Oh boy, I can see all the debates about whether rage should be on or off.

This management aspect is still the foundation of their movesets; it is a slightly different take on it, but it boils down to "how much should I give in now, and will it be worth suffering later?". As a result, including Celica seems a bit redundant in my opinion. With how close Three Houses is and how Edelgard could introduce axes, I find it likelier that if we get a Fire Emblem character she'll get in over Celica, despite the latter's proven popularity.

Edelgard isn't even the main lord of Three Houses, from the looks of it. And even then, her axe play is nothing substantially unique on its own if you go beyond aesthetics. We've seen her do all of one attack, and it was pretty much Palutena's forward tilt.

It's pretty silly to erroneously call Celica too similar to Robin but praise Edelgard in uniqueness in the same breath.

Celica would feature management as well, because she has to manage her own damage taken. She would be able to be more aggressive as it would all only break down once she gets hit, but there is still a clear "risk/reward" in both characters; Robin with how he can waste his stronger weapons and Celica with how her own attacks can spell her doom.

But they're both so different that it stops being similar. You don't have to want Celica or anything but can't anyone see how you're just stretching the **** out of this? I'd be like if idk, Broly or Juggernaut get speculated and I go NO TOO SIMILAR TO K.ROOL WITH ARMOUR GIMMICK

When you boil it down enough, every playstyle is a value judgment. Playing the game well itself is a value judgment, are some things worth it or not? Celica would have different spells, movements, and attacks compared to Robin. She would not have too similar of a playstyle.

Celica is about as similar to Robin as Isabelle is from Villager.

They can play similar but change a few tools and the playstyle changes despite surface level similarities.

Was Robin the main character of Awakening? Chrom was the lord, yet Robin was the one who managed to get in Smash first.

Axes aren't anything groundbreaking but for a series with a weapon triangle I'd expect to have more than one corner of the triangle in after eight characters in Smash. We haven't seen enough of Edelgard to realistically judge either way if she'd be unique or not, but I'm in the camp that she'd be more of a varied addition than Celica; all movesets I've seen for her are essentially Robin but with a twist.

I don't see how I'm stretching this; Celica would feature a management aspect with her magic, except instead of her running out with it, she's putting her own life on the line. It's not exactly the same as Robin, and I'm not saying it is. But it is similar.
