Relates to my pipedream of young link having a transformation mechanic, but balancing all those move sets would be HELL

Yeah I think having them be separate characters would be easier to make happen, weirdly. And then you wouldn't have to sacrifice a special move to make the transformation happen, each would get that extra move.

I think it's because the egg blends so naturally into her stomach, makes her look pregnant fat. She also appears to lack shoulders.

I liked these and planned on getting one until I saw they ran on AA batteries and aren't rechargeable, it killed the hype for me.

Melee fans love Melee for it's gameplay and Fox memes, not roster count. Ultimate's gameplay is different then Melee's, so some people will still prefer that game.

I didn't mean to throw any shade at Melee or its community with my last post, for the record.

Not entirely true.
Watch a video of Melee and a video of Brawl side by side, Melee is noticeably faster.
Not to mention the weird stuff like wavedashing, Melee has different gameplay than other Smash games.

Honestly Melee itself is gonna be the Melee killer.

The skill ceiling is too insurmountable for new players to even try to compete, and top players will eventually leave due to "aging out" or losing interest. We've seen it most recently with Armada. Time is Melee's own worst enemy more so than any other game.

This. Melee's strong now, but five years? Three years?

Melee's entrance curve (Mechanics, Setups, Lore) is so intimidating now I'd be surprised if there were more than a hundred people joining per month. And maybe a tenth of those will stay around for a year.

Contrast with Smash Ultimate, easier to learn, most if not all of Smash 4 is going to carry over, more appealing to newer players.

Not hating on Melee, I think it's awesome people still lug around CRTs, but at the same time, people are still lugging around CRTs.

That leak's been around for almost a month now, and it still hasn't been debunked yet. Either it's legit, or the guy who made it is a genius.

Ken is the only unrevealed character to have so many concrete things going for him to be real.

- He’s one of the most iconic characters who history is dealing with clones.

- He’s been mentioned by Verge at least.

- He has a screenshot that hasn’t been debunked by respected people that have an extensive knowledge on Smash and their game design. (ArtsyOmny, Vaanrose).

- And the GameCube packaging (or the box), despite me not thinking it’s finalized, points that between Palutena and Cloud, there is one blank possibly in that section, meaning that one of those chracaters may get an echo fighter to be right next to their counterpart since that is the side not shown yet. And look who is in that section: . Ken would go right next to Ryu.

I think Ken is the only one where I would say is a lock at this point.

No confirmation at this point about Mii Costumes. The voices...should be neat, though.

I don't think custom moves are coming back, given how monstrous this roster size is, but costumes will likely make a comeback. Though, since there probably won't be a way of unlocking them Smash 4-style, they might just be presets.

Here are my predictions based on the number of potential characters left:

If box theory is correct and there are only two characters left in the base roster, then the two that are left are Ken and Incineroar. This isn't exactly a controversial opinion, obviously, but it's one I hold.

If there are 3 characters left, then the 3rd is Vergeben's Square Enix character, and that will be Geno. Not Sora, imo; Sora, if he got in, would probably be as DLC. He might not be impossible to obtain the rights for, but he would be hard enough that I couldn't conceivably see him being a character that Sakurai would put in the base roster. Geno could be DLC too, but only if there are only two characters left.

Finally, if there are 4 characters left, Shadow will be the fourth as an echo of Sonic. Box theory would suggest that only Ryu is getting an echo past this point, but if there are 4 characters left, box theory is completely wrong anyway, and Shadow has been a decently popular request since Brawl, believe it or not. I don't think Steve is in the game at all until we get more solid evidence. Minecraft being represented isn't hard to believe at all, but, while I wouldn't mind him, Steve doesn't seem to meet all of the "criteria" Sakurai usees when deciding characters. If he did get in, I think he would be called "Crafter" instead of Steve in the vein of Pokemon Trainer and Villlager, anyway. I may be wrong on this, but this is my gut feeling.

4 is the absolute maximum amount of characters we have left, and even then, that would only consist of 2 true newcomers and 2 echoes. I don't see a reality where we have any more than that left for the base roster at this point.

Yeah, the only problems I see is the inability to recharge the controller, and constant need for batteries. Otherwise, it looks really good on the outside, and it couldn't hurt to try it out.

Here's a good food-for-thought question: What do y'all think will be revealed at The Game Awards for Smash Ultimate? DLC characters, stages, mentions from Sakurai, what have you.

With Smash coming out a day after the award show and credible sources saying that there might be a reveal for Smash at the show, the last Smash Direct doesn't seem to be the end of any new Smash info.

I see everyone throwing around the term "deserves". Forgive me, but, isn't it kind of cliché to say that a certain character "deserves" to be playable? I mean, everyone has characters they want and characters they don't want, and saying the characters we want "deserve" to be playable is like treating opinion as fact. No character "deserves" to get in the game. It's not like Sakurai has to put in a character just because they're popular or just because the fans want them. The characters didn't do anything special to make them be rewarded by being playable in Smash. It just bugs me that everyone throws around this term "deserves" as if certain characters need to be in the game. I'm glad Sakurai and Nintendo have the final say, because they know what's best for what characters get in and what characters don't. We as the fans don't know what characters Sakurai should put in. If fans had the final say what characters get in, the roster would be a huge mess.

I'd say Ken (Ryu Echo), Elma, some kind of Pokémon (Most likely Incineroar), a Kirby rep, and then Shantae as the "didn't see that coming" character.

I honestly think Ridley deserves the "didn't see that coming" epithet more than any potential newcomer.

Last I checked, It (along with the Final Smash Meter) was announced in Playstation Allstars Battle Royale
