Official Smash Ultimate Discussion

Almost one month has passed since release. In retrospect....

  • This is by far the best Smash ever. Like, I don't even know how they will top this.

  • Pretty freakin' good; I have a few qualms over things like internet play, balancing issues, etc.

  • It's ok, but [insert Smash game here] is better.

  • I'd rather play Parcheesi.

Mute City.

Because why would the 3DS stage under the same name be given a rename to "Mute City SNES" if there wasn't another "Mute City" present?
It's possible, but why hold back a returning stage unless you're planning to tie it to a newcomer? Especially after having a huge segment in the Direct dedicated to showing off all the old stages and how they tried their best to bring most of them back. It sounded really definitive, to me at least.

Though it'd be funny if an F-Zero newcomer of all things is the one thing to break some of these theories.

EDIT: Now that I think about, it could also be a preemptive measure for future DLC. As 4 had returning stage DLC that weren't tied to characters. So it even if Mute City ain't on the base game it could very well show up in the future. But I guess that's irrelevant to this as it doesn't pertain to the 108 stage list.

I might as well put my thoughts about the cursed cube and CoroCoro here:
After denying the box theory for so long, I'm beginning to accept the fact that it might be real and Coro Coro might've been a mistake. lt's beginning to make a lot of sense, as much as I want to believe it means nothing. It's encouraging to see Coro Coro still hasn't apologized for the potential 108 stage mess up, but I feel it could be coming any day now. An 8 and a 3 do look very similar, and while I want to believe it'd be impossible for Coro Coro to make that error, I can't know for sure.
I still don't believe the box theory however. There's still a lot going against it such as the newcomer reveals' spacing. Believing it now would be giving up, and I don't want to do that.

My thought is, if they were going to reveal other returning stages, they probably would have done so before revealing Fountain of Dreams. This is all guesswork--but I think when planning out the stages, they may have renamed all of them for when they may potentially be included, and then decided on which stages to be included, some not making the cut. No evidence, it just makes sense with what we know. It's possible they're saving some, but it'd be weird of them to do that.

EDIT: And I would really love Pac-Maze back, I feel like that's a legitimately disappointing stage that's not returning, for me personally.

How do you think Smashboards will react when (or "if" if you prefer) we find out that there really are only 103 stages in Smash Bros. Ultimate, and the Corocoro "leak" was a typo/misprint?
The fact that we can apply "only" to having one hundred three total stages is kind of indicative of how insatiable the Smash community is.

I'm still going to predict a Smash Direct for October.

It just feels right to space out the Directs two months apart until release going:

June > August > October > Release

That, and, won't Nintendo's priority in November to market Let's Go to hell and back to make it the big Black Friday seller alongside the Smash Switch? Feels a bit odd to overshadow your Black Friday game with Smash.

.......that and October's gonna be hella lame unless we get one. Like... we're still getting stuff from 8.8.

Besides "THEORIES", we're out of **** to discuss.

I agree, October makes sense for a variety of reasons. Of course, we have no idea what's in the full game, other than a secret mode--there could be a lot more content than we think, or less. And depending on that will be how they decide to spread it out.

In lulls like this, or when I get sad, disappointed, angry I like to look at my wallpaper and reflect how amazing and beautiful this game is. No matter how much I may playfully gripe, like after E3, the game could end here and I'd be happy.

As much as I want to make/have a wallpaper like this, my OCD dictates that I can't until they're done revealing characters for the base roster.

.....So a Direct in October would be a bonus for me.

Arcade: Ken Masters, Frogger (lol)
NES: :ultridley:, :ultsimon:
SNES: :ultkrool:, :ultrichter:
N64: :ultdaisy:, Banjo and Kazooie

GBA: Isaac, (Sora, FF character I dunno maybe Andy from advance wars)
Gamecube: :ultdarksamus:, Lloyd Irving
3DS: :ultchrom:, Isabelle
Wii U: :ultinkling:, Incineroar

Hard to choose characters from the generations, we're also missing DS, Wii and Gameboy ( and colour).
Daisy debuted in the Gameboy, so you can cross that one out

Especially since what we saw recently was an Nintendo Direct. Agreed, I do see October being the month for the Smash Direct especially since there will be an event or such on Black Friday in November for Pokemon Go! or such. Doubt they'd feature two Nintendo related stuff on the same month.

If rumors are also true. It'll be October 8th or 10th.

What would a Dragon Quest stage exaclty be?
A recurring motif found across the Dragon Quest games is a floating castle in the clouds. DQIII has the Cloudgate Citadel, DQ IV-VI have Zenithia, DQ IX has the Celestrian Observatory. Maybe not the most unique aesthetic given some of Zelda and Kid Icarus stages, but it's still cool.

That wallpaper looks fantastic. Did you make it yourself or do you have a source for it CosmicQuark CosmicQuark ?
Thanks :) I make it myself using the character art from the website, the "everyone is here" artwork when someone posts it on Reddit. Have to change it every time there's a reveal, though Isabelle's one inclusion did make it much neater than it was previously, though it also makes every reveal special, in a way, adding them in each time.

My guess is November 7th.

It's on a Wednesday, a typical Direct day and not a release day for any other game, and exactly one month before Smash's release. It's also a week and a half before Let's Go! releases, which is more than enough time to keep Smash news from overshadowing its release while also remaining close enough to Smash's release to not be considered old news too quickly.

Plus, assuming we're getting a Pokemon newcomer of any variety, that character being revealed can only benefit Pokemon Let's Go! hype.

Two questions

Was there something I missed in the last 12 hours or so

And does anyone know if Aerodactyl charizard palette is still somewhere in pokemon trainers palettes?
