Well, to be fair, those characters aren't at the top of my list of SE characters I'd want to be PLAYABLE. But I'll take them all as Spirits.

Right. I guess spirits do make for nice little inclusions. I'd love to have many more SE characters in there, I love a lot of their games.

The only way Spirits deconfirms characters are if DLC and Spirits were picked at the same time or the former before the latter.

Even then there's the chance they'd have DLC characters as Spirits anyways, just to throws off suspicions.

Vault Boy

No doubt about it that 1/3 of the roster will be cut. Which is why I still think the next best approach is a vs. crossover fighting game in the same vain as Marvel vs. Capcom.

I'm thinking Super Smash Bros. vs. Jump Stars and this is my ideal roster for such a game.

3 of the DLC fighters last time were gaming icons (Mewtwo, Ryu, Cloud).

Bayonetta, Corrin, Roy, and Lucas are less known than them but I wouldn't exactly call them ''bottom of the jar scraps" either.

Uh, I mean newcomers. Like, three of them were new third parties and one of them debuted after Smash. It can be like that this time as well. That wouldn't make them scraps.

Most of you guys probably shouldn't be in charge of a roster, even if cuts had to be made. I mean, I shouldn't either, but I'd try to make people other than myself happy.

Though if I had the power, I'd just make Nintendo vs Capcom ft. Sega. Which I think would make more people happy in the long run.

That game must include the Fantastic Four and Superman.

There isn’t any excuse: both made DC and Marvel what they are today, so they deserve to be a lock.

Marvel still sandbags them and the X-Men...and most Spider-Man content.

If I got to make a Marvel fighting game, I'd basically make it a LOT Spider-Man and X-Men characters, with and Captain America, Hulk, War Machine for that Marvel 1 nostalgia.

Literally if let's say this is a DLC pass made out of people confirmed as Spirits:

You just add in new Fighter Spirits with updated models and stuff alongside them. It's really simple as that. I don't get why people have such a hold up with the idea that a Spirit is a solid de-confirm.

They don't really mimic the fighter completely, they don't really have multiple versions of them on stage (though is that even a point when Chrom is a thing.), and they're literally just a stockpiled image of a potential character pulled up from Google Image Search. (Well not really but you know what I mean.)

There's nothing that says ''Hard de-confirm" about this IMO, I'm struggling to see the realistic logic of this one. I could see it with Box Theory but didn't want to believe it, but with this it just comes across a pessimistic at best.

People do have biases and it will affect the things they create, Sakurai especially.

It's just how well are those biases handled and if you're able to please the overall community despite said biases.

The only "bias shill" pick I'd make is getting a second Mega Man. After that, I'd do everything I could to get info on what various audiences would want and grab as many as I can. And even then, Mega Man's a popular enough series where most people would be happy with another character or two.

It’s not the Google images that are the issue, it’s that Sakurai directly stated that they are meant as a way to enjoy characters other than fighters meaning you can use them without actually playing as any of them.

I know people looove to throw the “BUT LUCAS/MEWTWO” argument but the difference is? Trophies were mere collectibles and as Golden said before, Spirits are different because they’re directly involved in gameplay.

Mewtwo and Lucas were veterans, while they needed new models/animations/gameplay changes etc it was still easy for them to come back.

Ryu, Cloud, Corrin, and Bayonetta didn’t have trophies beforehand and while Rayman did and yet wasn’t upgraded.

Look, it’d be great if I was wrong but I really don’t anyone else getting false hopes and end up being disappointed the same way us Grinchers felt when the leak was deemed fake and some characters from said leak got deconfirmed anyway.

So...Thoughts on the overview trailer?
Overall, I thought it was good. Wish he got more new gameplay clips, but thats k. also Happy we got a bit more info on WoL, and a new stage. To be honest, Xander mobus did great as the announcer, but when he was announcing some things, he sounded really angry xD.
