We don't know that yet tbh. Just because Skull Kid or Isaac (Rathalos pic) weren't revealed next doesn't mean they are automatically out of the equation, and I personally don't pay attention to the box thing.
I will defend myself here and say out of everything that people have analyzed, this is kind of the most blatant thing I've seen. This feels like it's a hint and I'd be surprised if we don't get Black Shadow in the base roster.
You know the best part is Ken's not even a natural blonde. He dyes his hair to differentiate himelf from Ryu.
Excuse you, he's not "Blond Ryu". He's American Ryu, get it right.
tbh Ultimate has a lot to live up to, we're talking about DLC. Cloud, Ryu and Bayonetta were absolutely insane; at this point, we might as well go all out and do Sora lmao
I would expect at least one popular JRPG character to show up. Hoping for Chrono Trigger and/or Dragon Quest rep.

You know what, let's talk about this picture for a second everybody, because I'm positive that absolutely everybody had missed it.
You know how people say that the Rathalos picture was a hint for Issac because of the framing and placement and all of that? I have yet to hear anybody at all talk about the (possible) Blatant hint in this picture. Now, there are two possible ways to interpret this hint.
Version 1 (most likely): The machines shown have an oddly specific number choice. If you add these two numbers together you would get the number 30. 30 is also the number for the most popular F-Zero request, Black Shadow. I would also note that this stage is a F-Zero X stage, which is also the game in which Black Shadow first appeared in. The position of the machines under the Falcon Flyer may also suggest that Black Shadow may be an echo or that it's a more obvious hint (it's literally under a shadow).
Version 2 (Conspiracy Mode): The machines numbers are still important... but in a weirder way. If you add 1 to 29 you'd get 30, Black Shadow's number. But if you did the opposite (subtract 29 from 1) or subtract 1 from 1, you'd get 0 or a negative number. This may be a possible hint that Deathborn may be a character himself, as his number is N/A (He didn't join the F-Zero Prix so he has no official number) and also referred as 0. Also notice the shadow again. While the falcon flier casts a shadow onto Crazy Bear (machine number 29), it doesn't cast one on Red Gazelle (number 01). The positioning of the cars may also be indicative of this, as Deathborn (in the games cannon and on his Wii U Trophy) is known to control Black Shadow, which is why he's in front of Crazy Bear. The pilot of Red Gazelle, Might Gazelle, may also share some traits with Deathborn as both are cyborgs.

Change Daisy's neutral B into a bat reflector. Holding B has her hold the bat ready, then letting go has her swing with full force. Also change turnips to carrots.

On the other he he hadn't been added in melee, he would probably be absurdly popular request for brawl. And I mean only behind Sonic (and possibly Wario) levels of popular. And skipping him in brawl would been really weird seeing that two of his games have stages there.
I just personally feel like Sakurai wouldn't have introduced the "Echo fighter" concept if he didn't have a bunch prepared, and honestly they'd make up for the small amount of true unique newcomers, so I kinda feel we still have a few echoes left. Not to mention they're supposed to take little time and effort to make in comparison. I'm still not counting out Shadow, Black Shadow, Dixie, Impa, etc.

Yeah. I honestly think his chances would've been really good, but there's still the question of if Sakurai could see his moveset working well without being a clone. There's no real way to tell at this point. I'm sure he would've been more unique, at least.
This was something I feared and honestly glad I haven't seen people harp on. The whole point of the furniture hinting was that it was for the next reveal, otherwise you can just point to any reveal and any furniture in a direct. That's not hinting anymore. The furniture theory fell apart as soon as Skull Kid wasn't the next reveal.
I don't see how that's blatant, that was a lot of explaining you had to do in your post to get to it...
I mean if I could only change one move and not make any edits to any existing ones, like giving Dark Pit or Daisy one of the custom moves or whatever.

Right there with you on that last bit. Great Lord Chrom probably isn't too likely but man do I want it. Exalt Chrom from FE Cipher would also be acceptable.
That's another reason why some people (including myself) believe Black Shadow may be in as Falcon's echo fighter and be more akin to "old" Ganondorf. After all even Sakurai himself said he is always hesitant to drastically change movesets because he knows people are used to them.
Despite how bad Puff is in 4, I had tons of fun playing the character
