We even have an inside source over in the K.Rool board that basically says Nintendo themselves were denying Retro from using K.Rool for no reason at all.

Yes. It is from fan demand. I stand by what I said before. When you attach one characters reasons to be in specifically to another, then you weaken its chances. Not just because it makes it sound like the character has no merit on its own, but because of conditioning as well.

The first time you see yellow sunset, its magical.
The second time? Still magical.
The third time? I notice the ice cream truck in front instead.

I dont mean to be rude, but your argument seems to be "Geno has to get in because K Rool and Ridley did!" which not only ignores the difficulties Geno faces in his own right, such as being third party, but also reads (to me) as a bit childish.
Geno might make it in, sure. But his discussion should be on its own, not tied to those of other characters. Characters dont have 'chances,' they are in or they are not.

That was only because they still needed to make posts of all the other new stuff. If you look back there were no breaks in between the new direct info. Meaning none of the old info was in the way.

Dracula's Castle came after Simon did on the blog updates, so it's still possible to get a stage and have it shown off later.

The real problem would be where the stage would go on the stage page on the website.

People need to remember that big *** sword Impa in HW is NOT CANON. In canon in OOT and SS she is a lot more like Sheik.

Totally right! But just to be the devil's advocate for a sec, smash tends to toss the canon out the window sometimes so it remains possible (very unlikely imo) that Impa would be HW inspired.

Speaking of which, yous stated that she was a lot like Sheik, i agree but if she ever get into smash, would it be cool as hell if they'd add some magic elements to her moveset (making her a Chrom-like clone instead of a simple echo)? For example, this cool magic barrier from SS (could replace one of Sheik's special):

I may be over optimistic but with Chrom being an hybrid clone, my hopes are high for future clones. Feel free to try and destroy my optimism i dare you...

When people see the article where Sakurai says that the number of music tracks can change in the future, it means "wow, possibly more music?". When people see the same thing and apply it to stages, it's magically "there's no way it's gonna change from 103. nope. nuh-uh." now?

There's also the fact that some character don't get stages until late into the game's development. Case in point . It's not entirely impossible to believe it won't happen in the future if a certain newcomer doesn't get something in the base game.

Like don't get me wrong, I think Geno has a likely chance. But it honestly wouldn't surprise me if SE said no, or that Sakurai decided to please a greater amount of people with someone else from FF7 or even another title or entry.
I just wouldn't get your hopes up or set your expectations too high, just consider the other factors surrounding some characters' inclusions.

• Isabelle and Ken are in, both presumably as echo fighters
• A 7th Gen Pokemon that is not Decidueye or Lycanroc is in
• A 2nd Square Enix owned character is in. This could be characters like Geno, Sora, or Slime from Dragon Quest, among others.

Also, what Vergeben has gotten right so far:

• Ridley, Ice Climbers, Snake, and Simon Belmont are in the game
• No cuts from Smash 4
• After E3, Vergeben claimed that at least six newcomers were left. We saw five during the Smash Direct and, with another one on the way this direct most likely, that makes this claim true.
• Vergeben also claimed that Mimikyu was not the Gen 7 Pokemon either. This was confirmed when Mimikyu was revealed as a Pokeball summon.

To be honest, the biggest “fan favorite” characters that I can name from the top of my head are that seems to be the general consensus are: Isaac, Geno, Banjo Kazooie, Sora, and Bandanna Waddle Dee.

Isaac (finally) and Geno seem very likely for this game, there seems to be a lot that points to them getting in. Banjo is less so, but I still see Banjo as likely. Bandanna Waddle Dee I’m a little hesitant on since his popularity seems to be more recent than when he was during the ballot, since I haven’t seen people really mention him a lot.

Sora is gonna be DLC, that I can bet. He was popular during the ballot, but he’s going to be expensive to license, so I can see them going for DLC with him.

Is there someone else I’m missing?

What about him? This is if only Rare is concerned here in the decision, and Rare don't own no Minecraft

If I may say some sort of dark horse for some characters most widely speculated right now:

Geno - Any other Square Enix rep
Skull Kid - Impa (Though kind of a stretch since as a likely Sheik Echo, she could just join in with Skull Kid. If Impa doesn't count then just say I've got nothin')
Isaac - (I've got nothin')
Incineroar - Literally any other Gen 7 Pokemon.
Banjo - Rayman (I personally think we’re done with unrepresented 3rd party franchises until DLC but if there is room for another. Rayman might still be a bit more possible then Banjo base-game wise. Even with the appearance in Ubisoft’s own Brawlhalla)
Shadow - Tails (They have a shot at coming in together I feel, even if it takes until DLC for Tails)
Isabelle - (I've got nothin')
Ken - (I've got nothin')

As far as another SE character goes, Sora I can really see having a big ballot presence but Disney is a problem there, not sure they'd work around that. Then we have Dragon Quest, biggest JRPG franchise ever, I'm pretty sure at least a couple characters like Slime and Erdrick are in demand. Another FF character is always possible.

Pokemon is the biggest wild card. I think Banjo is pretty likely, but like I said before, don't sleep on Rayman, his demand peaked right before the ballot launched so he had the perfect time. Shadow is like one of the only characters I think is a near-lock and while Tails isn't as popular, I wouldn't sleep on his chances either.

Isabelle uhh I got no idea how demanded other AC characters are or were. Isabelle has been huge since New Leaf, to the point where she now has a small hatedom, that's how you know you've made it.

Ken is probably in, but I still think Akuma is very possible. Either one or the other or both.

I thought Sakurai bias actually worked against him since he famously expressed a desire to not overload the game with kirby stuff cause he'd feel like that would be.... biased, but also from what I understand he doesn't seem to put in Kirby stuff he didn't personally invent
