Waluigi has modern internet memes, but Wario has a far bigger history with Nintendo. Not only does he appear in practically every game Waluigi is in, but he also has his own games to further distinguish himself from his purple companion.

If Waluigi were to get in Smash, I can almost guarantee you that his meme status would slowly fade away. When that happens, I think he'll become a normal Mario spin-off character again - one who people would only recognize if they played Mario Kart.

But I doubt he'll be playable until he gets in a main-series game

Don't get me wrong Digby is nice but....he's....bland? There's not vivid personality there IMO. There's a lot of character in her to the point I was sad that they didn't put as much effort into him.

Even with his increased role in that Happy Home spin-off.

which is probably a strong point against Tracer. If Nintendo wanted to open the gateway to guns in Smash OW would be a good route to go though solely on that front. (personally I think Winston would be more fun in Smash but that's just me)

That's right! See, this is what happens when your crew refuses to ever play Smash any other way besides 1 v 1 Omega no items all the damn time. That's why I'm sooooo finding new people to play with.

You know it wasn't until around a month ago I learned R.O.B.'s FS in 4 was not the same as Brawl? Thank god I'm playing multiple different ways in Ultimate. You know, actually play on real stages, use items sometimes...

That's good to hear! Smash is so much more than all that competitive nonsense. Don't get me wrong, competitive can be fun to watch, or even play, but these games offer so much more when you play them the way they were meant to be played.

Honestly, I only see Square, Rare/Microsoft and Bandai Namco being the 3rd parties for DLC,

I wouldn't sleep on Capcom's crazy chances.

Can you tell me 2 Nintendo characters who could, from what I see, classify above even K. Rool enough to be premium DLC players must go out of their way to get.

Not sure about being above K Rool, but the likes of Twintelle and Elma would certainly turn heads given their respective popularity.

All our rules have been broken by Sakurai at least once now except the "has to originate from a video game" rule.

Cloud got in because his franchise had appeared on Nintendo systems. Plus, he was only chosen due to Sakurai wanting someone recognizable.

Cloud does not mean anything and everything is possible.

I also would really love for the Story Mode to kind of have a Main Story Mode and some character based Story modes like fighting games do. Of course, it would be rad to have a grand story with Falcon fighting the likes of Black Shadow, Samurai Goroh, Deathborn, Zoda, and Don Genie; but I would also love for characters like Lily Flier, Jody Summer, and Mighty Gazelle to get a story mode.

There's like so much potential for us to see the rest of the F-Zero universe since alot of it is only known in the stories of the racers. Like who really created Zoda (if they don't do the anime thing), are the Creators actually the gods of the F-Zero universe, is John Tanaka canonically an incel?

Stuff like that needs to be addressed

Basically, on the scale of iconicness, the undeniably iconic ones are as follows:

This is the "show this to anyone and they'll tell you exactly who they are" tier.


This is the "We'll probably call them Princess/Zelda/Ash, but we know what they're from" tier.

Anything outside of this sees a notable drop, from what I've seen. That being said, there are some specific fringe cases.
Specifically:
- Many will recognize him, but not know his name, or even Street Fighter, but may recognize him as "a fighting game character." This is because Ryu himself has become an archetype.
- Punch-Out!! is in a weird spot here. The game is generally very well known here in the States, being roughly the same tier as Frogger. Like Frogger, Punch-Out!! gets referenced and parodied here quite a bit (like being referenced in shows like Family Guy, and having ESPN parody it in a segment promoting the Maywether/Pacquiao fight from a few years ago, to name a few). However, this has more to do with being associated with Mike Tyson than anything, and most wouldn't be able to name Little Mac outright. This is also very region-specific, being mostly notable in the US.

In more fairness, Final Fantasy and Nintendo have a lot of history together and two of the most well-received RPGs of all time were exclusive on Nintendo until remakes/ports happened (FF 6 & Chrono Trigger).
