But now look how far Ridley's head goes out of the portrait box in the Dark Samus + Chrom matchup. Wouldn't it make sense to still have Pichu's ear be intact if Ridley's head goes THAT far off?

If we were never meant to see this, it could have been something done quickly as a placeholder, Pichu is the only character there not in the demo and the only character that isn't cut off properly.

The weirdest thing about this leak to me is the choice of Stanley. It feels like someone picking a retro rep for the sake of picking one and not realizing why Sakurai chooses who he does, to represent an era/part of retro gaming. Duck Hunt, G&W, ROB, they all fit into this.

Representing the classic Donkey Kong is more than enough reason- that game series is an anomaly in missing Nintendo history, and it *should* be corrected. (With DK jr)

the stanley leak gives me sleepless nights.

It's fake but, where would stanley go hypothetically? He's not in a game with mario in it, so it would be weird to call him a mario series characte, but DK in smash is less DK and more DKC, would he be DK still? I mean I guess, but is Donkey Kong 3 part of New Donk, which is may or may not possibly be Big Ape City? The Donkey Kong lore goes too hard man.

Yeah in the E3 build pacman's arm doesn't extend over.
I think this is an older build, possibly pre-E3.

Now this is just confusing me heh.

Is the characters having an arm and/or ear popping out of the rhombus they're in part of the early build and the ones where they're cut off the later/closer to final build or is it the vice versa?

I might be understanding your post wrong, but it sounds to me like you have the two mixed up. The one with Ridley's head sticking out is from E3, the one where they hid it is from the new Chrom/Dark Samus build.

Assuming this leak is from the latest build then yeah they'd match Pichu and Pac-Man to not go out of their picture, just like they did with Ridley.

I’d love to see Stanley make it in, the only obstacle I see for him is G&W’s jab attack and if he’s considered a DK newcomer which could set off Dixie fans if she’s not in.

A part of me wanted Duck Hunt Dog to get in and I got him so I’m hoping for Stanley as well!

I think knowing Ken is in already is what makes everyone so impartial to the whole thing. If it's real? Cool. If it's fake? Doesn't change a thing.
Usually, other leaks have set Team Fakes/Reals due to personal bias

If Steve is in, I bet they'll use the official Minecraft art design and not his ingame skin. They may also make his limbs move in more directions while still being stiff, like the old Classic / early Alpha animations where the character flails their arms around, or the new swimming animation in the game's "Update Aquatic."

Now we just need a Steve leak to see if this would be the case or not.

Just had an epiphany on the toilet, where all good thoughts grow.

I want the Farmer from Harvest Moon to be playable. He has plenty of farming tools for smashes and aerials, could plant different kinds of crop that have different effects, and could use farm animals or other sillyness for recovery.

Yes, it would throw the box theory on the trash which is exactly why I believe Ken is an Echo.

The fact that we can see debug tools and the clock is frozen at exactly 2:30 tells me they froze the gameplay timer for testing purposes, which might explain this.
