Eh, I do honestly think Digimon has a more worldwide appeal than say possibly Tekken or Soul Calibur due to the merchandising and multiple seasons of anime.

buuuuuuuuut in terms of video-gaming community, it's far less likely you'll find someone that even remembers the Digimon games or that there are a bunch of releases on the PS4 and further releasing ones. I know for a fact digimon games don't show up on a lot of the general populace's radars as compared to some people I hear talking about Soul Calibur.

The bulk of its popularity comes from an entirely different fanbase essentially.

No, I don't think there's anything wrong with that. But people in your situation are why we so desperately need them to release an official version. Lots of gamers clearly are willingly to pay to play an official release (myself included), and Nintendo is certainly aware of the fan translation, so why can't they just release an official version already!

Absolutely. Not sure if I believe the image leak as we've seen very realistic image leaks in the past (Palutena 3DS leak for example.)
Whether the leak is real or not, I think he's incredibly likely.

Digimon Universe have a Game on 3DS from 2017 and Digimon Survive will be on the Switch in 2019.
Digimon is also much more recognizable than Tekken and all Tales of games.
