It's a special. In her gameplay video, you can see her use Villager's butterfly net grab.

Hey all, sorry for the SUPER-DELUXE-ENHANCED delayed response to the Direct and recent announcements, but I figured I'd get it out of the way before Torna: The Golden Country eats my life in a few hours.

Isabelle CONFIRMED as a UNIQUE FIGHTER for Smash Ultimate

Isabelle, unlike many other characters that'd be a "shoe-in", was a shoe-in. And honestly, given how BIG Animal Crossing is, it'd make sense for her to be a completely different fighter than an echo fighter. I'm totally alright with her being in Smash and it's really only good things from here. THAT FISHING POLE MOVE IS INSANE, THO. So at the end of the day, any y'all complaining about Isabelle being in and "wasting a slot" probably should go back to drinking your sippy cups.
I wanted Geno, but this was alright as it was laid out, such as...

2019. Very. ****ing. Nice. At this point, the Switch's third year is INSANE. My thoughts on the Direct, overall, was a pretty alright Direct, even had some bombshells here and there. Definitely not as bad as some people make it out to be.

It looks like a really slow command grab special to me. I don't fully understand the move other than that it looks bad; I'm hoping there's some useful layer to it that they just did a really poor job of conveying in the direct.

Not really, was there any reasoning behind people thinking he was likely besides Loz and chairs?

There’s also the fact that the Termina Moon is now an Assist while SK himself is nowhere to be found. I and several others find it odd that they would either have Skull Kid continue to do his weird, made up shtick from Smash 4 whole the falling Moon (his most iconic ability) would be a completely different thing, or they’d cut one of the most recognizable Zelda NPCs for no reason.

I still feel that Skull Kid is likely, personally. I never trusted LoZ and I always thought the chairs were dumb, but I think he’s got more going for him than that.

Crafted World looks really good. I may get it.

Also Katamari and Cities: Skylines are really underrated gems from the direct too.

I literally bought cities: Skylines yesterday on steam, so bad timing for me. Civ looks fun on Switch, but I really hope all the expansion packs come with it eventually.

I know the direct was disappointing for some, but the switch is bring some classics I never got to play since I'm mainly was a Nintendo console kid. I can't wait to play Katamari and Final Fantasy games.

Zinith can thank his lucky stars Yoshi's Crafted World looks just as fun as Woolly World.

Hopefully all this attention bodes well for some actually fair representation for his series in Ultimate.

Crafted World looks sick. That will absolutely be a day 1 game for me. Wooly World was my favorite Wii U game, so I'm expecting big things out of Crafted World.

- The moon AT took over SK's MM represenation
- A new item does Skull Kid's AT move

- MM has new remixed music
- Isabelle is in the game, as unique character at that, which means that AT's are still being promoted to fighters like Little Mac was. Additionally Isabelle has an AT replacement, just like the Moon replaces Skull kid (similarly, how Knuckles may be replacing Shadow)

Agreed. If anything it'd make more sense to have someone like Lara Croft. He's a lot more iconic then being probably the most famous female video game protagonist.

Dante "rumor" was a complete lucky guess. Anyone can guess a character and be lucky. Posting a rumor with it doesn't make it any less credible. Yes, we can't ignore it. But don't take it as gospel.

He also predicted DMCV stuff. He is either way too lucky or he has info.

Guys, the Dante thing isn't just because of the leak that said no Geno or Skull Kid. Its biggest support is the fact that a leaker who got MULTIPLE things about DMC V right also said that Dante would be in Smash.

Reminder that this new guy could easily just be piggybacking off of that original leaker, we can't know for sure. But I do think both should be looked at.

Im ok with Isabelle because she is a good "hype cooler" and a reality check for everyone who was thinking that they are only adding ballot characters and fan requests. But yeah, these kind of things are only easy say just because the character that I was rooting for is already confirmed .
Anyways, now thats Verg's leak is even more confirmed than ever. I gotta thank him that at least he didn't say exactly who is the Square rep or the 7th gen Pokemon, leaving some room for speculation and imagination.

BluePikmin11 Not gonna lie, when they pulled up Tom Nook at the very end, I thought he was going to be revealed as an 'Echo' clone. I was thinking "Holy ****, Blue was right the whole damn time!". Turned out not to be the case, but let's just say your push for both Tom Nook and Isabelle prior to E3 made a lasting impression on me, ha.

My heart-rate jumped so high when I saw that Tom Nook transition. I was thinking, "This is the same graphics as the Isabelle's trailer, Tom Nook confirmed?!?!".

Then Tom started talking about Smashing and I was about to explode screaming...

Then that smooth transition to announcing the new Animal Crossing Switch.

I gonna be honest, I was pretty upset and my heart sank.

I am still glad to have Isabelle as a semi-clone. I am definitely maining her over Villager.

Sakurai better add Tom Nook eventually in a future Smash game. He and Dixie are the only true Nintendo all-stars left IMO.

You know, that screenshot of Isabelle using the stop sign I think has convinced me of what it is. It's her up smash! You see the little spark for releasing a smash there. Assuming the whole sign is a hitbox and it's reasonably powerful, it could definitely be one of her better moves. It reminds me a lot of Palutena's usmash, and while comparing moves to Palutena moves would usually be a way to say the moves suck, usmash was one of Palutena's few truly good moves so that could be really nice especially if she's a more "pesky" character since a high power huge anti-air could come out in a lot of smart read situations on someone with those kinds of dynamics.

If there's something the stop sign reminds me of, it's Pak E. Derm. Yes, that elephant in Yoshi's Story that blocks your path.

To think that Isabelle of all people would turn out to be one of Yoshi's greatest threats here.

If you're basing this of off VeggieTales, you can't have Decidueye. Larry said no Lycanroc, Decidueye, or Mimikyu.

That's why I called it compromise. I'm not sold that he actually knows the Pokemon newcomer, way to vague on it compared to Simon and Isabelle.

So yeah I took liberties and used who I'd rather see. I personally think Incinearoar is more likely, but I also personally think Ken has no chance as a unique character/semi-clone so maybe I'm totally wrong?

I will be honest, at first I did not really care that Isabelle made it in Smash as a playable character, but as time goes on and I see how excited people on various social media pages are for the characters inclusion, I am starting to be glad she made it in too. Basically the same effect the KRool trailer had, except I actually did not want KRool, and now I am glad for his fans at least.

I dont really have any opinions on these leakers validity. Characters like Skull Kid I dont expect, but am happy to be surprised again. 68 characters is already more then I could have guessed for this game.

Ridley is still in the game, so I am good with virtually any newcomer at the moment.

July was a little bit dry but and early double character reveal in August made up for it.

Have there been "Isabelle was a safe guess!!!1!!" comments yet, decrying Vergeben's credibility? Because if so, they should stop and think maybe the reason why Ridley, Snake, Simon, and Isabelle all seemed like safe picks anyone could've gotten lucky and guessed is because Vergeben's leak of them planted that seed in your head, and after the reveals it felt like they always were safe bets when in reality, none of them were at all. Hindsight indeed is 20/20.

- Young Link may have a final smash related to Majora's Mask, aka the Fierce Deity Mask. We don't know. Its a guess.
