Based off Pichu's icon, it looks like it. Although, I suppose there's always the chance that small things like this got changed through development, as unlikely as that may seem.
Oh. I thought Sakurai said he wanted to put either one of those characters in 64 or something.

Honestly? It looks better when the character art doesn't end up higher than the highest point of the box. If what we're looking at is in fact real, it's a very reasonable change to make.

Ah, well you could replace Vault Boy with Stanley and it's the same level of skepticism. Though, I like this roster much better, and it's more realistic. The reason I was confused is both said they'd come back with more evidence, but here is saying video. I'd love to see video of Stanley the Bugman. I could die happy.
We have only seen instances of different renders being swapped out, and even then they still had the same proportions. I would like to see evidence of these portrait proportions changing mid-development. Why would Pac-Man's hand and Pichu's ear be cut off this far in development when we have clearly seen evidence of these portraits done way earlier?Yeah! Just like the ESRB leak with "disablad"! And Wario missing a pupil! And G&W's hand clipping into Wario's portrait!
Stuff like this happens all the time, it could just as easily have been changed during development or even be an error.

The weirdest thing about this leak to me is the choice of Stanley. It feels like someone picking a retro rep for the sake of picking one and not realizing why Sakurai chooses who he does, to represent an era/part of retro gaming. Duck Hunt, G&W, ROB, they all fit into this.

Because the ear goes way over the portrait, which is a little inconsistent with other character portraits? cutting it off brings it more in line.
I'd say "high expectations for this crowd," but in reality, I think that is too much to ask of any general population.
Like I said, MasterLuigi's post clearly shows Ridley's icon render changing from E3 to the waaay later build that we got gameplay of Chrom and Dark Samus off of.
In all honesty the only reason why I care about this is if its real, the person might have more. I want this drought to end already.
That's a bit of a bleak outlook. I think the posters here are mainly high school or younger, so they are very impressionable, and fast to dismiss logic. I tend to have a little more belief in humanity than that. They will learn when they're older, or forever struggle in life.

I mean, I'm very happy it's SF2 Ken. And that he's in.
But now look how far Ridley's head goes out of the portrait box in the Dark Samus + Chrom matchup. Wouldn't it make sense to still have Pichu's ear be intact if Ridley's head goes THAT far off?
There needs to be a third option for Team Don't Actually Care Because We Pretty Much Know He's In Anyway. Kinda a mouthful though.

All of those leaks are just floating in time without any supposed proof coming out until the game drops, and this one at least said it would drop a video
