I wondered if the whole Echo Fighter/Echoes thing might have had something do with Dark Samus's inclusion since before she was confirmed, but I looked it up, and in Japan, Echo Fighters are called "Dash Fighters" for some reason. So unless Sakurai is aware of the localization team's change to "echo," and that was somehow planned since the beginning in December 2015, I doubt it had any bearing on Dark Samus's inclusion. It'd be awesome if we could say it did, but right now it doesn't seem likely.

Echo Fighters are called Dash Fighters in Japan because instead of an Epsilon (ε) they use a Prime Symbol (′, called "Dash" in Japan).

So Dark Samus is 04′ in Japan, rather than 04ε.

Isn't it funny that the symbol they use in Japan still has a connection to Dark Samus?

I think the thing that stings the most is, now with the rumor that the Direct is coming around the 8th, and we have good reason to believe that that's actually the case, it's more or less a waiting game now.


We know that this week and next week are more or less no chances of having the Direct suddenly sprung on us, so there's not even an air of "It could happen this week! Be on the lookout!"



We're just.... waiting until the first full week of November.



At least the blog is finally giving us NEW stuff, albeit, we're not allowed to actually see it.

Honestly if I can get Rex/Pyra/Mythra in DLC for Ultimate or even just Elma I will be set. I don't think we need 3 reps from Xenoblade. (even though I would love it lol) unless the next XC comes out before the next Smash and is absurdly popular. I'll still push for Rex in the next game if just Elma gets into Ultimate but I won't be upset at all if he doesn't get in

No.

Though, if there was going to be one, Simon was it.

I looked it up, and in Japan, Echo Fighters are called "Dash Fighters" for some reason.

In Japan, Echoes are marked with a ' symbol instead of an ε. And the Japanese pronounce the ' symbol as "dash".

That's why K' from King of Fighters is pronounced "Kay-dash".

Skull Kid and I'm set. There are other characters I'd quite like, but if we got Skull Kid, who I've been hoping for since Brawl, I'd never ask anything from Sakurai ever again. Ever. Promise.

I don't think anybody truly has a singular character that would set them for life.

Case in point, during the Brawl days, people considered the Kirby series complete with just Kirby, Meta Knight and King Dedede; and then Bandana Waddle Dee became popular and started appearing in more things and suddenly Kirby wasn't so complete anymore.

The Dragonborn.

Yeah, he's got little support, but I'd go absolutely nuts and change my main for that. I really want to see DovahKirby.

And with as big as this Smash is, I think I'd rather extensive DLC, like for a few years or so, over another reboot. I keep seeing people put up reboot games, and I can't imagine cutting people. Yeah, there are characters I'd rather not play, but considering one of my favorites was cut () and how happy I am to see him back, I don't want this hypothetical reboot for a looooooooooong time.

It doesn't have much, but also can you blame them? Smash fans are already teetering on the brink of calling Yoshi, Wario, and DK Mario characters. Which, let's be honest, they kinda are and are just seperated so people don't freak out over 12 Mario characters (I don't care about number of characters per series or w/e though). Adding another charactee would push it over the edge since, for some reason, people view Yoshi as a Mario series more then DK or Wario (possibly to the tonal differences that set in with those two). Yoshi should be getting a Crafted World stage at least, if not in base then in DLC. And while not likely at all, a Yoshi AT like Kamek would be cool!

I love how my genuine support for him started because of this thread when KH was a laughing stock of speculation back in Ultimate Announcement and people tried to downplay it or exaggerate his lack of chance and we had literally no ****ing idea that there could be another Square-Enix Character and if you said someone else than Geno it was blasphemy.

So I decided to support him out of like "underdog chance" and try to show that nothing is impossible and fair game.
I then decided to replay the KH games this summer with the HD collection. And fell in love with the games again after so long and feel like Sora would be such a Natural fit for Smash that it's a crime.

Then Vergeben appeared with his Square-Enix claims, then Hitagi, then Spawn-Wave, the supposedly VGA Announcement where KH III and DQ XI could very well be part of the nomiee, then Supposedly Tansut, then the Tweet from Hashimoto that got deleted.


And I was happy to see people, Competior, YouTuber, suddenly considering Sora as a genuine option suddenly, to the point of putting him in the top 3 alongside Geno and a Dragon-Quest Character, some literally placing him right behind the Star Puppet.

Now I don't care if he doesn't get in. Nor would be sad, because I think that it's already incredible that the view of him changed during the Ultimate speculation. And now we just have to wait and see.

Including Jack over Ren or Yu would be like picking a Chocobo or generic Black Mage over Cloud or Terra or an actual character. Jack would probably be an AT or maybe a part of Ren/Yu's moveset.

I've already gotten my two most wanted ( ) so I'm pretty set. A Rhythm Heaven Character would be nice but I'm not holding my breath, same with Professor Layton.

Even though Bayonetta is thankfully getting nerfed, I still get worried that she'll be really un fun to play against. Maybe they're less flexible then they were before, but Bayo still has crazy combos that don't look fun to get caught up in and can still carry opponents towards the blast zone for a kill, and getting caught by Witch Time at kill percent feels awful.

But then I remember that I'm no longer trapped with my big-body Charizard and now have a frame-1 pseudo air dodge and I calm down. It'll still probably be a match up in which I'm to scared to switch to Zard though, even when Bayo is at kill percent, but I think I'll manage with just Squirtle and Ivysaur. Whenever I counterpicked Mewtwo against Bayo in Smash 4, Shadow Ball zoning was my best friend, so hopefully I'll be able to do the same with Razor Leaf. But I suppose this is all just theory crafting right now.

It seems like people don't want to give the Yoshi series any legitimacy. And no, Yoshi wasn't separated because "they wanted to slim the Mario numbers down." It was separated because Sakurai felt that the way Yoshi plays in Smash is better represented by his own series rather than the main Mario ones. This "muh Mario sub-series" mentality has to die in a fire.

Oh, and the Yoshi games are MASSIVELY tonally different if you played them...

Despite being on the Geno train, i do think Sora would fit pretty naturally in smash from what little ive seen of KH.

The Luigi's mansion stage is consideres a Mario stage right? God I wish Sakurai would just call them all Mario characters and stages instead of being inconsistent. The Smash fanbase would cry for 4 minutes and then be fine.

This is interesting to me. Would you rather not know when the next direct is, and be dissapointed every week when it's not that week. Or would you rather know it's very likely to be a certain day and now you have a day on your calendar to Mark and count down the days to?

Like in retrospect I like Nintendo's whole surprise gimmick when it comes to annoucnements, but man sometimes I wish they would announce directs like weeks in advance so you could look forward to them. Like March - June was agonizing, but got way better when Nintendo basically said they weren't going to reveal anything until E3.

Idk I personally would rather a waiting game than a game of suspense.
