A few other things I want to add.

First, I sincerely hope that over the past few weeks I haven't scared anybody into necessarily being forced to believe Box Theory or any other theory. I also hope that I didn't make anyone feel stupid. It's Smash Bros. Everybody should be having fun with this sort of stuff.

One thing I'd like to mention for everyone to keep in mind, is the order in which this is all occurring. Verg has been spot on since he started leaking Smash Ultimate. He's gotten Simon, Ridley, Snake, Ice Climbers, what have you. To suddenly believe that, because of Music Theory, that Verge is suddenly wrong? That seems like a leap in logic to me, is all.

Now, I'm not going to blame anybody for getting hyped. I'm really hyped for this game myself, and I'm really excited to play it. I also realize it's not my responsibility to keep other people from getting their expectations squashed. However, I simply have reason to believe that fans should be wary of Box theory, not because I think it's the be all end all of Smash leaks, but because of the implications of there being something to it.

If Box Theory is legit and ends up as our base roster, I just get the feeling there's going to be a lot of salt. The other theories seem to suggest that there will be more characters, or characters that we considered as a lost cause prior to today. All I'm saying is, in a completely harmless and not intending to defuse your hype way, to keep these things in mind. Sure, we could wind up with another 20 characters (which I think is already way too much considering the whole, "I hope you aren't expecting too many characters" bit), but the differential between 20 and 2 characters, with one being an echo, is pretty substantial.

That would lead to a lot of salt.

I'm just hoping that in the event of Box theory being real, people don't get upset is all. It's inevitable that people will be upset, and people will be frustrated, and I guess I can't really do much besides encourage people to be careful. I can't force anything on anybody.

At the end of the day, I know a lot of people seem to like my posts considering the average like total I've been getting on comments. The likes are nice, but I do sincerely mean this stuff. I don't want to come across as a **** with this stuff. We should be enjoying discussing this stuff with other fans. Despite me having the feeling that Box theory is more than meets the eye, I won't discourage speculation.

I can only encourage caution. So that's all I'll say!

Everyone should have fun, but remain cautious that we are still not getting much more characters...supposedly.
I am most excited that there is a hiccup in discussion where there can be some poteintial what ifs?

I think everyone knows everyone does not mean to come off mean or whatever when they are showing good intentions to help people with expectations and hype.

Should have just played Sonic Adventure 2 when it came around. Shadow’s game was awful.

My roommate also owns Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, so I've still got the option of playing it if I'm up for it.

Well, Pokemon did get Pokemon Trainer and Pichu back. Maybe the roster for Ultimate is so limited that not even a relevant Pokemon could make it, and Sakurai considers bringing back the cut Pokemon reps as enough for Pokemon in the base roster. Pichu, Ivysaur, and Squirtle are 3 characters built from the ground up without any assets borrowed from Smash 4, after all (bar Pichu with most of Pikachu's moveset).

Hopefully, this can lead to a Pokemon DLC that would be a character more overall liked than Inceneroar (since his popularity is a bit divided in the community). It may not be apparent since people generally like the starters, but Pokemon hasn't had a purely popular character addition since Melee's Mewtwo, with PT added for the 10th anniversary of Red & Blue and Greninja added for Gen 6's relevancy.

Ya know I was thinking about that myself.

What if we get a Smash Ballot that focuses on Pokemon? We vote to see which Pokemon gets added as DLC.
Probably not gonna happen, but something to think about.

Verg has said a very cut and dry thing, so when he logs onto Gamefaqs(for whatever reason) and sees **** like:


"VERG SAID X ON 4CHAN!"

"VERG MESSAGED ME PRIVATELY"

He has to clean up the mess.

I don’t know how it would hold up these days. It’s been so long since I played it. It had the best controls for a 3D Sonic and felt more natural than all others after it. But still, that was 10-12 year old me.

People are harassing and insulting him for weeks at a time. That would get on anyone’s nerves. I’d start snapping at people after a week, especially when my leaks have come true.Turning off the computer is such crap advice as the **** is still there. The only way for Verge to get away from that toxicity is to stick to leaking to a Reddit or something. We all know GameFAQs will still look at his leaks. He just won’t have to see their insults.

Shantae is a terrible indie pick and her games hardly have any precense today. Sans and Steve would make much better indie picks as people actually know who they are compared to some niche genie. No one cares who she is or her games, and people only rally for her over WayForward’s silence, which means nothing.

So if somebody happens to leak things, you are in control of what you do. If you decide to get mad and harass someone, you made the choice to do that in response to something someone else did.

Not to make this more intense, but it's like saying a woman was "asking to get ***** or assaulted" because of what she wears in public, how she walked, or how she talks to someone.

What's more reasonable...that somebody should be able to do something without being harassed or assaulted by those around them? or that we would blame the victim in a given situation because they were asking for it?

I realize gaming or video game leaks are not even close to the same thing as ****, but the idea of this victim blaming is quite similar and ridiculous. Regardless of whether you like a person or not, that does not mean it validates any sort of harassment toward that person/those people.

Agreed. I can probably ignore this in the end, but that won't stop me from calling it out. Not only was that wrong, that was uneducated, for a lack of a better word, for him to do to begin with. That behavior was just not right. There is always more to autistic people than meets the eye.

Well, those people aren't acting any better than Verge, but let's be honest, with the type of mentality those guys at GameFAQs have, it was inevitable. Probably inevitable anyway even without that mentality.

I would never harass anyone for any reason, but I would call out such bad behavior if I wanted to, just probably not directly to people like Verge.

Harassment shouldn't be seen as on the same level as a legitimate occupational hazard. If you can't, you know, choose not to harass people, you are in the wrong, and probably a whiny manchild. And those choosing to blame the victim are no better.
