Official Smash Ultimate Discussion

Almost one month has passed since release. In retrospect....

  • This is by far the best Smash ever. Like, I don't even know how they will top this.

  • Pretty freakin' good; I have a few qualms over things like internet play, balancing issues, etc.

  • It's ok, but [insert Smash game here] is better.

  • I'd rather play Parcheesi.

We're all sleeping on the true Western 3rd party:

:teemo:
I know that people use this phrase on this thread with such a different purpose that it has completely lost itself in its irony but "Who?". And I mean this in the most literal and straight way. I just dont know who is that.

I know they've already been decided on, but I'm still skeptical someone would be able to accurately identify all five DLC characters this early. Some are no doubt developed to an extent they'd be more well-known, but others presumably would still be in quite early stages.

Not that there wouldn't be people privy to their inclusion, just that some must be at a stage were leaks are much more uncommon.

Can we somehow ban people like Verge and Hitagi from ever leaking stuff about games again? All they end up doing is spoiling surprises, killing hype, and bring out the worst in everyone. We need to run them out of town. (and by "town", I mean the internet)

They've claimed that ArkSys is making a Granblue fighting game, and if it comes to fruition, I'll believe them. Simple as that.
Semi-off-topic, but while a Grandblue Fantasy fighting game sounds interesting, I kind of want a Guilty Gear style Xenoblade fighting game instead :v

Why the hell would you witch hunt people telling you info for a game you participate
I get disliking them, I totally get that, but you don't need to "run them off the Internet". That's messed up.

This speculation cycle actually benefited from Vergeben, like it or not.

Because otherwise, what would we have had?

Box theory wars non-stop, which STILL happened
Blog Theory and why maths will guarantee a YUUUUUUUGE amount of newcomers
LOLMUSIC THEORY
Chairs................please, no more chairs

Maybe because I'm a cynical old ****, but I'd rather know all the new characters day 1 and avoid all this needless fighting over stupid ****.

This.
Plus, I actually enjoy leaks. True leaks. I like to be informed on these sorts of things ahead of time, it helps me adjust my expectations.

My biggest deal with Hitagi is simple:

They've claimed that ArkSys is making a Granblue fighting game, and if it comes to fruition, I'll believe them. Simple as that.

They're the ONLY person who's brought up the idea of a GBF Fighter being made, and Granblue has two big events coming up that it could possibly be announced at(December New Years convention and the 5th anniversary in March).

Otherwise? Ehhhh, no dice.
I still won't believe them then, because it has no relation to Smash. Let him get something right about Smash itself then we'll talk.

And what he's saying about Smash? It just don't sound plausible in the least.

Honestly, I'm still curious about the VGAs.
Like, we've never seen Nintendo announce Smash content at an event like this.
The most I remember is the EVO tournament announcement announcement.

Ugh, these 4 weeks are going to be hell.

So, to all Street Fighter fans, which SF game is your favorite?
*Cricket Cricket* *Cricket Cricket*.....Welp

I feel like Xenoblade has the best potential for a fighting game as opposed to Pokemon and Fire Emblem.

Thanks for the info. It makes sense why I dont know it now. It is from one of the only three videogames that I absolutely hate. Its all youtube´s fault. But it isnt what it may seem. Its just that this whole year, I have received almost everyday LOL commercials from YouTube. Sometimes like 6-15 times in a single day and 2-3 in the same video. Add that I spent between 4 to 7 hours on YouTube and it gets tiring fast.

You guys are ****ing crazy for defending leaks.

I honestly liked it better when we're totally in the dark and playing guessing games with no "inside sources" to crush our hopes. It was more fun that way.

Sure, maybe we shouldn't attack the leakers for doing what they did, but they definitely need to shut up.

Because the only times Nintendo announces stuff at the VGA's, either

-Smash 4 was already done with DLC
-Smash 4 literally just had its direct announcing Bayonetta and Corrin
-The Switch is a thing and Wii U got left in the dust

Where did I defend the concept of leaking? I simply said it was horrible to run leakers off the internet.

The other thing that makes me unsure of DLC being announced at VGAs for Smash is that seldomly does Nintendo announce a new fighter to something that is prominently for one country. Sure there have been cases but the VGAs are mostly western focused.

"Totally in the dark"

Except we've never been.

ALL of E3 was leaked on 4chan the day before, and even Smash4 went through Gematsu very early on. We haven't been 'in the dark' in regards to Smash since Brawl.

You don't have to follow the leakers, man.
You could choose to stay in the dark yourself.

I don't defend leakers. I just think calling for witch hunts against them is a bit much.

Also, just a reminder.
Don't do this:
Leakers, real or fake, are still people. Let's not be jerks to them or try to witch hunt them off the internet.
Some of them, outside of leaks, are just as big of fans of smash as we are.
others, like hitagi, don't really care too much for smash and are just sharing info because they have some and people are asking.
supposedly, anyway.

The **** is this? The wild west and the rule of mob mentality? What's next? We accuse Artsy Omni Artsy Omni of witchcraft because he can draw?

Just because you don't like them doesn't mean that everyone does. If you don't want to be spoiled, then why are you in a Smash Bros. internet community, where spoilers are inherent by nature?

The past Smash games lead me to believe that even if they didn't leak, someone else would.

Okay, maybe I misread, but doesn't ANYONE think the leakers should get SOME kind of punishment for wrecking all the hype and surprise?

And by that you must mean EARLY Brawl, because Brawl's roster leaked in its entirety before launch through text posts too. People didn't believe it, of course, because "R.O.B. was already an enemy in Subspace", but it happened regardless.
