "90s" character.

If Steve does get

Steve, meanwhile, feels like his game has more of an impact on the gaming industry, making the way for a ton of indie games. Not to mention him appearing in Smash would draw in a much younger audience, which can boost sales.

If Steve does get in I would love to see Banjo as a skin. ̶U̶n̶l̶e̶s̶s̶ ̶B̶a̶n̶j̶o̶ ̶i̶s̶n̶'̶t̶ ̶p̶l̶a̶y̶a̶b̶l̶e̶

My DLC predictions:

1. Geno/Sora/Crono - I'm not sure how many parties are involved with Chrono Trigger but I'm going to assume it'd be easier than Dragon Quest, Geno is highly requested and at least someone at SE cares about SMRPG to allow licenses to the rights for Geno and Mallow as Spirits (plus Nintendo still acknowledges the game), and Sora would probably be easier to get than DQ because of it only being two parties involved to my knowledge (even though one is Disney, apparently they'd be fine with his inclusion, although idk if it'd be a limited time-thing or not).

Again DQ isn't impossible and I'd like Slime (though I'd be fine with a protagonist, it's just I haven't played DQ and became interested just 'cause of Slime), it just seems like a really big hassle to license compared to some other potential candidates, but maybe Nintendo could get all of the parties to cooperate and SE wouldn't be too stingy (though I fear Western players will get bad midis).

As for Sephiroth, I'm not sure.

On one hand, we already have FF7 stuff so okay.

On the other hand, the FF7 composer's situation means we're most-likely not getting any new FF7 music.

I have absolutely no idea about any other SE characters.

2. Banjo-Kazooie/Steve - B-K is a beloved game, with the characters being beloved themselves, and two Rare IPs have been found in the code (could be a mistake because of some goofball thinking Nintendo owned the games and then realizing they didn't and then they didn't remove the code, but meh it could also be a different situation involving Rare negotiations or something), and Steve is from a highly popular franchise where most of its fanbase would love to play as Steve despite his lack of a real personality, which is fine because that means he can be whatever you want like how you build and shape the world in Minecraft (although I'd really like a playable Creeper).

3. Porky or Ninten - Yes.

4. Gen 8 Pokemon - It's Pokemon.

5. Um...I don't know what to put here...I'll just say Sandbag because Super Smashing Finale or something.

My DLC predictions

1. Geno. To me it feels right. Especially sense they could get away with making an HD remake of a cut Mario stage to save dev time. Plus it’s a character we’re begging for. This would be this DLC’s equivalent to Roy/Lucas

2. Banjo and Kazooie with a stage based on Minecraft. There is no rule that says the stage and the character have to be from the same game and I imagine licensing from Microsoft is going to be its own special headache. So get the most bang for your buck. So The pack could be themed around Microsoft itself. Banjo playable character to appease us. Minecraft stage to advertise (that’s probably the best way to represent that game anyway). Xbox logo series symbol. And music Tracks from Minecraft, Rareware, maybe even MS games like Halo. This character would be the game’s Mewtwo

3. Edelguard. Or another 3 Houses rep. With a new stage based on that game. I think an ax character could be cool and Nintendo is gonna want to push it. Pretty straight forward. Definitely the Corrin of the game.

4. Heihachi Mishima or Jin Kazama. This pass’s equivalent to Ryu. A well known fighting game rep which will help keep Tekken in players minds as 7’s dlc keeps coming. Stage should be either Mishima Estate or King of the Iron Fist Arena.

5. Euden. An interesting character that will promote Dragalia lost. Nintendo will probably want to push it hard sense it’s not doing to well from what i’ve Heard.

There's a reason that 3 out of our 4 unique DLC characters for Sm4sh were third parties.

That is actually a pretty good idea. We should look for franchises that are selling like hot cakes right now and that might be getting a game on the switch.

There's a reason that 3 out of our 4 unique DLC characters for Sm4sh were third parties.

The press isn't the only thing that matters. Nor does Sylux HAVE to be one of the characters chosen. The other DLC characters were still Nintendo, even if they were returning characters. Now that there's no veterans to bring back, they could easily just add whatever new Nintendo character they felt like.

I don't mind being wrong about this at all, but I'm keeping expectations in check, I don't think we'll get 4 third party characters.

Depends on Sylux's status in Prime 4.
Again Nintendo has the first say in DLC not Sakurai, so I doubt that only 1 character in that pass is from Nintendo.

X-ray, Xylophone, Xenophobe, Xenophobia, Xenophobic, Xylograph, Xerox, Xenia, Xenic, Xeroses, Xanthan, Xenogamy, and Xenophile. I'm sure there's more, but I tried.

It's used for all the fancier scientific terms, like Xenic, employing a related culture to any number of unknown living organisms.

Banjo's my number 1 wanted, but I know that most people that play games nowadays have probably heard of Minecraft over playing a Banjo-Kazooie game, so I get it. I think they both seem like they could be pretty fun characters.
