What's this meltdow on ResetEra ?

Hmmm... What if this week we get a smash direct and then next week we get a Nintendo direct that announces the N64 classic with BK and then BK in Smash. It would line up with Microsoft potentially announcing Banjo Threeie during their Nov. 11 event.

These days, I feel as though I'm the only one in the world who wouldn't be excited at all about an N64 Mini.

I got all the games I liked on the Wii VC, and I can play them all with a non-****ty controller on a console I already have hooked up. Both Zeldas and the best Star Fox were released on 3DS with very good ports. As for Banjo Kazooie, Conker and Perfect Dark, those are just on my Xbox.

I know the Smash community is famously toxic (as is any in the FGC) and that things got a bit heated in the ESRB Leak back then with the same stuff of Team Fake and Team Real... but it was never like this, holy ****. It's not just people on the outside, people inside this very thread are creating narratives to make ****ting on people justifiable, talking about broken confidence and how people they don't agree with should "just shut up" and come just to post mindless support for whatever they believe.

This is ****ty. This leak is unprecedent on all fronts. Yeah it's fun and all that, but it's also probably the worst on this series history by a long shot.

All this talk reminds me of the toxicity of TF2's MvM mode.

For those who don't know, the consensus there is "must have this specific load out and play the game in this very specified manner or else you don't deserve to play at all."

I've been thinking and came to an interesting conclusion. Resident Evil might be the biggest third party left that revolutionized gaming and has strong ties to Nintendo. Made horror games mainstream alongside Silent Hill and made the term 'Survival Horror', having seen it's fair share of Nintendo releases, including Nintendo getting the remake of the first game, Resident Evil 4 and Revelations first and even getting a DS version of the original. Considering the weaponry used it's possible to work around the no guns rule with knives and explosives. Only real issue is who to pick, Chris, Jill or Leon?

Glad to see the leak is still alive and well. I think the reason I most want it to be real is freaking Mach Rider. Geno, Isaac, and BK are hype. Sure. But Mach Rider? I'm a sucker for obscure picks and old franchises getting love. It's why G&W, (for Westerners) Marth and Roy, Ice Climbers, and ROB made me so happy when I first saw them. They're very interesting picks and I'm curious to see how Mach Rider would play. Heck, I'd love to see this somehow precipitate a new Mach Rider game for the Switch.

No other leaks have gotten me excited like this since they all have drawn from the same pool. Mach Rider would be awesome, and instantly becomes my most wanted character (after Phoenix and Ray Mk.II)

What if the next direct showcases Dixie and Banjo? What would be your reactions?

I'd be pretty stoked to see Dixie, Echo or not she deserves it more than Shadow imo. I mainly just wanna see some Wolf gameplay, snake is back and we got to see him but Starfox fans always get overshadowed (puns) by something.
Banjo-Kazooie... I get it, and the unique way they can be taken is appealing to me. My grime is characters like this usually aren't very viable. I'm hoping characters across the board are improved and patched to be in more of a competitive state. Obviously that can't every TRULY happen, but having such a huge cast that's never even seen do to lack of... everything... is kind of dissapointing.

I've been asleep for a bit - and I'm wondering - what's the take on MarioTehPlumber being behind this? From what I gather, he covered the "Chadondorf" leak, and he had a video thumbnail with the leaked characters that dropped pretty near the date of the Grinch leak happening. I know it sounds silly, but this is the guy who bought 100-200 Rosalinas amiibos just because he didn't want people to have her.

The stuff there is a coincidence but admittedly he's a either insane or a troll so idk. I'm sure it's been talked about here but I don't know the consensus.

Did you not listen to the audio clip? All of the "industry insider personnel" (which includes that NeoNeoGAF moderator <- that is what Resetera is) is acting "holier than thou" because HIS references to the game makes him disbelieve the leak. The problem with these pompous ***** is that it is entirely possible for their source to have given them OUTDATED and/or leakbaited info, something that all of them refuse to accept.

Accepting that as a possibility kind of undercuts the entire concept of being a leaker though.

It's like if your local meteorologist came onscreen and said, "This Friday, expect showers. Or don't. To be honest I'm really just making educated guesses. It could be sunny, who the hell knows." Like, we know that, but admitting so out loud kind of hurts one's credibility. They're standing by their sources because they believed them to begin with, and the banner still isn't proven by any means.

On the flip side, if the banner turns out to be fake and their original sources WERE correct, they'd look like idiots flipping back and forth like that. It'd ruin their credibility.

Those are the only ones I'm supporting. I'll very happy with Dixie but I'll cry with Banjo because bear and bird seemed impossible to me for a long time, I'm only backing them recently but the jiggy hunters are one of my most beloved characters ever.
Those are the only two (three) left for me, the others to come are just fillers.

Yeah well if the N64 Classic had Ura Zelda (that being the cancelled game and not me lol) then that's an insta buy for me lol.

Kingdom Hearts and Mortal Kombat are bigger franchises i'd argue. I mean ties to Nintendo aside.

Although in MK's case, it had it's ties to Nintendo consoles up until MK VS DC.

The popular opinion during the ESRB leak was that it was fake, because people didn't want it to be real.
The skeptics who don't believe any leak right away (like me) were on their side then as well.

Unpopular Opinion Time: I really don't care at all about Skull Kid. I don't dislike him, but I don't think he's necessary either. I'd take Urbosa as a Zelda newcomer in a heartbeat though.

I've said a few times that I'm Team Real, but if by some chance it was faked, I wouldn't be disappointed or surprised at all. Hell, I'd be incredibly impressed.

Resident Evil is the largest Japanese IP not represented in Smash right now, the second largest is Dragon Quest. (This isn't including mobile stuff of course.)
