Assuming they are already compatible with the Switch, I'd say yes.

Yeah, both the Wii U adapter and GC controllers work with the Switch

unless they're sharing the character rotation gimmick to Byleth/Teacher, i don't see them trying to put them in priority for DLC

I think that Edelgard is the most likely of the bunch to be playable.

Is it possible that she might be DLC? Maybe. I think that Sakurai may like the idea of an axe user to join the battle, which allows her to be distinct from the rest of the cast for using a weapon no one wields. That, and I realized that the art style and design for FE: Three Houses is pretty different than the previous games, a lot more “cleaner”, but that’s just me.

Putting not 1, but 2 7th Gen Pokemon is the kind of stuff that would create a lot of rage an dissapointment. Both Lucario and Greninja were poorly received (mostly because it wasn't Mewtwo). Putting Incineroar AND Zeraroa over the bunch of characters people are hoping for would create such salt...

I actually like Zeraroa a lot, I think it's design is awesome and I'd actually like to see it added to Ultimate..

I'm afraid that I might not get it easily when it comes out. I have to go to an actual store that will have it, because I'm not sure I can pre-order it right now. But I want the controller...

Anyway, do you think it will come with the adapter? Just making sure...

Edelgard seems to be the favorite of the three in terms of internet popularity. The axe is just a nice bonus. (Though, if I remember right, none of the three main characters shown used swords. It's lance, axe and arrows. Which is a nice touch.)

Well, any "requirement" gets thrown out the window the moment they add in someone that breaks it. (Snake, then Sonic, then Cloud, etc.)

But if we're trying to figure out the difference, Doc was the star of his own game(s). Same with Wario and Yoshi. Of all the spin-off characters, Daisy's the only one, to my knowledge, who's never been the star of her own game, though she did serve Peach's role in a main Mario title. Waluigi doesn't even have that going for him.

Meanwhile Toad somehow keeps getting passed over despite fan demand, to the point that the desire for him to fight currently got interpreted as "help fight Peach in her moveset". Captain Toad is considered the best ticket for including a Toad at this point.

Edit: While Super Mario Land by itself may not factor much, Super Mario Run seems to have contributed more, since Daisy can get a more active role in it.

I have never used my Smash 4 GC controller. I still have my working GC controller I used for the GC (not just Melee, but general use during the GC's lifespan). It survived into the Wii/Brawl days and the Wii U/4 days. I find using a new GC controller for Smash feels foreign to me. Its like buying a new Lazy boy recliner; it doesn't feel comfortable compared to that old one you molded in the shape of your body over years. I'm going into Ultimate with a 17+ year old GC controller.

While I do believe a Three Houses DLC rep is inevitable, I'd feel it'd be Byleth, since he is the Player Avatar. Of course, he is another sword user, and I know that irks some parts of the Smash fandom nowadays...

Eh, to each their own. No matter how you slice it, Dr. Mario is a spin-off and tons of spin-off content is represented in Smash. Unless Sakurai himself is quoted as saying spin-off characters can't be in, I see no reason to doubt Waluigi's chances for the future. To me, it's silly to discount a character for reasons such as them appearing in spin-offs (most that have been very successful, in Mario's case) somehow making them anything less. A character is a character, if Sakurai wants 'em cool. If not, also cool. I think we read into the decision making process a little too much sometimes, and we definitely have a habit of coming up with rules that probably don't even exist in the first place.

Plus, if people want to bring up "main game appearance" technicality, Waluigi is present in Mario Maker, which is considered a mainline Mario (and was also used as a point for Daisy by some).

If I remember correctly, it was announced the Tuesday before it was originally supposed to air. Then, after the delay, it was announced to be rescheduled to the 13th. I believe the announcement of the new date also happened on a Tuesday.
