So something that was brought up yesterday (I think) for the idea of Incineroar being DLC, but I believe Shroob stated Paid Subscription Character (Or to that extent)

Not sure if that was a joke, but lets think on that for a second. The online is not the greatest (compared to others) but could be something amazing for Smash.

How does one try to sell their online subscription? Add a "Free" Character to it.

And you know what sells well?

Now later down the line he could be DLC, but can be ready for people early by purchasing the Online Subscription.

Honestly I'd take only four unique newcomers if it meant we could also get a surprise reveal of Metal Cavern from Smash 64.

• Mach Rider and Chorus Kids aren't in the game, unfortunately.
• Sora will be revealed at the VGAs as one of, if not the first DLC characters. He might also be base roster.
• Shortly after Sora's announcement Lloyd, Banjo & Kazooie, and Rex and Pyra will be announced as characters to make the first DLC "season" (similar to how you could buy Ryu, Roy, and Lucas or Cloud and Bayonetta together in Sm4sh).

• 108 stages is real, and Corocoro backpedalled hard on that one.
• The Grinch movie will be mediocre at best.

This honestly wouldn't be too bad.

I wouldn't worry too much, as they ARE in the Grinch leak obviously, but then Mystic's saying some of the characters could potentially be DLC, one of which could very well be Chorus Kids/Glee Club.

I think they're fine.

But they were planned for Smash 4, it would be kinda a cheap tactic to make them Smash Ultimate DLC...

I think he's still going to be around, he's just not going to waste his time reiterating and explaining his discoveries/theories, while people are actively trying to inaccurately project his opinions and argue with him.

This will be the last thing I have to say on this whole ordeal.

The community has reached the point where they're using incorrect evidence to prove the leak is true. These image cuts and pixel colors are not evidence to the leak's legitimacy.. I will hold that opinion even should the leak be proven real.

The things that I have pointed out about the background are demonstrably true. Those discrepancies exist and you cannot argue them away. You can argue why they're there, in the same way you can argue why "disabled" was misspelled on the ESRB leak, and that is why I have never stated that it "proves" the leak false. Since Omni has offered this opinion himself, I'll reiterate it, because it's exactly the possible explanation for these discrepancies that I've had on the backburner myself. There is always the chance that the empty background was reverse engineered from the actual banner, because they were never sent the empty one. I consider it very unlikely, but the scenario exists if we operate under the belief that this company is responsible for designing these displays, and not just printing them. I have never claimed the background discrepancies prove the leak fake because I have always allowed for a situation, however unlikely in my mind, where they're present and it's still true.

I have further offered opinions that help the validity of the leak, only to have those ignored in favor of weaker arguments that I'm continually asked to restate my opinion on. People seem desperate to prove me wrong when I've offered supporting evidence wherever I saw it. I consider the fact that the banner has been proven to wrap cleanly around the cylinder to be good evidence in support of the leak. And yet, twice today I was tagged and linked to a post insisting the display isn't actually accurate at all as a counter to my arguments about the background, even though this itself would be a counter against the very evidence I gave that I believe helps the leak. I find this kind of thing immensely frustrating and it really just shows I'm wasting my time even trying to be neutral, because it's obvious that neutral still gets read as team fake.

Sorry you feel that way. This kind of scenario brings out the worst in people as their desires and emotional investments blind their ability to form rational arguments. For what it's worth, I think you do a very good job of providing as clear a viewpoint as possible and staying objective. I, and I'm sure many others, appreciate the effort and insight you've provided.

Okay, I have come to the conclusion that this banner is real, but at least one of the characters is leak bait...
Specifically Banjo, A couple reasons:
It feels strange to have 3 Third Party Newcomers in one direct, assuming Mystic is right about Lloyd...
Nintendo didn't get all goody goody with Microsoft until recently...
Mach Rider seems to fit in with the mech gun thing
Isaac is basically confirmed, thanks to the growth item...
And Chorus Kids were planned for Smash 4...
Of you ask me, it just makes sense...

That being said, it seems likely there are 2 leak bait characters, due to the lack of Incineroar.
In that case, I'd say the second leak bait character is Chorus Kids

I don't think a third party character would be used as leak bait. Especially not one that:
-Belongs to a company with no representation in Smash whatsoever
-Is one of the most requested characters for Smash

Ok, Inceneroar confuses me. What if he was cut due to time, but was almost finished? Like, they got far enough for a model, but time constraints stopped them from finishing him. Or he could be leak bait as almost every insider unanimously agree on him and him alone, which I find susoect.

I think it's plausible that he was on the newcomer table, and had a little bit of work on him, but got cut due to low priority (Like chorus kids getting cut in 4, and almost met the same fate for being low on the priority list). Kinda like how Gematsu got old info, in which Chorus kids and Chrom were scheduled to appear, but the rumors held out until the final roster leak happened.

The team probably figured since he was a new pokemon (unknown to the public for the first year of Ultimates development) he wasnt popular, and also considered pokemon already was well represented enough, so he got left on the cutting room floor. The team could reuse him for DLC, since now he HAS been gaining popularity since S/Ms release and would sell well as a dlc character. I think the team IS thinking about revisiting him (if he isnt already in at this point), so thats where all the rumors and rumblings are coming from.

Nope, I'm factoring in Mii Fighters into there. It's still 79, and considering they count Pokemon Trainer as 1 in regards to marketing(It's weird, I know), marketing this as "79 CHARACTERS!" just doesn't roll off the tongue as cleanly as "80 CHARACTERS!"

If Nintendo, and possibly even Sakurai himself, saw all the positive reactions to the lineup of characters and potentially makes them as DLC.

It wouldn't happen, unless there was like a season pass model, but that would honestly be the greatest outcome for fans of this lineup even if it was a hoax.

The Grinch leak could only be real if (a.) the roster that I've been led to believe is final is actually incomplete and (b.) one of the characters I know about was recently cut for some reason. I can't speak for any of the mods, journalists, or social media crew, but I suspect many of them are in the same boat as me.

Dang. Well, this is without a doubt one of the most perplexing and interesting leaks I've seen in my time on Smash Bros. boards in general. I don't really know what to believe anymore, but regardless, the investigation that has been done on both sides has been incredible and thought-provoking. Never thought a leak could get this deep. Haha.

I'll just sit back, temper expectations, and keep talking about the fun circumstances this leak could provide.

But one thing is for certain: The next Direct is going to be insane.

I just wanna point out another thing: Mystic specifically said that there are “oddities” with the banner and that multiple sources would not confirm or deconfirm the banner for him, they just said that certain elements are “off”. That makes me think that while he doesn’t have confirmation on Banjo, Chorus Kids, or Mach Rider yet, they’re not the oddities. The way he said this makes me think the oddities could be certain stuff like the background, character placements and poses, etc and of course the missing Incineroar. So I’d be surprised if he outright deconfirms any characters on the leak as the oddities seem to be smaller stuff than them.
