This has probably been said before, but I don't see how Dixie could be done justice as an echo. I mean yeah, you could argue that Lucina and Chrom aren't being done justice, but they still use their signature weapons. If Dixie were an echo she wouldn't use her signature weapon: her hair. Sure, they could probably change her up B to something else like with Chrom, but that would just be one move with her hair. Remember that Dixie picks up things with her hair in her games, so for her to not grab with her hair would feel so wrong.

I don't think Dixie picks up stuff with her hair in Tropical Freeze.

And my answer is- a fun character.
My answer is not- incineroar, skull kid, and geno, because leakers and youtubers made them prominent in our minds nowadays.

My answer is- there is not an answer to this anymore, because the glaring characters for inclusion have made it, so now we have to look to the reality that there are a lot of characters people want, many with rich histories in gaming, and this isnt some cut and dry process. It is messy. Character inclusion is messy, and the results are not going to please everyone or be taken down a list from what we as an injured internet audience see as necessity.

All I ask is for people to think for themselves, and I understand that is quite frightening and most people dont even know how to do it, but I'm still going to ask it. Before posting an opinion, actually ask yourself why it is your opinion.

How about a character from Jet Force Gemini? I'm sure they aren't popular enough, just trying to make fun conversation other than Direct stuff and leaks. Anyway, Jet Force Gemini was well loved in its hayday, although it never went anywhere from there. Nowadays its just sort of nostalgic to think about for those who actually played it. But its also pretty forgettable, even though it was popular.

Hundreds? I'm assuming you're exaggerating, as theres really not that many extremely wanted Brawl-era characters left besides ones like Isaac and Geno. The rest are either already in, or have been dis confirmed.

As someone who just finished Okami for the first time recently, I agree with all of your choices, plus would add on this battle theme:

Of course, Amaterasu would be very unique in Smash, and I loved playing as her in Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

Also, solid choices for all of your music picks in general.

Thanks I've always enjoyed Okami music, and all those music making into Smash would be a dream also *facepalm* of course how could I forget about that song it's so good, another good one is Theme of the Celestial that would be good theme for Smash.

Me I never got to finish Okami, so I'm waiting to get a Physical copy for the Switch, so it doesn't eat too much storage. As for Amaterasu for Smash, easily my most wanted character, so all I can do is hope that Sakurai chooses her as the next Capcom newcomer.

This game's roster is being tailor made to us, the actual diehard fans. If it wasn't, characters like Ridley and K.Rool would have no chance in hell.

The fans may be why those two got into the game, but lets not downplay their importance to their series or their impact to gaming.
Geno is pure fan demand and imagination. Is that enough? Absolutely. But it is not the same thing as K Rool or Ridley.

I'm not trying to take anything from Geno. He has a lot of possibility to be in. So why don't you let his possibility speak for itself, rather than trying to tie him on to the same thing that brought in others? It just isnt the same, and it weakens what does make him so great. It's like crying Wolf.

No... there really are a lot of characters in gaming. I will outright say hundreds.
Not to mention, we determine what makes a character 'disconfirmed,' and that is not in actuarial dictation. I bet we would say Toon Link disqualifies Link, or that Rathalos being AT means he isnt a boss. Our arbitrary rules stand, until they don't, and ultimately this speculation comes down to that which happens in life- pragmatic vs idealistic.

That's just his triple jab combo as opposed to his rapid jab combo, the one that uses the tail.

We even have an inside source over in the K.Rool board that basically says Nintendo themselves were denying Retro from using K.Rool for no reason at all.


Nintendo wanted K.Rool dead, it was 100% the fans that brought him back to life.



If Geno gets in, then yes, this is the Smash game where Sakurai put the fans first and foremost.

His moveset would be really different, and yet, his moveset doesn't really need a huge 'gimmick' of its own.
Since echo characters are just about reusing as many assets as possible, and the more we get the further they seem to be from their counterparts... I honestly don't know if Waddle Dee could be an echo or not. In my head it makes sense he would be an echo based heavily on Meta Knight and Kirby.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say the Direct character was probably gonna be someone who has/had a following, but a silent one or one that people didn't think about as much.

A darkhorse, essentially.

If I may say some sort of dark horse for some characters most widely speculated right now:

Geno - Any other Square Enix rep
Skull Kid - Impa (Though kind of a stretch since as a likely Sheik Echo, she could just join in with Skull Kid. If Impa doesn't count then just say I've got nothin')
Isaac - (I've got nothin')
Incineroar - Literally any other Gen 7 Pokemon.
Banjo - Rayman (I personally think we’re done with unrepresented 3rd party franchises until DLC but if there is room for another. Rayman might still be a bit more possible then Banjo base-game wise. Even with the appearance in Ubisoft’s own Brawlhalla)
Shadow - Tails (They have a shot at coming in together I feel, even if it takes until DLC for Tails)
Isabelle - (I've got nothin')
Ken - (I've got nothin')

- Legend of Zelda (1985) it's a long story
- Link to the Past (1991; partially) and Link Between Worlds (2013)
- Ocarina of Time (1998)
- Wind Waker (2002), Minish Cap + Four Swords (2004), Phantom Hourglass (2007), Spirit Tracks (2009)

Is there some arbitrary quota that we're supposed to meet with having all of a specific Zelda met? Timeline? Console Era? Does a certain newcomer, unique or Echo, have to meet a certain new game criteria? i dunno just a thought

FUN FACT: If Ganon kept his TP incarnation, we'd actually have all Timelines met (Pre-Separation, Adult, Child, and Fallen)

Yeah, I definitely get behind that. I mean after all, that's what's been shown exactly so far.
But I definitely wouldn't go as far to say that these supported characters are by any means locks or widely wanted.
Something to definitely keep in mind though is that fan support might lead to different results than we may expect.
Like the ballot for instance was open to everyone, and we will probably never find out what the results actually were. So who knows, while people claim Isaac would be highly voted for on the ballot, in reality it could be someone like Deoxys or etc. in that ranking.

While fan support definitely is a huge thing this time around, I wouldn't say that they're going to be ones that correlate with the hardcore Smash community.
Also something to mention too, I doubt 100% of the roster is dictated by fan support, I'm sure Sakurai is going to add inclusions of his own.
But all in all, it's amazing that this game is delivering so heavily on fan support and is shaping up to be the best iteration for every fan and I hope a lot of characters finally get their due.
