what fighting game cliches are we missing from smash?

We have the "Ryu": Ryu (duh), Mario
Hot femme fatale: Bayonetta, ZSS
Cute grill who uses weird weapons: Peach, Daisy
Pretty Boy: Link, Marth, Corrin, etc.
Edgy looking Guy: Dark Pit
Giant Weapon Guy: Cloud
Animal: Charizard, Ridley, Bowser, etc.
Puppet Character: Rosalina
Fat Guy: Wario, King Dedede
Joke Character: Duck Hunt, Mr GW, Wii Fit Trainer, etc.

Edit: Clones are, "The Ken", especially since Luigi was the original Smash Ken
Also Ninja: Sheik and Greninja

We don't have an "old man kung fu master" type guy or a wrestler yet. No Bruce Lee clone yet either lol, Hitmonlee confirmed!1

You shouldn't look at it as a "Nintendo contract" deal. More like a "Sakurai want X right now" Deal.
Like for Cloud, Sakurai asked Cloud and no one else, to the point that even Square themselves were surprised- So who knows what surprise he can have for us.

I'm definitely still gonna look at it like that because a collab with Microsoft in SMASH BROS is quite frankly groundbreaking.
None of the 3rd parties in Smash Bros are actually competitors to Nintendo. They have 2 genuine competitors, because there are 2 other major console manufacturers, and that's Microsoft and Sony.

It'd be a lot more than Sakurai asking for X.

He made things un-neat and messy. This implies to me Sakurai will value adding characters over a neat CSS.

Gardevoir's a weird case. It's Japanese name is Sirknight or something like that, so it may be unintentional. Lucario is just cool though. When I was younger, Lucario was one of my favorites, and though he isn't in any reasonable top Pokemon list I can make, he's still pretty cool.

I totally got swept up in Lucario marketing as a kid myself. That 'mon was everywhere and I totally ate it up. Brawl was actually a huge part of that, actually. I didn't know he was in the game until I unlocked him, so he was kind of the "Melee Mewtwo" experience that blew my childhood self's mind. He was the only character I played as much as Pokemon Trainer.

...And I hope you're right about Gardevoir.

My point is that I don't feel Sakurai would sacrifice extra characters for a neat CSS and I stand by it. Where does the document come into play?

Steve being in would actually explain why Isabelle isn't a builder character despite the potential she had there with the Public Works projects being a major part of her New Leaf role.

If Steve isn't in, there's always the builder from Dragon Quest Builders to fill up that void.

Well, Sonic has always gotten more requests for a newcomer than the other third-parties. If Castlevania can automatically get two characters upon reveal, I don't see why Sonic couldn't get a unique newcomer and an Echo.

It's probably not happening, but still.
