I’d love to see Nightmare in Smash - and Siegfried as a costume or echo. Soul Calibur is one of my favorite game series, but the last few rounds have been trash. Hope the next one is good...

I remember playing Brawl and thinking how awesome it would be to have Ivy and her whip in Smash. I kept thinking of her using it as a tether.

Some people even says Yoshimitsu would be another choice especially since he'd not only represent Soulcalibur but Tekken too (Granted the Yoshimitsu we see in Tekken is a lineage descendant from the same clan that took on the mantle).

Even then I'd like it to be Nightmare due to again being the first third party villain.

I recall too Ganondorf can't really die then again I'm not too knowledgeable about Legend of Zelda lore but I heard something like that around those lines.

Once I get a Switch. I'll definitely have to get Breath of the Wild and Hyrule Warriors.

Well, if you believe certain religions (e.g. Buddhism), then all things have souls, even animals, plants and inanimate objects.

Religion is a... Tricky subject for me. Let's just say I've been having an easier time choosing to sit them out as of late than choose my starter.

Thats actually a pretty good point, I had completely forgotten about that.

Too bad it was Ocarina of Time Link... but, they could have his trailer with Young Link battling it out, then Nightmare pops up pummeling whatever opponent there is.. He ends up recognizing Nightmare as a throwback to Soul Calibur II.

Honestly I'd be fine with a Switch port of SCVI with Link reprising his role. Raphael wants a rematch after all...

There's also the fact since Sm4sh that Namco had been helping in making the Smash games, more the reason for Nightmare to star.

Yoshimitsu would also still be fine as well since he'd present both Tekken and Soulcalibur.

Possible Namco rep. I think I might've accidentally boosted the Soul Calibur talk when I brought up Vergeben. We could use a Soul Calibur rep.

It may be a good thing your image isn't working.

One of my favorite characters, but his gimmick is being able to attack while turned around, which doesn't work in a Smash-style game where you can turn around on a whim instead. He's sadly impossible to really work in, outside of an AT, at least.

I think Sakurai flat out saying that besides Heihachi, he couldn't think of a Namco rep besides Pac-Man for Smash4 says a lot.

I'll take "Things Sakurai never said" for 300, Trebec.

Here's what he actually said along with context:

Interviewer: Between Bandai and Namco, were there any other strong candidates for inclusion as a fighter?

Sakurai: There were none. We basically thought of all the characters at the start of development. We decided on characters we knew we could make. However, there were a few in consideration, such as Heihachi from “Tekken.”

This is in reference to Sm4sh development, which focused on iconic third parties and relevant Nintendo characters. I've highlighted the word "strong" because I feel like it's the important word here. All of the "strong" candidates are already in, so we can move on to lesser, more fan demanded characters like Lloyd. "There were a few in consideration" is also highlighted because it's possible that Lloyd or another Namco was considered alongside Heihachi. The nature of Smash Ultimate seemingly including more popular characters over relevant ones also bears mention as this can shift chances as well.

-Luke Von Fabre (Tales of the Abyss)

As much as I would love that (Tales of the Abyss is my favorite Tales of game), you can't deny the strong ties Lloyd has with Nintendo, or the overwhelming popularity Yuri has. I'd even say Cress has better chances as he's the "Marth" of the series.

I fit had to be a NOT EVIL character itd be Sophitia id imagine, she did get into Warriors Orochi 3. Id like Nightmare or Mitsurugi who also represent the series pretty well. Though id kill for Raphael.

Well it'd definitely be another female character and a third party female for one but Nightmare is probably the most likely because when it comes to third parties they tend to focus on the most recognizable characters of those franchises.

I haven't played too much Soul Calibur, but I'll try to explain as best I can.
Soul Calibur is a fighting game with all sorts of characters from fantasy-esque medieval/ancient times, the plot usually centered around a sword called the 'Soul edge', being a demonic sword that possesses whoever owns it to do it's bidding. The soul calibur is the exact opposite, made to destroy the soul edge.

They're fairly popular and successful fighting games with some level of customization. In a lot of cases, they tend to have crossover "guest stars" in their games. The one for the Gamecube had Link in it, some others had Yoda and Darth Vader, and I think Cloud Strife was almost put into the one for the PS2... I think it was the one for the PS2 anyway.

Yeah i had another non cubical theory about that how Devil Gene might be tied to Malfested from Soul Edge's influence carried over generations. And a sinking suspicion that Mitsurugi is the Ancestor of the Mishima Clan (its the epic brows)

That's one of my headcanons honestly. Soul Edge/Nightmare is the origin of the Devil Gene.
