So, besides just having the Nintendo characters, what do you guys thinks makes Smash so special? I've been trying to play games like Icons (great controls and mechanics, but just no life in it) and Slap City (I do not understand why anyone over 15 thinks it's a good game tbh), and nothing ever clicks like Smash. Is it the controls? Is it the mechanics themselves? Several games copied it almost exactly regarding mechanics, and none of them feel nearly as fluid or fair as Smash does.
I can't wait for December, I'm sick of playing Steam Substitutes lol

Ironically, I personally feel more comfortable playing games like SSF2 and Slap City on a keyboard over playing Smash 4 with a GameCube controller; it feels a lot more precise to me and, compared to something like playing Brawl on Dolphin, those games are designed to work decently with a keyboard. Slap City’s controls clicked for me almost immediately, although the dash dances are a bit awkward as the characters don’t really have an initial dash that has that little bit of oomph in it. (On the other hand, RoA’s controls don’t feel right to me at all.) My opinion might change once I try Ultimate, though.

I guess that’s kind of what’s great about the fact that there are indie and fangame alternatives available; everyone has different tastes in how they feel Smash should play, and so at least one of the official or indie games or fan games should be to their liking.

Cool! It's awesome to see more fans of this series! So, what are your favorites? Mine's IV. I loved everything about that game, from it's atmosphere, to is gameplay (minus the map), to it's godlike music.

Nocturne's my favorite. The setting is incredible (you're inside a sphere made up of the entirety of Tokyo) and since your only "equipment" is Magatama everything is easier to organize while still being as hard and relentless as the rest of the series. I also like that they ditched the Law / Neutral / Chaos dichotomy for once.

I like the simplicity of SMT1's story however, and SMT2's story is still my favorite.

It's worth noting that I haven't played Strange Journey and the two SMT4 games yet.

I often listen to Age of Wonders music when browsing. Really helps me relax.

Neat. I usually listen to a lot of video game music.
This past week I've listened to songs from these two soundtracks:

Sometimes I'll listen to some synthwave now and then.

Nocturne's my favorite. How would you all react if we got Tetra in the game as a Tink Echo? She could wield her cutlass, she used a bow in HW and they could just take the shield off her.

And seeing a pirate using bombs wouldn't be that weird.

I'd love having Tetra in the game echo or no echo, however I wouldn't mind a new moveset for Tetra either though, maybe instead of a bow she uses her flintlock pistol, and fires those water bullets like in HW, but you can either shoot them rapidly, or charge up the attack.
