Speaking of Ridley. I really didn't find him to be anything so special. Haven't played as him all that much but he felt like Charizard 2.0 in many regards, especially the overall kind of moves he has, the similar body types, similar aerial mobility with him being a heavyweight with multiple jumps.

Of the two new characters in the demo, Inkling was definitely my favorite pick.


Just once! She didn't feel that much different from before but being able to charge the neutral special in mid-air was long overdue.


Don't quote me on this, but I think you can do Ridleycides in mid-air just like Ganon. I didn't try this out, though.

Yeah don't get me wrong, Ridley has a cool design and I'm happy for his fans but I was never really that hyped when he got announced since I've only played one Metroid game. Inkling definitely looks more fun to play casually.

To be honest...Etika may probably not be a Nintendo fan.

No offense, but I keep hearing rumors that Etika is actually not a Nintendo fan, nor does he knows the characters. Rumor has it he gets paid to do reaction videos.

False. He loves Nintendo, he loves Sakurai, Smash, Xenoblade, Fire Emblem (he especifically loves Corrin), Bayonetta, etc. He just overreacts a lot.

And his overreactions (plus secret love for Minecraft) is one of the reasons why people love him

I don't need him playable, but give me a cameo.

I only know him from his reaction videos and that clickbait Ridley one he made. I dont really watch the guy

What drama does he have? He always seemed like a drama free guy to me.

Drama involving other Youtubers ****ing with his friends (and then they get eviscerated), but none actually about him specifically

He cried playing XB2. So I dunno.

And cried when he got Tharja killed

I like Etika but his reactions are way to over dramatic. All he does is yell the characters name over and over again with the occasional "This can't be happening" "No one saw this coming" "my boy" or "baby girl".

Etika is fine as a streamer and in making rumor videos but when it comes to his reactions, especially smash, and his drama with other youtubers, it's made me not a fan of his.

Respectable opinion, but his overhype towards something he loves shows he’s passionate about Nintendo (though he might need to learn how to calm that heart down)

I wouldn't worry about it. Just because Isabelle's thread isn't always active doesn't mean the support doesn't exist.

Like how Felicia(Fates) is the obvious most requested and wanted character to be in Smash(or any game ever) of all time, and she doesn't even have a thread.

I would replace Peter Pan with Tinkerbell (Very Iconic, has her own franchise Disney Fairies and imo slighly more moveset potential), but otherwise roughly the same choices as I would do.

It's not so bad generally being a European in this regard, Germany, France and Spain have all had demos, it's more that we Scandinavians never get them.

Agree, being scandinavian Nintendo fan can be really annoying at times.
An example for those who aren't in the know, because of the distributor, the Nordic didn't have access to Club Nintendo rewards.

2. Improved air mobility.
3. Forward Smash has a tipper but is still very strong overall.
4. As I said before, up Smash isn't as fast as his previous up Smash but it covers a big range and seems to have roughly the same power.
5. Warlock Punch has super armor throughout the entirety of the move, even when reversing. It's insane.
6. The down Smash is the fastest and most similar to his previous down Smash.
7. Aesthetic difference but Dark Dive now explodes with darkness instead of a regular explosion. An overdue change, honestly. The move itself is also faster than before as the grab doesn't last as long as it used to.
8. The up aerial is still a reliable move. Quite fast and can KO early.

Speaking of Ridley, personally, I never felt like the reason why peoples wanted him was for the moveset that the Smash team could give him. Like, as long as you gave him attacks involving his tails, claws, shooting fire in some way, his Brawl grabs and most important of all: capture his sadistic personality, you had basically what most fans would want out of Ridley as a playable character. Sure, they could have gone a bit more crazy with him, but with how some peoples didn't like Smash 4 newcomer due to being too gimmicky for some, I'm a bit glad Ridley isn't too out of the norm.

Wait no, it's definitly not as bad, let's not got there, Kirby f-throw & b-throw are a special kind of awful that no one could replicate. Atleast Ganon Side-B work on the ground.

Sonic: I forgot

Smash 4: I stayed up to watch it and couldn’t fall asleep due to hype.

Rosalina: Stayed up to watch it next to our Christmas tree.

Little Mac: my wedding anniversary date. I watched it before I left to hand in our marriage documents.

Greninja: I forgot but I remember watching it by myself.

E3 2014: Stayed up to watch it. But my laptop broke half way.

Lucina and Robin: stayed up to watch it and ate pizza

Shulk: watched it with friends who weren’t Smash fans.

Cloud: I had only one class that day to teach in the afternoon so I spent the morning fangasiming. It was like Christmas. And the next day I went to America with my wife to attend my sisters wedding. So I watched it again when I arrived.

Corrin and Bayonetta: watched it in the morning while on my way to work. I stopped at a supermarket parking.

Smash Ultimate Inkling: randomly visited Smashboards to find out I was a mod again. That led me find the trailer.

E3 2018: went to bed at 10 and woke up at 1 to watch it on mute. Didn’t want to wake up the baby.

Smash Ultimate Direct: Watched it in Australia while working as a chaperone for our students study abroad trip. Had crap internet at the hotel and took forever to watch it fully. K Rool was spoiled for me on this thread after I went in safari intending to search on how to make internet in Australia go faster. But opening Safari made this thread popped up and the first thing I saw was “KING K ROOOL!”

9/7/2018: we never did see it but it was scheduled for 7 am here. Plus, I had an office day so basically I could spend some of my day speculating and hyping with the rest of you. Was planning to watch it in the office lobby while drinking some coffee and eating a doughnut.

Brawl: I found out about Brawl's announcement after completing my exams. Overall, I remember being very eccstatic for the game especially when Snake was unveiled as Smash's first guest character.

Sonic: Working on my coursework assignments.

Smash 4 announcement: At home.

Rosalina: At first I thought Kirby was going be a playable racer in Mario Kart at first, but then when I saw the warp star and Luma coming in, I had a feeling it was Smash related.

Little Mac: Tuned into his reveal really late in the evening.

Greninja: Again it was late in the evening when I watched the Direct. Was a bit puzzled when I thought Charizard was going to be the newcomer at first, but I was even surprised when Greninja was playable.

E3 2014: Was at home for the entire afternoon.

Lucina & Robin: Same as the E3 2014.

Shulk: Prepping for College.

Ryu: I was away on holiday.

Cloud: I was working on my assignment at the time.

Corrin & Bayonetta: Tuned into the Direct before heading to bed.

I’d expect Isabelle regardless, maybe one additional echo (either Ken or Black Shadow) and one unique that DOESN’T have a particularly huge hype following (Elma, Waddle Dee).

That's an interesting observation of Ridley. I think it works because Charizard isn't Charizard anymore and is now PT (although without the stamina you can still main just Charizard).

I'd be interested in seeing if Charizard mains move over to Ridley.
