It's not Toby who has the weird fetish, it's one of the Kickstarter backers who did. Guy paid to have his character in the game, and when Toby found out where else the character appeared (furry fetish porn), he hid the character away where it would be hard to find.

I think a Yo Kai Watch character is almost confirmed, due to Yo Kai Watch Blasters having a good amount of popularity and Yo Kai Watch 3 getting announced. I think Blizzaria would be pretty cool to have in, as making a move set for Jibanyan or Komasan would be really hard. I would say that Venoct is pretty likely, though.

There's also the rumor that a Disney representative, VP of Disney Japan Jason Scarpone, said that the rights are held by Disney, a little from Square Enix, but ultimately they would go to Tetsuya Nomura for permission as a courtesy. I still consider it a rumor as we don't have a first hand source, that I know of.

I firmly believe Minecraft content is in the game, so it makes me wonder if they're aware of that but are pushing for a character as DLC

I think Sora has a chance but, as much as people like to point out that one article, Disney will have to be a part of the procedure in some way. Despite then saying Nomura can basically do whatever he wants with the character the Disney name is still going to be on the box art of a Nintendo fighting game. They wouldn't even allow Dissidia to be that planned Kingdom Hearts fighting game.

Even if they do let Nomura run wild with the character, Sakurai isn't Nomura, and Nintendo ain't Square. Nintendo is actually now an active competitor to Disney since Universal acquired the rights to Mario and Pokemon movies. Sure, they might not necessarily be against the idea but to say Disney won't really have a say so in the inclusion of Sora is a stretch.

Does this mean Steve isn’t in Smash? Well, might be that they didn’t want to announce he was or wasn’t since Minecraft would be a huge deal for Smash Bros. But I agree with some here about it being DLC because the way Leaks have been coming Minecraft recently got super popular but the information is uncertain at this time.

Well, this news just caught me off-guard.

I was sure we'd get something at the very least for Minecraft, but now I'm worried. Of course, nothing will ruin Ultimate for me (that'd be dumb ), but of course we all have our small disappointments even when it's never promised. I'd be disappointed with other characters not being in, too, if you couldn't already tell lol.

Not spreading misinformation, I just don't take a second hand source as 100% factual. The video DaybreakHorizon linked was the video I was referencing. I personally classify it as a "rumor", as we have no first hand sources, the video itself does not have a clip of Justin Scarpone speaking on the matter, nor news outlets that reported on it, that I'm aware of. Also, my post was in support of Sora. I think the only issue is a difference in opinion on how we classify rumors.

Joking aside, really, SEGA changed their mind about Sonic in Smash more than once, that's why I don't consider Shadow a lock. Maybe some third parties are more touchy about their character becoming a clone, so that might be a thing.

No clue because I’ve never heard anyone said that yet but it’s possible there are creators out there.

Though I would assume maybe creators like GoW, Red Star? ( That company who makes RDD2 & GTA), and maybe a few PlayStation & Xbox franchises.

Here's the thing, so far, literally every developer has said this. (ok maybe not literally). It's Smash, who wouldn't want to see their character be in Smash. Them saying they're open to it doesn't really tell us much other than that they're open to it, and the way that I see it you should consider that attitude as the default for all developers. That only changes when they openly say they wouldn't want their character in Smash or if they're famously hard to work with.

But since the start of Brawl's development Sega and Sonic team have gone way done-hill and they have created a great relationship with Nintendo. I doubt Sega would care about him being an echo since in most of their games he plays the same as Sonic and SA2's is about Shadow being mistaken for Sonic.

Sure, but I wouldn't be suprised if they made it an issue, since Sonic's playstyle in Smash mostly taken from classic games, where there is no Shadow.

Same can be applied to other guest fighters.

It most likely would. The general gaming populace knows Sora fairly well. Geno's just a fan favorite in Smash circles, but is an otherwise obscure character. And even in Smash circles, Sora still has support.

I don't really care for either, but each would make a ton of people happy, Sora moreso, again, given his general popularity. If it were me, I'd probably be that dude to pick Lara Croft and/or Crono.

The real issue comes from whether or not Disney will allow it. Or if the price is too steep for Nintendo to pay up, costing an arm and a leg.

I wasn't implying that--all I was saying was that *if* Steve was in Smash, that's a bit more detail than people with that information would go into if he was in the game or planned already as DLC, and I had considered the latter a possibility. I've made note of companies that expressed interest in their characters being in Smash (e.g., Microsoft, Capcom, Disney), and I have made the point that is the default position of developers, as every developer wants the money and publicity that comes with a character in Smash. So, I don't disagree with that at all.

Though, apparently I'm being misinterpreted all over tonight, so maybe I need some sleep.

He actually said it, and If I remember, there's literally image that about proofs that Sora might be in Smash and Justin was mentioned on said image because he's part of Disney company (don't remember which or what his position is in Disney but I think it was some advertising related ****). And what if we got Terry Bogard? Is there a specific Fatal Fury game he would be based on most likely, or would he carry elements across multiple games? I've looked at the multitude of idle poses he has in his games.

Probably Fatal Fury Special for the most part. I think that one has the most leg room for extra moves, not that he would need it, outside of Fire Kick being a potential Up-Smash or Forward Smash.

okay so if that Q&A thing was at Minecon it wasn't in the stream, as I just skipped through parts I missed and the dev's Q&A panel had a different background and had different people including Nathan/Dinnerbone who's one of the devs (I don't recall the others as I'm just familiar with jeb_ and Dinerbone from different Minecraft stuff), however that Q&A clip I shared seemed very legit so I don't know whatsoever...

I guess I'll just drop it here; it may mean nothing, I don't even know if the people in that clip would be the ones to talk to Nintendo, though that's funny if Minecon talk was "leaked"

I've already picked this a part to death. We have one source that as far as I know hasn't been corroborated--we don't have first-hand source that Justin said it (e.g., video clip, news article). Rumor does not mean not true, as is common parlance, it simply means the truth has not been corroborated. I consider HMK a trustworthy source, but he's the only source. As far as I know, no other media outlets have picked up on it.

But it doesn't matter--we agree on the substance--I consider the source trustworthy enough to consider it as being truthful. It's semantics at this point.

I know Cloud is the face of Square Enix and I'm not comparing him to Sora but in order to "there are cheaper options" being a legit argument, Sora needs to be really expensive to get the rights off.

Or maybe he'll put one of them because reasons completely unrelated to monetary issues.
