So since we are getting a "Fighters Pass" I bet we will be getting other Passes. Like Spirit Pass 1 or Mii Costume Pass.

Thoughts?

I would personally love an Echo Fighter pass. It'd be a good way to get more characters, while also being quicker to develop since they're based on existing fighters.

People HATED the plant when it was initially confirmed though and blamed it for their characters not getting in. Some of them even acted like Sakurai was personally insulting them even though he just wanted to test his creativity by coming up with a moveset for something so wacky and unconventional. Once again, people tend to be really offended when their most wanted characters don't make it in even though we already have so many.

That sounds fun. Still hoping for some costume DLC for standard characters, and if we got an echoes pass, it’d also be cool.

I do wonder if the fighters in the DLC will also come with new spirits if they’re from a new franchise. Bayo/Ryu came with trophies in Sm4sh, so it’d be fun to see some of them. Especially if we do get info blurbs.

2 Echoes = 1 Character (in terms of pricing) makes the most sense to me. Plus they wouldn't have to add any additional stages (since none of the echoes from existing franchises came with any).

Maybe a few music tracks, but that may be pushing it.

Cloud is pretty easily beat in "Cool Final Fantasy characters." Even in his own games, Sephiroth has style in spades.

I think as long as they were reasonably cheaper(unless they also brought in new stages/music)people would be mostly okay with that. Especially so if they were given the time and attention that Ken got in the moveset and stat department.

Protoman and Tails would be my go to choices for an Echo pass. Don't know any other Nintendo echoes I'd want since Black Knight's an AT, and Dark Samus is already in the game. Maybe Black Shadow?

Thanks buddy, Lee Chaolan is my second favorite fighting character. In many ways he is Tekken's version of Ken they even both do the same taunts. I was very disappointed that he wasn't included in StreetFighterXTekken as I wanted my team to be Ken and Lee. Maybe ill get my wish to come true if they make TekkenXStreetfighter, which there is plans to, but who knows when they will release it.

I would love Miyazaki to make another film, but I understand he deserves his retirement. Did you hear there is a Ghibli theme park in Japan, that sounds like a place I would want to go to.

Ah no wonder they all sounded kind of bland. Like eating a bowl of Kashi cereal, its just ok. I was trying to be generous, but in my real honest opinion they were all very boring in quality of music, definitely not winning awards in that area. That is true, I hope Yoko can take over then and give her spin on the music. She has an amazing talent of capturing the essence of what the music should sound like. Im sure she could make Dragon Quest music beautiful, and with the hot water the DQ composer is in right now it might be the time to replace him. I don't know if you saw her perform FF15 music with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. I will link the video down below, but you can tell how passionate she is and how amazing her talents are. She would definitely do Dragon Quest justice if they let her compose the music for Smash Ultimate. So I would love this, if this happens just to see what she comes up with for Dragon Quest.

It seems Hitagi is backing out of their claims that Katalina is in with their recent post, any thoughts on the situation?
And Abel's theme is also really good it gives you a spy like feel. I just suggested Cody's theme as it would also represent Final Fight in Smash Ultimate.

I told you, unless you've been a long time fan you won't appreciate the deliberate music style. Not sure, but I think it won awards (at least in Japan), and no I don't think they should ever replace Sugiyama. You know, I said Yoko just like that but I thought the name was familiar. I met the lady, such a nice person. She has a great track record (no pun intended). Not only FF btw, SF too and she actually did arrange for Smash in the past (since Brawl).

I haven't read anything new related to Hitagi, but Hitagi said he himself is not assuring anything as things are still on the table. That's when he got the info. Everything is decided now however, so I'm not sure if he knows anything beyond that new point. Has anything surfaced?

I’d love to see Tails in. He’s my vote for “most deserving,” and I prefer him with an older Sonic 2 inspired moveset - so he’d work great as a Sonic echo.

Plus Chemical Plant or Casino Night tracks.

I’m also still of the opinion that Twili Midna would make a good Zelda echo so I wouldn’t mind seeing that as well. We did lose all of the Twilight Princess looks in the roster.

If it takes a full year for a fighter pass with original characters, I could definitely see an Echoes pack being developed more quickly.

Realistically, I'd like to see Shadow, Impa (if not based on Hyrule Warriors), Dixie Kong (unless she's unique), Malos, and Octoling.

As far as the fighter pass goes, I haven't really said anything about it, but my picks would be Elma, Geno, Banjo-Kazooie, Phoenix Wright, and Amaterasu. Yeah, that's a lot of third parties, but they'd all fit well in Smash, in my opinion. Also give us an Edgeworth echo for Phoenix and a (only sort of kidding) Franziska von Karma echo for Simon/Richter.

It's NonSpecificGuy 's regular argument against Sora. It's brought up every time we talk about him lol.

It makes sense, but I believe it plays up Corporate Disney as the big corporate fun police that everyone believes them to be, and downplays Square's involvement in negotiations. While negotiations would mainly be around Nintendo and Disney, Normura and Square Enix would still have some say in it, and that's overlooked. All I'm saying is that Disney would be more willing to work with Nintendo if Normura and Square Enix light a fire under them. Also, a deal between Nintendo and Square Enix, say for Kingdom Hearts games on the Switch, could be used as a bargaining chip with Disney.

Additionally, A.G.L. brought up an interesting point about Nintendo working with different multimedia companies, namely Universal and Warner Brothers, for movies and other entertainment ventures, which raises the very real possibility that Nintendo and Disney struck a deal for a movie or series of some sort that we don't know about. It's a hypothetical, but still a valid point. Besides that, Nintendo and Disney already have a relatively positive reputation, and if negotiations take place with Disney Japan, the vice president has already expressed interest in Sora's inclusion. I understand that he's one person, but negotiations would be much easier if there is support/pressure from inside the company to include him.

Also, it's ****ing Smash Bros., the most prestigious crossover fighter and celebration of gaming as a whole. I understand Disney wants loads of money and Smash DLC won't make them oodles of cash, but the promotion they get by putting Sora in Smash is being severely underestimated.

What I'm saying is that, while yes, negotiations for Sora would be difficult, they likely wouldn't be as difficult as they are made out to be.

It's interesting, because no one cares about Dr. Wily, Chef Kawasaki, Dr. Wright, Metroid, Moon, Sheriff, Riki, Starman, etc. not being playable. Everyone's just like "Cool, those are fun."

Perhaps Assist Trophies should only be characters like that, whose potential and popularity are limited, but would still be fun to see in the game. As opposed to characters like Isaac, Ashley, Alucard, Knuckles, Zero, etc., who are all popular and sometimes even protagonists, so obviously people would want to play as them, not see them as an item.

At least Ultimate has shown that more than just Little Mac can make the leap from Assist Trophy to character. So we'll probably get one or two more in the next Smash, even if it is a reboot.
