Almost one month has passed since release. In retrospect....

  • This is by far the best Smash ever. Like, I don't even know how they will top this.

  • Pretty freakin' good; I have a few qualms over things like internet play, balancing issues, etc.

  • It's ok, but [insert Smash game here] is better.

  • I'd rather play Parcheesi.

They already have a role in the game.

As amazing as that would be, Hawlucha is already a Face Luchador and aside from high-flying it'd be difficult to convey "Face" in a design.
Plus I think everyone would be okay with no Fighting type starter for a while.

(If so and it reveals Ken, I just want to see Cesaro swing him around and Sheamus Brogue Kick him)

I agree however who says it has to be fighting? Although there hasn't been a Water Fighting starter, which is a little odd.

There's a couple of problems with that.
First, I'm not even sure we WILL have a Mewtwo situation, that was largely announced as a reason to buy both games which isn't a factor this time.
And secondly, you want a character that is for the most part universally liked and guaranteed to drive sales in that slot if it happens, and Walugi is a very divisive character, especially now and especially in Smash.

I hope the next set of characters is like something cool, such as Isaac or Skull Kid.. And especially Medusa! I find it kind rather difficult to get hyped for but a mere Pokemon or a Street Fighter jobber nobody cares about.. Tbh, Smash is better off with just Ryu as the sole Street Fighter rep, we dont need another one.

As someone who wanted to see K.Rool joining, i suggest to anyone who is upset about their character being an assist trophy or denied to be a fighter to keep the patience.

It was bad for me and other K.Rool fans to see him in the last game as a costume, but we kept trying, staying patient and with hope.

Most likely tomorrow if they keep in line with previous announcements.

Also LeakyPandy on Twitter is still heavily hinting that something is going to happen this week, although its unclear if it's Smash or even Nintendo related, but apparently they hinted at the August and September directs the same way.

I'd guess tomorrow. From what I remember last direct was announced the day before or so, and the Robin/Lucina trailer was either same-day or the day before.

My memory is bad so I might be wrong but unless something is tomorrow I'm not expecting much today.

In all fairness, DLC has more or less been its own thing in Smash 4 rather than an extension of the base game.

I mean, both Mewtwo and Lucas had trophies in the base game, but that didn't stop them from being DLC nor did it remove the base game trophies we already had. Of course, regular trophies and Assist Trophies are far from the same thing, but it does show that base game content does not necessarily deny characters the chance of being DLC.

And Waluigi's demand since E3 is, to put it simply, undeniably high, so making him a DLC would definitely sell well. On top of that, he already has a model and some animations, so he'd be easier to make than someone who has to be made from scratch. Less effort for more money. An ultimate combination.

With that said, do I think it'll happen? Probably not, but it's still an option that can happen.

Does anyone think Paper Mario still has an outside shot for Ultimate? He's really the only (realistic) character left I want besides Geno and Isaac, who are heavily rumored. But no one seems to talk about Paper Mario. I feel like he deserves a spot at this point.

If we didn't have Doctor Mario, i wouldn't mind him.

If assist trophies can be converted to fighters in the DLCs, I can see Krystal, Knuckles and Waluigi getting the treatment.
Also, I'd like if some playable characters would be updated to be also assist trophies, such as Donkey Kong launching barrels at players.
If one of those characters is in use during a match, the respective assist trophy would simply not show during that specific match.

I mean I get that three Marios is kind of ridiculous (although there are three Links now), but Dr. Mario shouldn't stop Paper Mario from getting a spot. I feel like he's got too much significance and too many installments that at some point he's got to get in. Plus there's so much obvious moveset potential with the partners, hammer etc.

If Geno gets in, Paper Mario would likely be redundant since both would likely rely on timing button presses (since Mario RPG and Paper Mario both have it as a mechanic), so I'd be iffy on the matter... unless they use a partner gimmick for the latter instead, I guess.

If he doesn't, I sincerly think he could be a very unique character so people won't really complain too much about getting a third Mario.

I feel Medusa deserves a spot in Smash at this point, Kid Icarus needs that villain representation.

It does make sense, if and only if there's enough demand for Sakurai to reconsider--there's nothing preventing him from making assists playable through DLC. That being said, if I had to bet on the likelihood, I expect there to be little to no chance of it happening (even though I would love Bomberman to be playable in Ultimate).
