If Sora gets in Smash all references to other Disney characters are likely to be removed, not just because it'd be a nightmare from a rights standpoint, but also because they don't fall in line with Sakurai's ideals of keeping Smash strictly video game related. Any KH content will be strictly related to the original creations from within that series.

Yeah, Kingdom Hearts stuff would strictly be the game's original content, with the possible exception of a trophy of Cloud's KH self.

I’ve alqays been one to say that if anyone could get Sora and Donald and goofy, it would be the absolute madman Sakurai.

I agree with this. Adding a future character helps keep the game feeling fresh for longer, and it's how most of us discovered Roy (and Fire Emblem Elibe) existed. Also, personally, I really like Corrin's gameplay. If they give us Edelgard, who apparently can use magic and axes, then that will help to round out the FE roster a bit. I know, I know, too many FE reps, but right now it's still full of Marth clones. The series has been given attention, but not the representation it deserves.

I mean, to be fair, we're talking about Sakurai, the guy who probably made Square more open to crossovers, which they use to almost never do... (before Cloud in Smash 4, Square never really did crossovers. look at what's going on now... Noctis in Tekken 7, 2B in Soulcaliber 6. I'd argue Cloud in Smash 4 is the reason all of this is happening...)

A lot of KH fans I know aren't that interested in the crossover aspect. Which I can relate, since it's rarely done good and add something significant to the story. Tron World was surprisingly effective on the themes and Birth by Sleep generally done it well but aside from that I agree, it's mostly aesthetic.

Though, it seems KH3 might change that.

Many people + passion = inevitable. Doesn’t excuse the behavior, and even I was shocked by the level of toxicity this leak has spawned. And harassing insiders is never right, even when they’re aggressive/arrogant back (the worst I’ll do is unsubscribe to Gamexplain if they’re wrong).

It’s difficult, but there’s been calmer times in Smash history and this will likely be a bumpy phase. I do worry what will happen if this leak turns out to be fake.

That could actually be why Sakurai revisited the chorus kids to begin with to honor the composer. Especially after Iwata. I’m pretty sure Sakurai is friends with them too as he has connections all throughout Nintendo.

So it actually makes a lot more sense for chorus kids being in.

Oh I'm not knocking them. I love Sora and the gang of OCS. I'm still heartbroken that Aqua got Norted after all.

However it's not just them that's keeping the series adrift either. And no matter what way you shake it?

They're always going to be overshadowed by the Disney elements because Disney like Nintendo is that company that just creates a character and they become very recognizable and iconic to the point that when they're in a room with another fictional character they're going to command the attention.

Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Jack Sparrow, Jack Skellington, Elsa, Olaf, Rapunzel, the Princesses, The Beast, Stitch, Simba, etc, etc.

These are all Disney characters that people just know and all have appeared or will appear in KH. They draw people into Kingdom Hearts that don't touch video games because they are just megawatt stars of film and animation.

No Disney characters or references since Smash would have to strictly stay game only, the mickey keychain would be removed and any mention of Mickey would referred as “The King” in his trophy description and Donald & Goofy only known as his “friends”

Plus even if Mickey Donald & Goofy and other Disney content were used in the game, people will legitimately start advocating for Goku and use the Disney content as a counter argument.

And like everyone said, it would be hella expensive anyway.

Well **** me. I guess FF RK and World Of Final Fantasy didn't exist since Sora is in without any Disney characters in Boths games who happened in a world Post Smash4 Cloud.

Smash 4's inclusion of Cloud seems to have been the seal that was broken in Square-Enix and allow them to do tons of crossovers since then.

Nier Automata, FFXV, KH, Octopath

All of those games got tons of Crossovers and it seems as Cloud was the deciding factor.

Cloud get in Smash 4. They see the reaction

Noctis get in Tekken 7
Assassin's Creed Odyssey get a Crossovers with FFXV and it's main vilain Ardyn
Sora make his first non-KH appearance in WoF
He then make it in Final Fantasy Record Keeper, a game that ONLY put Final Fantasy's heroes, and guess which series got a special treatment?
Octopath crossed over Brave Exivus alongside Nier.
2B in Soul Calibur now.

We live in a world where MAYBE at first people followed KH for the oddities that it was.

But all these years later, KH is a Mastodons by itself, the KH worlds are now mostly a pretext. A Settings to let the original story unwind.

Just look at the reaction past E3. Remember for what people screamed...
The Frozen world? Or the Story stuff revealing the fate of a certain Characters?

Most of the people now follow the games to see the end of Sora's adventure. Sure, the DISNEY Characters are still here.

But saying that they're now not a secondary things and not mostly a settings to make the story progress is a lie.

Sora REPRESENT the oddities that is KH by himself. A Disney characters made by the Mind of Tetsuya Nomura, a Final Fantasy designer.

I agree with this. From my experience, most of the people that make up the KH fanbase care more about it's original stuff than about what new Disney worlds there are. People will of course get hyped to see their favorite Disney film become a world in the game, but after that, they'll go back to the story aspect of the game.
