Question for you all:
Would cut one of the legendary 8 for a character of your choice?

Honestly this is suuuper selfish of me but I would totally cut Jigglypuff, Ness, and Captain Falcon for Rex/Pyra, Elma, and Midna even if everyone hates me afterwards. Only those three though, since they're the least iconic Smash characters in the legendary 8 outside of Smash

I mean do we need Ness? We have Lucas after all. So yeah see yah Ness, hello Shantae.

I weirdly feel like Captain Falcon echo.

I just want another character that plays like regular Captain Falcon.

I'd cut Pikachu, Ness, and Mario (because we'd still have Dr. Mario, Pichu, and Lucas), and replace them with Tails, Quote, and my lovely personal pick, Fluidity Water.

Personally hoping that Mach Rider is a girl...honestly, a lot of -great, qualified and high potential- female characters either got deconfirmed as assist trophy’s, or are most likely just not going to be playable. It’s a male dominated cast and I really don’t think there’s anything wrong with portraying a really cool character as female, and the more the merrier. And before you come for me for whatever reason, I’m a guy with three older sisters who I grew up thinking were total bad***’s...and I thought they were cooler than any guys I knew. So I always always always love when there are independent awesome female characters, especially in video games. Makes me think of my sisters

Just an aside if the leak is true:

Of the characters in the leak (excluding Incineroar because I don't trust the insiders), Mach Rider is the only one I have a real interest in. This is mostly because he/she is a retro character with what appears to be a blank slate personality-wise. Plus the concept is cool

I really wish Jigglypuff got cut in Melee - she's only around because she was in the original 12 and really doesn't deserve to be here imho. Don't hate the pokemon (though Wigglytuff is better) but as a Smash fighter...so much WHY is she still here? So I'd unquestionably Thanos-sacrifice her for one of my most wanted. As for the others...sorry, but they're too iconic.

And replace him with Tap Trial Girl or Elma, depending if the Chorus Kids are actually in the game or not

I honestly don’t even care if Mach Rider is male or female. As a woman, it would be cool to have another female character but if Mach Rider isn’t that then that’s fine too. At the end of the day, we’re still getting a retro Nintendo character if the leak turns out to be true.

Jigglypuff is pretty damn iconic simply due to the first run of the Pokémon anime.

Captain Falcon was MADE iconic because of Smash.

Earthbound is considered niche, yet Off and Undertale both source it as one of their inspirations for those games, and many people list it as their favorite game like Markiplier, for pehaps the biggest example. It's got a lot of credit given to it.

In my humble opinion, you just can't cut the OG 12

If you were to actually think about it, these characters are just functions. They're just doing things. Pikachu, case and point, is a favorite because he's really fast and has great mobility, right? So our more technical players, all they want to do is short hop and that kind of stuff. Well guess what, the Mii Brawler can do the same thing, Captain Falcon can do the same thing. Lucina can do the same thing. Go ahead and try them out.

There are areas behind the characters that are correct...

But they're the areas that were shown before Simon, Richter, Chrom, Dark Samus and K. Rool faded in at the end of the direct.

There's like 60 something other characters. If the details behind them were all incorrect we'd surely have a much longer list of discrepancies.

She was almost cut in Brawl (might have been in Melee too idk for sure on that though) and was one of the last reveals in 4. It's clear that outside of the anime's first season she's been largely irrelevant.

Though the ease of development argument makes sense as her attacks seem pretty simple to program, not to mention she floats like Kirby.

I think the argument that the guy who made the Snapchat video being too old is one of the worst arguments of team fake. I don't know anymore where I read it but the guy could have made a Snapchat video for his Smash crazed son and then the son wanted to show how cool his dad is and posted it to his friends. One of them being the in a Discord where he finally put it. It is at least as likely as him not knowing what he was working with.

But I guess we will never know how it went because in my opinion it does not really matter. The whole thing could be a very very ambitious fake or it might as well be true. I doubt that anyone involved will come forward and will say how the information got leaked exactly.

That being said I am team wishful thinking but well aware of some things being not quite right with this whole topic.

IDK why everyone is so quick to cut Jigglypuff, heck i still use Jigglypuff on my teams in pokemon to this day its a pretty good not cheap/stressful to catch alternative to Chansey/Blissey. Plus now its part Fairy.
