Come to think about it, Steve looks kind of ugly.I don't want Steve in Smash because he's ugly as ****.
Nothing to do with Minecraft or anything.
I just don't want to see his ugly face on my screen.
That is not a Smash rule. I mean heck, Subspace Emissary did give some characters personalities. Mr. Game and Watch has no personality either.I just want to point out that one of Sakurai's rules when selecting characters is that "the character must display personality in their game".
What sort of personality does Steve show in Minecraft?
You are making me want a Subspace Emissary sequel even more....His deep character development and heartbreaking backstory has made R.O.B. one of my favorite characters of all time.
Why not??? They're the exact same fighter. It's the only time a character literally replaced another character.let's not compare Tink to Young Link.
According to Kamiya:It literally does not matter if Nintendo is 100% funding Bayonetta 3 or not, Bayonetta is still a property owned by SEGA, which still makes her third party.
Enough with this asinine meme.
If so, then why isn't Young Link a costume for Tink? There are some differences that could be enough for him to keep his own slot. Why not??? They're the exact same fighter. It's the only time a character literally replaced another character.
Ill say this. Outside of The original N64 commercial, Smash 3ds (American and Japanese) had the best commercials.Pretty much everyone. Especially that super long commercial with the guy from Stranger Things.
Well that's news to me. I rode the Smash 4 hype train since 2013 and I don't remember anyone calling the game's marketing "childish". I do remember people memeing the sh*t out of that Last Seat commercial tho.Pretty much everyone. Especially that super long commercial with the guy from Stranger Things.
They're different characters, but they have the exact same role. Young Link isn't "officially" replaced by Toon Link, but it was implied. Basically, they wouldn't do anything different bar slightly different movesets at best. The role of a child Link that is a clone is the purpose of both characters. They're both clones of the Adult Links. Hence, same role, different character. If so, then why isn't Young Link a costume for Tink? There are some differences that could be enough for him to keep his own slot.
Does this imply the likes of Ganondorf and Bowser are more attractive to you?I don't want Steve in Smash because he's ugly as ****.

You clearly do not know @GoldenYuiitusin.Does this imply the likes of Ganondorf and Bowser are more attractive to you?
You saying Ganondorf isn't a sexy beast?Does this imply the likes of Ganondorf and Bowser are more attractive to you?
Dedede is the most gorgeous hunk of man in Smash FREE.Cmon, everyone knows the sexiest man in Smash is
I think it would be cool if Young Link was an optional form of Toon Link, but that was a horrible argument. If so, then why isn't Young Link a costume for Tink?
I think it has to do with different proportions. Pretty sure Sakurai has made a comment in the past that for a character to be an alternate skin they have to at least match the proportions. That could be done with Alph and Olimar since they wear the Spacesuit, and then Koopalings are mostly a clown car with a Koopa head sticking out, so it didn't go too far off the mark either. Toon Link's head alone makes their proportions really different. That guy has a head as big as his body.I think it would be cool if Young Link was an optional form of Toon Link, but that was a horrible argument.
Different size/proportions. Similar reason why Marth and Lucina (if I recall correctly) didn't work out.If so, then why isn't Young Link a costume for Tink? There are some differences that could be enough for him to keep his own slot.
Whether that's true or not, that would only make his inclusion more likely to drive sales, not less. Essentially, ditto to what @Staarih said.Even though Steve is a popular character, look at the Smash fanbase vs the fanbase for Minecraft. There is not nearly as much overlap as there is with Cloud, Ryu, and Bayonetta.
Steve/Minecraft would definitely pull in a lot of this/newer generation's gamers. Every new Smash game is a first Smash game for someone, anything Minecraft would definitely attract a whole new crowd, which I think would only be a positive.
If anything, it would represent what indie games can become rather than what they are.@RelaxAlax put Steve on his roster too. I think he made a very great point stating that Minecraft can represent indie gaming as a whole. Although I disagree that Minecraft represents indie gaming NOW.
I believe his big selling point isn't his popularity, per se, but his recognizability. His biggest virtue is of being the default player skin in a massively popular game. How popular is Steve among the Minecraft fanbase?
While a good idea in theory, I feel like Microsoft wouldn't want to go through negotiations for only a stage when they could make a case for a character, especially since they would want a portion of the proceeds. Can we just get a Minecraft stage? A stage would do a great job of encapsulating what people like about Minecraft. I mean who the hell cares about Steve as a character?
Essentially, yes. However, he's also a skin that's so well-recognized that he has more officially produced merchandise than most Smash Bros characters. My problem with "Steve" is that it's not a character. Literally, "Steve" is just a skin. (Unless the telltale games have Steve as a character)
While a decent argument, I'd argue that Minecraft has made its mark on history. It's already over six years old (not counting open beta), and it's the second best selling video game of all time after Tetris.Steve is part of the one category of characters that still has no precedent in Smash: 3rd party, modern, non-nintendo exclusive. Bayonetta was 3rd party but also nintendo exclusive. Pac, Mega Man, Ryu, Cloud, and Sonic are all 3rd party and not Nintendo exclusive but are also all characters with a lot of pedigree ("retro" so to speak even if they do use their modern designs more or less.) In my opinion I don't know if they're ready to start adding characters that are 3rd party, not nintendo exclusive, and fairly new.
On the other hand... a tiny part of my heart really wants Steve in smash just as a way to intentionally anger people I know. A lot of them would get mad if I beat them in smash with Steve.
I think Marth/Lucina was just that Sakurai wanted Lucina's Falchion to hit differently than Marth's. Lucina is height difference is so small that it's insignificant, and they easily could've made them match heights and nobody would've noticed.Different size/proportions. Similar reason why Marth and Lucina (if I recall correctly) didn't work out.
Perhaps yes.I think Marth/Lucina was just that Sakurai wanted Lucina's Falchion to hit differently than Marth's. Lucina is height difference is so small that it's insignificant, and they easily could've made them match heights and nobody would've noticed.
1 adult link and 1 child link is all I'll except as 3 links would be way too much. We want new characters not the same character over and over. The only new Link I'll accept (outside of the already confirmed BOTW Link) is Wolf Link.
I could see Wolf Link getting in, if only because it would also include, and probably focus more so on, Midna.1 adult link and 1 child link is all I'll except as 3 links would be way too much. We want new characters not the same character over and over.
I know we already have Duck Hunt to be a good boy, but everything is better with 2 good boys. Wolf Link for Smash 5!1 adult link and 1 child link is all I'll except as 3 links would be way too much. We want new characters not the same character over and over.
Yeah, that was my thought too. If Wolf Link got into Smash, he'd obviously have Midna riding on his back to help him, so we'd basically get 2 new Zelda characters for the price of one.I could see Wolf Link getting in, if only because it would also include, and probably focus more so on, Midna.
The guy who made this really does a good job on selling the concept of Laboman (what people are calling him) as a playable character. The palette swaps write themselves with different colour JoyCons and you could easily see things like the fishing rod being incorporated as his grab, or even Side-B that could act as a tether.
*cough*we don't have a quadrupedal character anymore now that Ivysaur is gone.
Giant Robot seems like a better candidate.
That'd be his Final Smash.Giant Robot seems like a better candidate.
I have answered for my sins... My post now reflects my shame with many doggos. The guy who made this really does a good job on selling the concept of Laboman (what people are calling him) as a playable character. Well he's probably likelier, but I'd say Laboman represents Labo as a whole better.Giant Robot seems like a better candidate.
It kinda reminds me of Mr. Hanafuda.I'd be cool with either, though I believe Laboman the more novel character.
