I need to accept the probability that I am going to be disappointed with the Pokemon representation in smash, yet again.
I'd love to think differently, that Sakurai is looking at the big picture of each series as he has stated he has done with FE, shown he has done in Metroid... and then ignored all mechanics of Pokemon to make unique fighters that are great, but represent nothing more as a collective than they do individually.

What would be your ideal form of representation? The speculation around Pokemon newcomers for Ultimate has always confused me, but I'm much more familiar with Gen 1 and 2 to make any definitive statements.

How can literally anyone be disappointed by the Pokemon representation in Smash? It has the most playable characters, with only one of them sharing their moveset with another and its own version of ATs that makes it have the most summonable characters out of all series.
I may complain about the lack of Gen 3 and 5 Pokemon(and a proper Gen 2 Mon) but I just can't see how it's disapoointing at all.

Because I don't care for any of the ones they've put in.

Would just like to inform everyone that with 4chan, there is no way to tell whether that poster is even the same one as the original Ken leaker, no matter what they claim. The only way to tell would be if they used a tripcode, which they did not, so don't take this new post to discredit the other, as they're likely to just be two completely different people (with the second probably trying to defame the first).

Canonically, I think his default name is "Jack." Waaay back in 2003, I sent Nintendo of America a (then) massive character wishlist of like a 60 character cast for Smash and my three third party picks were him, Geno, and Megaman.

Actually, Jack is a fan name that became so pervasive that it's often mistaken for the real thing. Per a couple of games, his actual default name is Pete. No one really uses it, though.
Not to mention that if we did get the Farmer, his name probably wouldn't be Pete given that the Bokujō Monogatari series is localized by Xseed Games under the brand of Story of Seasons now, while Natsume did localization in the past under the Harvest Moon title (Natsume now develops their own games using the Harvest Moon title, adding to the confusion). In the first game under the Story of Seasons name, there were a couple of returning characters, and XSeed's localization team decided against Natsume's old localized names for them, so the same would likely apply to Pete. So who knows, maybe if we ever did see the original farmer again, Xseed would go ahead and make the fan name official.
Jack/Pete was actually one of my preferred newcomer choices back in the Brawl days, as I rather enjoyed the series. Don't really actively support nowadays, especially since the Villager kind of filled a similar role, but I would still be down to see him.

HOWEVER, Moray Towers still is covered in ink the whole time during any battle. The leak pic doesn't have Ink on it, pointing to me that it still is likely real because how can they remove the ink from moray towers when it's a stage asset? This ink is different from the inkling ink. Watch any video of the level.

It comes down to who the Pokémon are, you can't satisfy everyone. And as someone who's favorite type is Grass and least favorite Pokémon is Charizard, I'm slightly disappointed.

They were late additions *because* they were low priority.
Conceived from the beginning? Sure. First to have been cut if time did not allow it? Absolutely.
That is exactly to what was being discussed in the post you quoted- characters who make it in before others make it in.
Or ones that steal spots away, such as in this case, one character being higher priority than the other.

That's not what "late additions" means, they were there since the very beginning, they were just liable to get cut if development necessitated it.

This is from an earlier build on Pikachu's portrait. Her/his ears clearly extend past the square but the ear gets cut off just like Pichu.

Okay ignoring Pichus portrait and any arguments for or against it, I'm inclined to think the leak is real because Moray towers doesn't have any ink on it in the leak pic, indicating some sort of early build or debug, when the actual game has ink all over the level. How can someone remove that? It's part of the stage now.

The only thing I find weird about the all the recent stuff regarding leaks is that one thing about the Square Enix rep and how "they can't say it, jobs are on the line". Oh, so previous leaks didn't put jobs on the line, but this one, WOAH NELLY! It sure will!

Is it THAT huge of a deal for them to not leak it at all when they're trying to leak everything else? The second Square Enix rep thing is just confusing, man.

The Ken image leak looks very real and I'm convinced. But that text leak looks like a lot of characters and I just don't see it happening.

How sure are we the text leak comes from the same guy?

Basically. Imagine that the Square-Enix rep is probably top priority and a VERY big things to not get revealed. Maybe only a tiny team work on it on purpose.

7 characters is certainly pushing it, but we still could get more characters than we'd expect. If we're only getting 2 more characters like some suspect, it's a weird pacing choice to reveal all returning veterans and 7 characters within 3 months, and only 3 characters in the 3 months after that. It's not impossible, and there is some precedent with later leaks being anticlimatic, it's nonetheless weird choice either way.

I was pointing to the fact that the leaks, as well as some real screenshots of previous builds, as well as other rumors/theories/leaks have patterns that make no sense share that in common, not commenting on the likelihood of the "leaks" themselves.
