Oh I know about that. I was just talking about the Mario Circuit song that play near the Wreck It Ralph part of the Disney Park for his new movie.

Meaning they were in talk with Disney recently.

Hopefully they did like Sega and Willing to lend Music/Mario/Bowser(again for him) in exchange of a playable Characters since it would chronologically fit around the time the movie went into actual production with Sakurai finishing the Design plan.

I'd argue he's more than possible for base roster though. Kingdom Hearts was as popular then as it is today. It's always been a pretty popular series, and Sora likely did well on the ballot because as I said before, the entire Kingdom Hearts community rallied around him for Smash. And by "community," I mean the entire Kingdom Hearts subreddit, fan forums, youtubers with over 10,000 subscribers making videos and tweeting telling their viewers to vote for Sora, Smash fans who just like Sora, and casual players of both games. I wouldn't be surprised if Sora ranked top 25 worldwide, if not top 15, or even top 10 in the ballot. People have wanted Sora as early as in Brawl, as evidenced by his showing up on Sakurai's Brawl Poll. Pre and Post-Sm4sh people asked for him, and people are still asking for him. Heck, there's currently a post on the Kingdom Hearts reddit with 1300 upvotes about Sora being in Smash (link here).

Could always have just had Red as Charizard's trainer, Blue as Greninja's trainer, and Leaf trainer of a fully evolved Grass starters.

Yeah, it's possible, but with the Disney of Japan staff member implying that Sora was not negotiated for the base game and the team focusing efforts on the development of KH3 with the Sora HMK video, I kinda doubt it. It could be just PR talk, but I doubt it. That is why I am betting on him as DLC.

Well if Ken's in I hope his air fireballs are shot at an angle, like the MVC games had with him.

Not a major thing, but something that would make sense to separate the two a bit more. The only other thing that'd need a major change to "feel" like Ken would be to replace the Focus Attack Punch that Ryu does with the Roundhouse Kick version that Ken does.

Let's not forget Inkling. Yeah they were obvious picks, but their reveal was still a delightful surprise because we didn't even know if there was going to be a new Smash at the time.

Nintendo’s way in promoting the Inklings and Splatoonnas a whole as one of their top game series = Traumatize the main two Inklings by making them go face 2 face with a giant *** flaming Smash Bros logo in total darkness...I feel bad for them sometimes
