I would absolutely love that. Popeye was directly responsible for the Mario series and inspired the concept of power-ups. If one non-video game character deserves to be in Smash, it's definitely him.
They're not in meltdown, that comes from the Spawn-Wave podcast and taken out of context, they started to talk about the leak and basically the whole chat was screaming ITSTRUE like a bunch of childrens and calling out some non-existant tinfoil hat theory about all of the insiders being paid by nintendo, heck, they laugh about it a bit before/after for how stupid that reasoning is, especially since some of them aren't really buddy buddy with Nintendo

The only people who need to apologize are those who harassed them--it's never cool, and they don't need to wait until a Direct as they should apologize immediately. Not those of us having fun speculating (at least when it's fun). But it's that smug arrogance, topped with sweeping generalizations from insiders I don't consider to be a justified reaction, even if I can understand where it's coming from.
