So I'm curious, what do you guys think the is gonna be the average score that critics will give Smash Ultimate?

Of course I'm just making an assumption here, but if he knew how to edit the picture in paint, wouldn't cropping the name out completely work better?
He used the last brush available in Windows 10 paint, which is the least opaque it seems.

Notably, it also says that the snapchat was taken 11 seconds ago in the picture, it's really evident, am I supposed to believe his friends got this picture right away and took a screenshot right away?

Maybe he told them he was sending them it and they got ready to screenshot so they could leak? But who knows. We have to wait for one character reveal and their banner update.

What if Inceniror was leak bait meant to throw off the leakers, and the leakers fell for it and now they are trying to cover up how wrong they are. Seems to be what is going on.

It's gonna be a 62% from Rotten Tomatoes, a 45% from French Eaters Weekly and a 7.8/10 from the Catholic Church because not enough holy water.

You could say the pictures were taken and uploaded later, maybe passed around.

Yeah I think his left arm is on fire from the shoryuken. There's a sort of yellowish aura around it.

At this point I think that to a degree this is probably real.

There’s enough signs to point towards it being the case.

Also as papagenos said in his fantastic summary video today. There is to much going on here to for it to be a ordinary fake and that leakers are apparently really perplexed by this.

A little early to be talking about this considering we don’t know much about the story mode or the remaining fighters. If the story mode is good, I would give it probaly around a 9/10 but if it is bad, 8/10

I wonder what that could mean....

On a serious note, the amount of "insiders" against the leak is so high that it is suspicious to me, that normally doesn't happen as insiders want to stand out with their information. And then of all things, Smash, the game that most likely is the most secured game by Nintendo, all of them agree?

This is totally leak bait. Call me a conspiracy theorist but conspiracys happen in Smash just look at the ballot.

The craziest part about this leak is that it still isn't dead.

I was sure this would be debunked within the first day. Every time evidence is found against it, evidence is found in its favor. Either this is the real deal or the faker is some kind of criminal mastermind.

I want off this ride.

Alright, let's go.

Rayman: 30-40%. He had decent ballot presence (judging from polls) and Nintendo seems to have a good relationship with Ubisoft. He doesn't seem to be that popular in Japan, though...

Rex: 80%. Popular, easy to get, makes sense in pretty much every way.

Sora: 50%. "Predictions" aside, Sora is really popular and has an upcoming game. The Disney copyright issues might get in the way somehow, but other than that, his chances seem pretty good.

Spring Man: 75%. Makes sense, but Simon already has the long range melee moveset, so I'm not sure what they'd do with him. We'll see.

Tails: 25%. I could see this happening, but Tails isn't that popular, especially when compared to other Sonic characters.

This makes it hard to believe his friends saved this picture, to me.

This is what I don't get about this argument: How would linking a fake leak to Eric Bricard and his company make the leak stronger given that the likely conclusion to that plan would have been that he and the company would have denied any association with Smash Nintendo like Marina? How would the leaker know that the company wouldn't have put out any sort of statement killing the fake leak on the spot?

And now im starting to buy that the leak was real...

Gamexplain are well known to dish out 30min+ vids about a single rumour or theory, they went radio silence with the grinch one. They just uploaded a short vid (2 min ish) bsically saying "lol its fake". Then they didnt even mention it in their weekly coverage of the smash news.

This random person brought interesting point about how they might know or have ties with insiders AND a series of anomalies.

Before any clever guy comes here to bash me, im just pointing toward facts about the leak, i like the content gamexplain covers.

Yeah, I like GameXplain too but something is up. They brush off the biggest leak as fake without going into too much detail when they've covered leaks in the past to silly extents (thought tame next to LaxChris).

To wit, the ones talking about this are either the big news sites (i.e. ones who can afford lawyers) and the smaller under the radar content creators who only gained followings in the Smash U hype. Feels like there's pressure there...

Or else they have the real insider info and are just getting mad that a fake is gaining traction. Also possible.

Urgh, it's like trying to sort out Quantum Physics here.

I figured it was a Shoryuken. My concern was the direction his head and torso was facing, but it's a probably less extreme angle that I saw at first glance anyway hahaha.

In which case, they probably were able to do everything immediately.


Which doesn't lend credence to it being real or fake, because this could have been from Graphic Designer extraordinaire to someone else helping him, or some young janitor of some sort. Idunno.

But this is also likely not the case (you can imagine how many hypotheticals I had to hop through to type all that).
I said before that I really wish I could have seen the video proper, but that's not possible, so I haven't really felt comfortable commenting on much of this haha

I do have a legitimate problem with people claiming the name being poorly blocked is fishy.

If the idea was to incriminate Eric, why cover it at all?

If the intent was to point to Eric as a means of leading people down this long, convoluted rabbit hole, still, why bother at all with blocking it?

In either of these two scenarios, attempting to block it makes no sense. The only sensible scenario to me is that whoever leaked this was legit trying to cover the name and left it at 'good enough' not realizing it could still be deciphered. I constantly see similarly poor name smears in Facebook post jpgs that are obviously attempting to cover names for the sake of those involved, but doing a poor job.

Granted that everyone who watches smash directs probably also watches general directs, but I can't remember them announcing the smash bundle in a smash specific direct yet. This week would be the perfect time to do so before it releases.

Well if the game has a story mode of any kind that'll lead Zero Punctuation to review it and give it a "Flame Bait" out of "This game isn't for me and is objectively bad because of it".

(Like his stuff normally but he's got an axe to grind on Smash.)

It’s not disrespectful nor is it impossible for it to be Issac originally.

Isabelle was likely always planned as a ac tie in but that doesn’t mean she was in this direct. She could have been planned for a later one.

And the second an earthquake occurs japan censors things. The Pokémon anime has lost several episodes because of this.

Now they aren’t going to cut a character who had months of work put in, but delaying their announcement makes a lot of sense

No, that's a combination of Luigi's smoke trail, ROB and some clouds that end up tricking the mind into making a rough shape because of how blurry it is. There's a higher quality image of the leak that shows it a tad more clearly.
