Tbh, my opinion on Rayman:
He's not dead, he's just waiting to get a new game. He's only SOMEWHAT irrelevant, but for sure not completely.
I will be very surprised if he isn't in Smash Ultimate as an Assist Trophy or DLC character.

Metal gear solid v just came out? Final fantasy has like 18 games with no end in sight, Mega Man just had 11 released and PacMan championship edition 2 released late September in 2016. Hardly dead franchises.

I'm sure Nintendo knew behind the scenes stuff when including those fighters in

Megaman had like a gazillion collection bundles on the horizon and Final fantasy 7 is getting a remake.

Metal Gear Solid V came out 3 years ago and never on a Nintendo console, Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 came out 2 years ago and was quickly forgotten (it was great though, everyone should play it), the Final Fantasy 7 remake is probably a decade away if it ever actually happens, and Mega Man was dead when Smash 4 came out, his last game was Mega Man 10 in 2010.

Relevancy is not the be-all end-all when it comes to character inclusions, first party or third party.

Nah dead franchise. At this point Assasins Creed is more relevant and the choice of Alexios or Kassandra adds more representation for those into that type of thing.

Anyway my point wasnt meant to be taken literally obviously I meant that whole 3d platformer thing that's the style of the main entries.

Origins and legends are the New Super Mario Bros of the Rayman franchise.

But its a reboot, the 3D style of Rayman hasn't been touched in years now outside of releases of Rayman 2.

Also Rayman Globox and Barbara are in 4 as 3D trohpies which marks their first appearances in 3D in years now.

So because they didn't give you the main title feel, you're excluding them as points for relevancy? That doesn't seem fair. It's your opinion, but that doesn't matter when arguing how relevant the series is.

I have no idea who those are, but everybody knows Ezio. He'd definitely be the ACreed rep if we ever got one imho.

I'm all for more non-marthy FE characters
Especially ones that are half pokemon

The hate for Corrin is very easy to get, it has less to do with his actual play style and more to do with him being the technical 4th FE adittion to the game, second to the DLC, as one of the last DLC when people were expecting Wolf K. Rool Geno, while simultaneously being an inclusion meant to push a recent release, his timing just wasn't great. Now whether any of those things bother you or not is obviously subjective, but the actual reason Corrin got the hate and still does is very clear

His story may be over but his impact is still felt through the series. Every game since 2 had some variation of Ezio's Family as the series theme. His robes were a bonus skin in every game, he has even been mentioned several times since in the series.

Rayman Origins and Legends are platformers, which is what the series has been since it’s very inception. You run, jump, beat enemies, and get to the end.

They may have differences from the original trilogy, but at their core, they are what the series has always been, platformers.

Also, the New Super Mario Bros. games are main series titles.

This goes back to what I was thinking that we shouldn't look to NOA to tweet a direct announcment if it's a specific smash direct. Now I didn't know it was Nintendo Versus that tweeted the last one after it's EVO reveal...so I think it makes more sense to look towards them for an announcement. (I'm also half expect Sakurai to announce it via the blog)

I think the hate for corrin came from the fact that Fire Emblem already got two newcomers in the base game, then got Roy as a DLC character.
It just seemed like there were other franchises that could have used some love, but they chose to give even more attention to FE.

Corrin himself is a fun character to play and definitely one of the most unique FE characters.

I just think he was a poor choice for one of the final DLC characters. If they'd held off on him until ultimate I think the reception would have been way better.

Mega Man was not dead for Smash 4 as much as people try to revise history (2010 - 2014 is not a long time). If you want to include SF x MM which Capcom picked up then it's two years.
Castlevania is not a dead series, Lords of Shadow 2, whether you like it or not, wasn't that long ago. There's the Netflix series too.
Metal Gear isn't dead (yet). Survive came out this year and even then, 2015 isn't that long ago.
Rayman isn't dead. Again, 2013 isn't that long ago and Legends has had frequent ports.
Cloud will be relevant so long as Final Fantasy is relevant.

F-Zero is a dead franchise.
Gex is a dead franchise.
Prince of Persia is a dead franchise.

Yeah for me main titles need that vibe. That big story and budget that lets everyone know it's a main title. Legends and Origins are on mobile you cant put a game like Rayman 3 on mobile.

The creator of the series talked about how Rayman 4 would be a 3D platformer when we think Rayman most of us think 3D platformer as that was when hes at his most iconic with all due respect to the Rabbids and Legends series of games.

I think female corrin is way more appealing than male corrin. it's a shame male is default, especially when we already have male as default for robin.

Your sass is a little easier to respond to then the sheer firepower Cutie Gwen has. She uses curse words.

But yeah the other trolls (hehe) aren't really worth talking to when, after two or so messages in, they just are not backing down. It's fine responding once or twice if it's some conversational piece but when it gets pretty obvious it's going nowhere that isn't inflammatory is when it's pretty obvious people here should stop.
But getting on a stoop to say so is meaningless because it doesn't make ya any less reactionary than the others.
