I'm more-inclined to believe we're getting Minecraft and no new Namco character if we're getting an Ubisoft character.

Like I stated above, it would not be fair to Bandia Namco to not get a second rep. If this were to happen it would be really unfair to them. Considering they are putting more work in Smash Ultimate than any other 3rd party. I can't see them developing the game and putting in all these second rep 3rd party characters and not asking Nintnedo for a second rep. It just does not make sense that they are developing the game and yet get no second rep.

They did, but it's not unique.
I've personally heard it on Toon Link and there are reports of it being on Sheik as well.

By virtue of developing the game they make more money than all the 3rd parties in the game
AND they get their mascot Pac-Man in the game

They don't care about what's morally fair...they're a company and are making FAT STACKS doing this game. I really doubt they're too concerned.

Yeah, they don't strike me as a company that's modest about including their own characters. Which is why I find the lack of a second Bamco one extremely fishy. They got to have one of those spots saved, if not in this pass, maybe later.

I hope not..DQ MCs are always the most boring since they are meant to be stand ins for the players.

Which is why it's likely that we could get a secondary character or Slime instead, those are popular.

Although the least expected pick would be the goddamn Dragonlord.

By virtue of developing the game they make more money than all the 3rd parties in the game
AND they get their mascot Pac-Man in the game

They don't care about what's morally fair...they're a company and are making FAT STACKS doing this game. I really doubt they're too concerned.

I still think they're deserving of reps too. Payload or not, characters are still characters. It would be a shame if we don't get anyone else beyond just Pac-Man. They have so many characters in their library that any two would be fantastic (provided there's incentive for more characters beyond the five we're getting).

one of the villains would be great, they tend to be far more invocative of the games than any one character can truly be. i could easily see dragon lord getting in if they decided to go with someone iconic from the first game that isn't a slime

I'm biased but I think his chances are pretty decent - Nintendo characters appearing in Ubisoft games, him getting a trophy in 4, not having a spirit (I think?), Nintendo making the DLC suggestions, the two companies being pretty close lately etc.

I just don't see it, its not just about the money. Its about equal representation, and I don't think Nintendo would do that to Bandai Namco. Having Pacman is great, but we could easily make that exact argument about every 3rd party's second rep. For Capcom they got Megaman they don't need Ryu and Ken, but they are in the game. For Sega they got Sonic in they don't need a second rep, and yet they have Bayonetta. For Konami they got Snake in he is one of their mascots, but yet we have Simon and Richter. For Square Enix they have Cloud who is one of their mascots we don't need another rep and yet we are hearing we will get another Square rep.

It just is not fair to Bandai Namco despite that they are making more money. When it comes down to equal representation its not fair to them. I really doubt Bandai Namco will roll over and say not only am I okay with not getting a second rep, but I will help you make the second reps for all our rival companies.

Nintendo already did it to Bamco in base game. No third party "needs" any sort of character rep.

It doesn't matter if we feel it's fair or not. When Nintendo goes "btw y'all are about to get ****ing MILLIONS working on this game which your most iconic character is in alongside a library of his music, references to your characters, and a stage just for him, you also get top billing" then they're gonna do it not worrying about "grrr they bettah put in Lloyd"
