What controller do you guys plan on using to play Ultimate with? GameCube Controller has pretty much been a lock for me since I adapted to it during the days of Melee, but I do see merit in possibly using the Switch Pro Controller on occasion, primarily if the HD Rumble support enhances the overall experience in terms of tactile feedback. Plus, I can't use the GameCube Controller if I end up playing Ultimate in handheld mode at all.

It's not something I saw brought up here, so I apologize if it already has, but I was curious as to how you guys felt about it all the same.

Actually the pathway is just called Hedgehog. Sonic hedgehog is one of the proteins involved.

Pikachurin is another protein named after a video game character.

And the inhibitor to Sonic hedgehog is named after Dr. Robotnik.

Ones I'd imagine are Bowser's Castle, Gangplank Galleon, and Luigi's Mansion.

Metroid would probably have the same stage. (Ridley was iven in the background), same goes for kirby.

I'll then proceed to play everyone else and try to unlock everyone while playing everything, especially going for Ice Climbers and some others which includes the other retros, along with Corrin while very rarely using the male version.

I'd imagine various different ways.

1. Amiibo
2. Playing through Spirits
3. Vs. matches (Say like per 10 matches you unlock a character)
4. Buying at a store along with costumes, music and such
5. Methods as shown in N64 and Melee
6. For some characters just playing on a stage once or beating Classic Mode with certain characters (Such as unlocking Peach by playing on a Mario stage and unlocking Dark Samus by beating Classic Mode with Samus)

Leave the switch on overnight to unlock Mewtwo...and then explain to your parents why you didn't turn the game off.

In order to unlock Mewtwo in Smash Ultimate, you have to spend at least 20 hours of VS. matches with playing as every character other character in the game first.

And after you spend 20 hours playing as Mewtwo himself, that's how you unlock Goku.

My first match will be trying out the new and not exactly improved ices. I've never been one to use infinites but not being able to pull off any grab shenanigans at all is going to be an.... adjustment I'd have to make.

After that I'd try all the new guys that interest me, and after that I'll just go wild.

Maybe Mewtwo can also have the 700 Vs Match method.

An hour or two in Super Sudden Death, 1 stock, double knockback sped up unlocking Mewtwo in Melee. Should be the same for Ultimate.

Of course, the Vs match requirements jumped down a lot from Melee to Brawl and even more from Brawl to Smash 4.

I can see some of these unlock conditions being held over to Smash Ultimate, some might end up impossible (Break the Targets may or may not come back, as with equipment, and we don't know what "Spirits" is yet).

I feel like going through all the characters and making an "Ultimate Unlock List", i.e. 3 unlock conditions from previous games for each character (where possible).

I really wish it’s like a collecting method to unlock characters. I want characters to be given out as rewards like how loot boxes are in other games - though without the negative attachments to them.

So characters like Shadow, Black Shadow, Black Knight, Dixie Kong, Medusa, Octoling, Ken, and Impa all seem to be accepted ideas for Echoes but what are people’s feelings in regards to this list?

I'm pretty sure my start to Smash Ultimate is going to be Yoshi. I don't really care strongly for the original 8 compared to most of the characters who came after, but Yoshi is probably the one of them in 4 I enjoy the most. Good normals, good mobility, and a good projectile gives me a lot to work with to get a feel for the new engine. Mario is a good choice too and is pretty tempting, but most of the others I'm dubious of. Heavies have a sketchy history even though I have historically had fun with them and I really hate DK having two meteors and thus being so much less dynamic in the air than other bigs (though the changes to his down-B, if they persist in the final version, are going to REALLY help DK). I just hate how slow Link is though I think low key the new running mechanics help him more than most (less reason to use that just GARBAGE dash attack he has in 4; f20 they have to be joking). Samus has always sucked and I see no evidence this changes. Kirby is low mobility, low range, weak... just not a fun design to use even if he's tuned to be good, and he's not a good character to bet on being good for that matter. Fox and Pikachu are strong designs that are "investment" characters who are terrible to use unless you put a lot of time into them to get long term results; I respect their value but they're poor starting points especially for a player like me who doesn't find either especially natural to use. I'm going to be exploring everyone, even characters I have zero faith in enjoying like Samus, Ryu, and Wii Fit Trainer, so it doesn't matter too much what order I use them in; this is just my thinking.

Today's update reminds me of what a silly design Lucario really is. A lot of casual observers believe him to be a comeback character, but that's so false. Lucario gets massive power boosts for being at high percent but very small boosts for being down in stocks. This means that in practice, while he's very good at "coming back" from a percent deficit, he's actually more a momentum character (if you're winning, win more; if you're losing, lose harder) because if he loses the first stock instead of his opponent it's a terrible spot. Dropping all his damage by going back to 0% strips out his kill power and will generally let his opponent do a lot of damage before Lucario can finally take the first stock himself, and while a damaged Lucario is of course good at doing more damage quickly, it's just starting in a hole that is pretty easy to have spiral into a defeat. On the other hand, if Lucario gets the first kill and his opponent loses all rage, Lucario just stretches that first stock even longer (remember: heavy character with a good recovery) and a high damage Lucario is hitting VERY hard, often giving him an enormous lead coming out of the first stock. I think more than any other character, Lucario enforces that the winner of stock 1 will win the game, and that's probably why Lucario has more volatile tournament results than any other character.

Luigi and Jigglypuff were my favs. When I was a kid, I was obsessed with Luigi because of this game. Everytime me and my sister pretend played something, I was Luigi no matter what the game was. Even if it was like "Pretend McDonald's Drive-Thru".
